Samuh Sunset Nusa Penida

So let me make it clear that I did not booked a stay here but hired a scooter from them. Not being a regular two wheeler rider, I made the mistake of not checking the tire treads of the one that I got. It was raining that day in penida and slipped at slope while riding. Me and my wife were hurt but the scooter had only it's one side mirror and the mobile holder broken. There where also some minor scratches on the side we fell, nothing more than that all other scooters did not had. Next day the owner extract unreasonable high charges from me. Though the owner was not there and only barking orders through the phone, even the staff present there knew that the charges were unreasonable high. However I ended up paying what was asked of me.
I felt so helpless and used at this sensitive moment where I and my wife were hurt.
I witnessed the best of Balinese hospitality throughout the trip, but also the worst in this one case.

We stayed at Samuh hote from 5-7th oct 2024. Here's the review, good points are very less, so starting with that.
Pros.
Good view from balcony.
Friendly staff.
Cons.
Very small room.
Lot of design flaws, no lock in bathroom and balcony.
Main door was difficult to close or open.
Horrible stairs, if elders or people with knee or leg issues are there this is a total waste of choice. There are no lifts. Attached pic for reference.
No phone in room, no calling bell.
Food was ok but very slow service.
Road to hotel is bad.
Very highly priced with not so great quality.
Overall would not suggest this place except balcony view nothing was actually appealing.

We have visited this hotel for twice now! Nice rooms and cool aircon with a beautiful view. Friendly and helpful staff.
The only draw back is the Wi-Fi not so good, and if your are driving scooter. The road to get to the hotel is very rocky and steep with lots of holes, so you need to be careful.
Other than that would definetly stay again!

I see the rating of this place and I understand that this is not at all true, apparently they did renovations here a year ago, I was here a week ago and I want to tell you about my experience. Obviously, due to the rating, the price for a room in this hotel is slightly lower than in similar hotels, which can be a plus for those who want to relax in a beautiful place and pay less. This is great place, the road to it is not very good, this is perhaps the only negative, but when you enter the room and see the view, I swear to God, you immediately forget about the inconvenient road! 🥰 The host is very responsive and professional, the room is clean and as comfortable as possible, they clean it very unobtrusively every day, as if someone does it by magic as soon as you leave to enjoy the nature of the island. Free coffee and water are renewed every day, which is a very nice bonus. Waking up and seeing the expanse of the ocean and the spacious sky outside the window as if you were in paradise is simply wonderful. We travel a lot, but this is the first time we have seen such charged and positive hotel workers! These people simply infect with positivity, very cheerful and happy people! It was my birthday and the staff prepared a surprise in the evening when my wife and I returned to our room! We were very embarrassed that we ran out of all the cash on the last day and did not leave a tip, this is the case when we really wanted to do this with all our hearts.

Never stay in samuh ocean hotel. The most terrible service I have ever experienced. In Bali. I booked and paid this hotel 1.5 months in advance in Agoda. I've been here before, even though it's really old with old interior but view is beautiful (only one good thing there). So I came to Nusa penida and decided to write them that I am near but instead of warm welcome they said that they are fully booked and can't help (I will attach the screenshot) so I asked what to do next and they said they would talk to manager and I was waiting 4 hours (Desi manager just pretended not to see my message) and it got late and dark, they just ignore me. And in the end they said they would cancel the booking (which they didn't do). There is a terrible manager Angela which pretended to be helpful first but then just ignored me (owner please pay attention, you need to fire such employee). Only Agoda service helped. These people are cheaters and scammers, they put more people in the rooms than the rooms. Don't stay in such disrespectful place. All my day and vacation was ruined because of this service.

Not at all value for money. No house phone, no room bell, noway to contact reception from room. Room maintenance zero. Not recommended no choice in breakfast menu. No option for vegetarians though assured on site.

Old Hotel. With an old gate that is difficult to open and close. I booked a deluxe room But I was given a superior room, they said that the room you booked is full.
I asked how is it possible when I paid for it 3 days ago، They said that the application has a problem.
It will not give you the summary of the room it chooses if it is full.
👉But it really has a very beautiful and excellent view.
