I'm so excited to return to Karimunjawa again. Staying at the Loyal Friend Hostel was the perfect choice for me, considering my budget and comfort. Even during the rainy season, everything looked beautiful. I'll be back next summer. Thank you for your hospitality!
I stayed here for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. The owners were super friendly and didn't hesitate to accommodate our requests, like vegan breakfast for example.
And when you came back from exploring the island a nice and cold AC is welcoming you in your room.
We also loved the common area, wether you can relax and watch the sunset while the fisherman come back with there catches.
Thank you very much loyal friend, we will come back.

I rarely write reviews this long, but my experience at Loyal Friend Hostel in Karimunjawa was so disappointing that I feel obligated to warn future travelers. This was, without question, one of the worst hostel experiences I have ever had. The only positive thing I can honestly say is that the location is excellent. It is close to the harbor, restaurants, and the main attractions, making it very convenient to get around. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end.
The rooms were in an absolutely terrible condition. They were poorly maintained, dirty, and clearly neglected for a long time. The beds were uncomfortable, the mattresses felt old and worn out, and it was impossible to get a decent night’s sleep. The room smelled unpleasant from the moment we entered, and it never improved during our stay. The bathroom was equally disappointing, with obvious signs of poor hygiene, mold in several places, and facilities that desperately needed repairs. Cleanliness seemed to be a very low priority throughout the property.
The overall maintenance of the hostel was shocking. Broken furniture, damaged fixtures, and a general feeling of neglect made it seem as though no one cared about the condition of the place. Photos online create expectations that are far from reality. What we found was tired, run-down, and far below even basic standards.
What made the experience even worse was the service. The staff appeared uninterested, unhelpful, and at times downright rude.
