Nirjhara

This is a proper five (should be six) star hotel.
They have got everything right here, we had a wonderful stay over Christmas.
The architecture, the setting, the room, the facilities, the food, the staff, the pool, the spa, the cinema and so on and so on… everything is top tier.
The food is excellent and the menu varied and interesting, so we didn’t bother leaving to eat anywhere else.
If you are GF, DF, NF, Vegan they can and will cater for you — with delicious options.
The Spa is insanely good, we had more treatments than ever during our stay.
The room (we had villa 3), was stunning… secluded and quiet, completely private.
The staff are the kindest and sweetest without fail… everyone went above and beyond to guarantee we had a great stay.
Finally the setting is gorgeous with a roaring waterfall, stunning gardens and loads of local wildlife to watch.
This truly is a place to relax and unwind but if you want activities they have loads of those for you too.
We will be back!

Nirjhara takes its name from the Sanskrit word meaning flowing water, and that philosophy is felt throughout the entire experience.
From arrival, we were surrounded by calm, privacy, and lush greenery, creating a deep sense of peace. The spa was exceptional—we spent almost four hours enjoying facial and body treatments, finishing with a superb Balinese massage. Truly world-class.
Dining was consistently excellent: generous breakfasts and a thoughtful, elegant menu for lunch and dinner. One evening, we reserved the private cinema exclusively for ourselves and selected our own film, which felt both intimate and special.
The infinity pool is stunning, but our private pool and beautifully designed villa quickly became our favorite place to relax. The space and privacy made it a perfect retreat.
The hotel also organized a private driver and guide for excursions to the Monkey Forest and nearby waterfalls—effortless, well-planned, and deeply enjoyable.
A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Alejandro Rueda and his wonderful team for making our stay so memorable. We will absolutely be returning.

Nirjhara fully lives up to its name, inspired by flowing water and its natural waterfall setting.
Our stay was defined by tranquility, serenity, and lush vegetation—a true escape. The spa was outstanding: nearly four hours of facial and body treatments, ending with an excellent Balinese massage. One of the best spa experiences we’ve had.
The restaurant delivered every time: great breakfasts and a refined, sophisticated menu for lunch and dinner. We also booked the private cinema just for us and chose our own film—an unexpected and delightful touch.
The infinity pool is beautiful, but we mostly enjoyed our private pool and spacious villa, which made it easy to spend secluded, peaceful time together.
The hotel arranged a private car and guide for visits to the Monkey Forest and waterfalls—smooth, thoughtful, and memorable.
Special thanks to Mr. Alejandro Rueda and his team for their warmth and professionalism. This is a place we will definitely return to.

We had the most incredible 25th wedding anniversary here at Nirjhara. We cannot fault this place! The staff are incredibly attentive and friendly, the rooms are beautiful and clean, the food is INCREDIBLE! We loved the yoga offering and the pool. They went above and beyond to make our anniversary special, creating the most romantic set up right next to the waterfall. We also loved the spa offering of the temple ceremony, it was very very special.

Nirjhara is a beautiful, well maintained resort tucked away just moments from the quiet Kedungu beach.
The restaurant is a hidden gem with well prepared and presented dishes which are reasonably priced, especially considering the quality, service and atmosphere.
The best thing about Nirjhara is the people and the way the resort treats its staff and the local community. Seeing this first hand, I’m super happy to spend time and money here as I know they really care about their team and the local Kedungu community. This is rare to see in businesses today and the attention to detail shines through the smiles and kindness of the whole team.

We had a fabulous stay at the Nirjhara Hotel. We spent 4 nights at the hotel and wished we could have stayed longer! The room was very comfortable and well appointed. The staff were friend, helpful and accommodating. We had a room with a small plunge pool (River Pool Pavilion). It was nice to sit on the deck and relax, but we did not use the pool as we loved the main pool area, which was quiet and came with nice staff that would bring us water and snacks :-).
The food at the restaurant was really good — breakfast, lunch and dinner. So many great options on the menu, we never got bored.
We took two excursions with the hotel, one to see the Tabanon area, visiting a couple of temples and other nearby sites. The other excursion we added to our drive to our next hotel (in Munduk), the "Hills of Tabanon". We had the same guide for both outings, he was friendly and full of great info, and he was patient answering all our questions.
I went to the spa for two treatments — a pedicure and a massage — both of which were really good! Last, I attended one of the yoga classes which was nice.
Happy to say that I highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed for 3 nights after a whole day travelling. The hotel was an oasis of calm after a busy drive — a perfect place to relax and revive. The staff were lovely and the welcome warm and friendly. We stayed in the amazing Canopy Suites, nestled in the trees and vegetation. The pool was amazing and around 20 long, and everywhere was so clean and ecology focused. We ate in the hotel — the food was lovely — and hired bikes for an easy cycle to the local beach. Recommended on all counts — would be great to return!

I rarely write reviews (I’m usually a “just click the stars” kind of guest), but Nirjhara truly deserves every word of praise.
From the moment we arrived, everything felt magical — the lush jungle setting in Tabanan makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a secret paradise. It’s private, serene, and absolutely stunning. Nirjhara is more than a hotel, it’s a boutique experience where every detail has been carefully thought through.
The food alone deserves a standing ovation. Every meal felt Michelin-star worthy — beautifully presented, creative, and absolutely delicious. We found ourselves looking forward to every dining experience as much as the adventures outside.
Speaking of adventures, one of the highlights of our stay was the Journey to the North with our incredible guide, Kano. He showed us hidden gems far from the usual tourist trails, giving us an authentic taste of Bali that we’ll never forget.
But what makes Nirjhara truly unforgettable is the people. Every member of the staff went above and beyond, making us feel genuinely cared for. Their warmth, professionalism, and kindness elevated the entire experience.
We left Nirjhara not just relaxed, but inspired — and absolutely certain that we’ll be coming back. If you’re looking for a private, beautiful, and soul-soothing stay in Bali, look no further. Nirjhara is the definition of perfection.

Arriving at this hotel from the chaos of Ubud was just wonderful. From the moment we entered the hotel through the stunning reception, we were looked after so well. I travelled with my 2 daughters and had booked a 2 bedroom villa with pool, but we had a surprise and very generous upgrade to The Residence which is simply stunning. Every member of staff we came across, from the gardeners, waiting staff, reception etc were simply outstanding. The grounds are beautifully maintained and are just divine. The restaurant is super, with lots of choice, the food delicious. We used the spa, the gym, did a cookery and mixology session, used the hotel bicycles both accompanied and unaccompanied, and used the main pool, which is beautiful. We loved wandering outside the hotel to the ‘village’, which is sill authentically Balinese and rustic. There’s a little coffee shop we used and a small clothes shop selling ladies fashion linen made in Bali which we made purchases from, and and a couple of places selling traditional baskets, which we bought, as I think it really important to support local ventures. The hotel is surrounded by rice fields and you can walk/cycle to a couple of beaches and Tanah Lot temple. We left the hotel feeling totally relaxed and thoroughly spoilt. Will be returning with my husband in 2026!

My wife and I LOVED this hotel. The meticulous attention to detail, cleanliness and service was clear. We stayed in the canopy suites and they were such a unique accommodation. The breakfast and food were lovely and using the private cinema room made us feel like a million dollars. Big thank you to Padma and all the other ladies at the spa. We would highly recommend this hotel. If you stay here check out some of the excursions they have. We thoroughly enjoyed all the ones we did!

Stayed with a family of 4 in this fantastic hotel. The property is nestled in green and relaxing surroundings and driving in it seems like you arrive in paradise.
We were welcomed by staff and the hotel manager who very kindly gave us a tour of the property and hotel.
The amazing property is kept to perfection and is breathtaking in decor and architecture.
We stayed in a villa with it own pool and the room was just marvellous. Two separate rooms a third structure with a TV and dinning room and our own pool surrounded by a fantastic garden. All was perfect.
The following day, there was some construction next door (outside the property) which was not expected as the hotel environment is all about relaxing. We contacted the front desk and they immediately resolved the issue but changing our room and upgrading us to the residence, where we no longer heard any construction noise. The residence is also fantastic and huge. Felt like kings.
We booked meditation and yoga with their instructor and this is all done in a structure they built down by the river. You cannot find a more relaxing and inviting scenario! The instructor was fantastic!
We also had a massage which was amazing and affordable. Highly recommend.
Breakfast is taken in the main building overlooking the property, the main pool and the waterfall. Very nice breakfast menu with all you could want. Many different choices from healthy to more savoury.

We spent a wonderful week at Nirjhara in a 2-bedroom pool villa. We were placed in villa 23 at first. Unfortunately, through no fault of the hotel, there was quite a bit of construction noise just over the wall. I mentioned this to Alejandro, the manager, and he moved us to villa 25. The construction noise was muted, but there was a rooster nearby that let his presence be known — all day! That said, the villas are spacious, immaculate, and very comfortable.
One thing to note is that the resort is remote, and there really is nothing that you can walk to. They provide a shuttle to Tanah Lot Temple, which we visited in the late morning. I wish that we had been advised to go later in the day to see the sunset, when it was perhaps a bit cooler. The resort also has a shuttle to a nearby beach. I do not recommend that beach, as it was covered in trash and sadly, 2 dead turtles. Canggu is just under 8 miles away, but expect travel times of 40 minutes to 1+ hours due to the traffic.
Breakfast each morning was incredible with both Indonesian and Western options. The views are beautiful from the restaurant, and the staff are all wonderful! All of our meals were prepared well and delicious, whether it was an Indonesian dish or a Western dish.
We booked one of their signature excursions, Journey to the North, which they tailored for us to include the Jatiluwih rice terraces. This was the highlight of our trip. I highly recommend this day tour.
The best part of Nirjhara is the spa!

This is one of the most perfect places I’ve ever stayed. Can’t recommend it enough. The rooms, pool, spa and food were all wonderful. You can cycle out or take daytrips so you are in a quiet location but don’t ever feel cut off. Also the food and drinks are not at all overpriced so you don’t feel taken advantage of like at some hotels or resorts and can just relax and enjoy. Will have to come back to Bali again just to stay here!

My favorite hotel in Bali, by far! Trust all the reviews. This place is a paradise. After a first incredible stay, we changed our holiday plan to incorporate a second stay to end the trip.
The waterfall by the pool, the yoga (and many other amazing activities), the food, the amenities, the incredibly kind and attentive staff… there is nothing to criticize. This hotel is perfection.
We will be back!

A truly beautiful luxury resort, one hour from the airport, set amongst rice fields and a small quiet village in Tabanan. The mineral pool, and the food, staff and service was exemplary. Our friends and I were in Canopy suites with rooftop spa baths. The spa and wellness centre, the gym and yoga classes were well run and professional. We went on a day trip to the UNESCO rice fields which are spectacularly beautiful. We travelled via Ubud.
We received complimentary cakes, delivered to our rooms each day, along with complimentary ice blocks and snacks at the pool. We loved our cooking class too.
We would definitely recommend this beautiful resort for peacefulness, food, and wellness and outstanding friendly staff.

Gem in tabanan area! What an amazing place. Service is top notch. We stayed 2nights and it is one of the best experience we had with our baby girl less than 1 year old.
Swimming pool is the hightlight. Spa is clean, proffesional.
Definitely will return in the future.
Down side is slightly further from the airport and you need to pass through canggu traffic.

The review is the perfect place to relax with the hustle and bustle a short ride away should you want it. The food at this hotel is to die for, I would recommended the chia breakfast, the miso glazed fish and the tuna poke bowl. Wow wow wow!
