This was my first time staying at Artotel Magelang. Previously, I had stayed at Artotel Semarang and was very satisfied with the experience. But honestly, Artotel Magelang felt quite different.
First of all, this hotel is not very motorcycle-friendly, especially for big bikes. The parking situation was quite troublesome — the motorcycles were parked very close to each other. Even though the staff knew we were touring and carrying bags on both sides and the back of the bike, we still weren’t given a more spacious parking spot. On top of that, there was no direct elevator access from the parking area to the lobby or rooms.
At first, we were happy because we received a free room upgrade from Deluxe to Superior. The room itself was fine, but the problem was the water heater — there was no hot water at all in the shower, even though the sink water became hot immediately. After a long ride, all we wanted was a warm shower, but unfortunately we couldn’t have one. Well, we decided to just accept it even though we were upset. We felt it would be pointless to report it that night since it was already late and we were extremely tired and just wanted to rest. The next morning during check-out, I informed the staff that there had been no hot water in our room. The receptionist explained that we had to wait around 15 minutes for the hot water to come out and that the water needed to be “flushed” first. Whaaattt? 😂 That was honestly the first time I’ve ever stayed in a hotel where you have to wait 15 minutes for hot water. Hello…
. I showered for about 15 minutes, and my husband showered for another 15 minutes — meaning we had already waited around 30 minutes, and still no hot water came out!
If the explanation had been delivered with a friendly and apologetic attitude, maybe I could still understand. But instead, the receptionist seemed defensive and in denial, without even apologizing for the inconvenience. Receptionists really shouldn’t handle complaints like that.
By the way, I stayed there on May 12th, 2026. Maybe the management would like to check which staff member was on duty on the morning of May 13th during my check-out.
Overall, it was quite a disappointing stay experience.
