Maddu Suites

If you're looking for peace & quiet, this is the place to go. I had an excellent time while here. The room was incredible; it was beautiful. They had their own restaurant where they served delicious food. The Thai pork rib soup and Balung Babi are two of my faves, and the menu has a variety of options. If you wish to dine at one of their restaurants, Mimpi Manis or Sake Bali, they provide a buggy that will take you back and forth. They made the room every morning and greeted you with a smile. I had a lovely time here! ☺️

5 star everything, we stayed 3 nights initially but we extended for 1 night because it was so comfortable and everyone is so nice and attentive. They make good breakfast, everything we needed is in this place. They have a gym nearby and a good restaurant recommendation which is sake bali japanese.
We felt relaxed every moment and really truly felt the vacation and zen vibes in this quiet area of ubud.
They also helped us get a private car going to gilimanuk port because we are going to banyuwangi.
Will definitely recommend this place to everyone ❤️

I rarely write reviews, but this time I truly want to express my sincere gratitude to this place and the entire team.
The service here is incredibly warm and attentive. You can genuinely feel that they care about the comfort of their guests. Every morning started with wonderful breakfasts — absolutely delicious and prepared with great care.
The place itself is simply stunning. Everything is very stylish, thoughtfully designed, and surrounded by breathtaking views. At times it even felt like we were somewhere on the Mediterranean coast rather than in Bali.
A very special thank you to the manager Putra. During all the time we’ve been coming to Bali, he is one of the most attentive and caring managers we have ever met. He truly looks after the comfort of the guests, is always ready to help, and pays attention to every detail.
Thank you for the atmosphere, the kindness, and the beautiful memories we are taking with us. We will definitely come back again and truly hope this place will become one of our regular spots every time we visit Bali.

Great experience. We stayed for 5 nights here in 2 different rooms. Staff is worth appreciating. Great Villa for honeymoon couples. Sebatu temple, rice terrace, and coffee fields are very near. Downtown is like 15KM.

We stayed at Maddu Suites in Sebatu, Tegalalang, and absolutely loved our experience. The room was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. The property is nestled right in the rice fields, which made for a peaceful and authentic Balinese stay. At night and in the early morning, we could hear the sounds of nature—crickets and birds—which created such a calming atmosphere.
One of the highlights was the private pool and the shaded outdoor dining area in our private garden—it was the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. While the breakfast wasn’t very varied, the food was tasty and we had no stomach issues during our stay.
We read the reviews before booking and saw that some guests had complaints, but in our opinion, it’s important to have the right expectations when choosing accommodation in the middle of a rice field. This is not a five-star Hilton resort, but rather a charming, quiet, and natural retreat—and it delivered exactly what we hoped for.
Our room was secure (we had a proper key), and while towels weren’t changed daily—they were replaced after three days during our 4-night stay—this didn’t bother us at all.
This is not a sponsored review, and we were not asked to leave it. We simply want to share our positive experience because we believe Maddu Suites is a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of Ubud, run by warm and kind people who genuinely care about making your stay enjoyable.

My stay at Maddu Suites was an absolute nightmare. From day one, the room was completely unhygienic: There were insects everywhere, including a large swarm of ants in the bathroom, cleaning up dead bugs — yes, ants were doing the cleaning. There were also spiders and spider webs in several parts of the room.
The place was impossible to sleep in, and I genuinely feared for our health. After adressing the situation, they cleaned the room but nothing changed, I even found brown, orange and red stains on my towels — utterly disgusting.
The reception was not available 24/7, which meant I couldn’t get help when needed, not even to report the filth or order breakfast. Communication was equally terrible: management responded days late, if at all.
When I complained, the first manager admitted the situation was unacceptable and said I would get a refund for one night. I made it clear that wasn’t enough given the severity of the issues, and she promised to follow up after talking tot he owner. She never did. Nothing. No message, no solution — just silence.
Days later, another manager suddenly offered a “free taxi or massage” — a laughable and insulting response to serious health and safety problems. She also promised I could speak to the owner and would share his number, only to later ignore me and say it wasn't possible. To make matters worse, they claimed I had already been refunded for the first night — a complete lie. I never received a cent.

Avoid This Hotel — Terrible Experience!
I stayed here before, and it was an absolute nightmare. For the price (over $1000), I expected at least basic cleanliness and comfort, but what we got was far from acceptable.
The room was infested with rats — yes, rats! One even showed up in our room, leaving droppings all over the place. To make matters worse, the bed was overrun with ants and other insects. It was disgusting.
We immediately contacted the hotel staff, hoping for a resolution, but despite the clear issues, they were unhelpful and refused to offer any compensation or even acknowledge the severity of the situation.
As a result, we had no choice but to leave and find new accommodation, wasting both our money and time. I’ve stayed in many hotels around the world, but this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had.
Save your money and sanity—avoid this hotel!

🐀🐀AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! 🐀🐀
We are absolutely disgusted and appalled by this place’s condition. It is beyond belief how bad this place is.
We expected this place to be luxurious given the price but instead we have witnessed a place that we wouldn’t let a wild animal stay in.
As you can see from the photos the place is infested with rats and vermin droppings.
To make matters worse the management are utterly ignorant and refuse to refund us.
We have been scammed!

The suite was aesthetically appealing. It was definitely a wow factor as it's your own private villa. But it definitely isn't a 4.9 star villa. While I do understand that we are in the heart of a rice field and you should expect alot of insects. I do however feel that they could have done a better job with the actual room suite. In considering to have some sort of insect repellents provided for guests (we bought our own)
-As the room had alot of spider webs on the celling, aircon etc.
-The main door had a gap inbetween the wood which could allow insects to get in.
-As well as the sliding door had large gaps under the door and inbetween which allowed insects to enter the room. The door didn't close fully either.
— The pool (private pool) was not very clean as it still had alot of algea on the sides and base of the floor pool was not cleaned.
— They also didn't have a wide variety for breakfast.
— The shower was one of the worst. I think they need to really consider on trying to solve that as there is never a point in the water where it would be just right to have a shower. It's either too cold or too hot.
Maddu Suites for been rated 4.9 star, I personally think there is alot for them to consider when having guests. Please note as this is my personal experience and not everyone would feel the same or have the same expectations as my husband and I had for this place.
Cleanliness is also something they need to consider.

We had a cosy stay at Maddu Suites for 2 nights. The villa was beautiful and room was very spacious! We had a private pool and it was nice waking up to sucha view.
Villa is located around 30min away from Ubud centre and as it is nearer to the rice paddies region, there's not much food options within walkable distance. Breakfast provided was not bad, and service was great 😊
Only feedback for improvement is to check on the bathroom ceilings as rain water leaked through causing puddles in the bathroom. Hot water is also not consistent and we had to constantly troubleshoot.

The stay had a private pool and it was worth the money they charged. The service staff was also friendly and polite. The rooms and bathroom were clean.
Only feedback for the hotel I was would say is that, they should make some arrangements for the water overflowing from bath tub. Coz it spills over the entire bathroom.

Great villas. The new build only opened in July. Staff did everything to make our stay perfect. Breakfast was amazing, especially the avocado toast. Private and quiet. I will recommend it to anyone who is visiting Ubud. I will be back.

Maddu suites has exceeded our expectations. Brand new, lovely villa in a quiet, beautiful area surrounded by ricefields. The service was impeccable and we had an unforgettable stay!
