My husband and I booked Gajah Mina beach resort in search of a romantic getaway during our honeymoon. When we arrived we booked a massage for the first night and a tour for the following night along with an airport transport. Upon checking in we were led to our room, we turned on the air con and fan to cool it down. The air con blew out hotter air than the fan sitting beside it. There are also no mosquito nets in the room so that you can't leave the doors open, as it was cooler outside the room than inside. The safe would not open and when I called the reception and the front office no one answered to assist. The door to the room would not lock without having the lift the sliding door and then squeezing the handles together to engage the lock. I actually could not lock or unlock the door myself and had to get my husband to do it. There are also cobwebs in the room, the sheets are dirty, the towels are stained and smell of mildew, and the room is dirty. The shower is cracked and the water and soap do not drain properly. There is so much mildew that I can not get the dirty off of my feet. The plug in mosquito killer had no refill mats. We got changed into our swim suits to go enjoy the pool. The pool is murky, you could not see the bottom, and has a layer of film, bugs, and flower petals (not decorative petals mind you). We got our beach towels and sarong which smelled of mildew and tried to relax on a lounge chair underneath an umbrella. We tried to open several umbrellas to find that the first one was completely broken and no pin to hold it up and the fold of the second contained a corpse of a lizard being devoured by ants which might have been fine if there was a pin to hold up the umbrella. We figured it was easiest and the least dangerous to sit under an already open umbrella at table and chairs. I had lost the login for Wi-Fi and tried to ask the pool bar but unfortunately no one was there as they seem to have vacated after giving us the towel and sarong. I checked back several times to ask questions, and return our towel and sarongs so that we would not be charged but there was no one in the bar or the restaurant. The power went out, which I know you have no control over, but there was no one to be found when we had questions. When the power goes out the water does not run. You can not flush a toilet or take a shower to cool off. We were holding onto having the massage at 6pm which was booked for the following day. At 5:30 I called reception and the front office to see where we should go for the massage. Again, no answer so we walked to reception where there is no sign of anyone and no sign to state that you should go to the restaurant for anything you need from the reception. We were directed to the spa to find that there was no one there. The staff did little to sort out the massage and it was only after saying that we had to leave the resort that they tried to rebook the massage. It must have been a misunderstanding but this was the last straw. As we were leaving the resort a Japanese style chef knife fell before me in my pathway as we were walking out the front gate. Lord knows where it came from and I don't think I need to go into detail about why having knives falling and laying around is a problem. I have included a picture of the knife. As I have mentioned before, we booked this resort for our honeymoon and we were looking forward to relaxing on your beautiful grounds. We showed up to find the Resort dirty, run down, and dangerous.
