We feally loved our 3 night stays in this hostel! Overall its CLEAN! The bathroom upstars doesnt jave any mold, its looks great for the price. We stayed in 1 room it had 2 fan and makquuto net and a huige bed! The owner is nice and he really care about the hostel! Stay here guys!

Bring your expectations down to match the price and you'll be golden.
I stayed in the single room upstairs, which has Aircon (good job too, it was by far the hottest room in the house till I put that on). Apparently it's recently fitted and it definitely works.
The bed is the size of a small double, but due to the dent in the very centre, I can imagine sharing it (or sleeping anywhere other than in the dent) is uncomfortable.
My friends stayed in the twin room downstairs which had a fan and said it was decent, although one bed there was a little wonky too.
Everything is basic, the owner is friendly and didn't push us hard to try to book the dolphin trip (although he clearly gets a kickback). No hot water for showers and it's a bit dirty, but it's mega cheap.
We had the 'breakfast' — fried banana. Not sure when it was fried or who by and it was cold but tasty.
The Vietnamese restaurant around the corner, MeVui is incredible. We went there 3 times.

Good value for money. The room with two beds was fairly clean but the bathroom had roaches in it and the shower wasn’t very appealing. Nice view out the back but dirty pool. Owner is fairly welcoming but a little aggressive when you don’t want to book his activities. Very hot sleeping at night even with the fan. Beds are simple but actually quite nice. Lockers are small and won’t fit 35L+ bags. Doors can’t really be locked. Overall, very cheap, but for a reason.

It’s not worth the low price. The room was sooo dingy. The pool doesn’t exist anymore. No windows and felt like a dungeon but the worst part was not being able to get out because of all the stray dogs blocking the road and barking aggressively. I think only 18-20 year old guys who don’t care about anything can handle it. It is rare that I get somewhere and have to leave but booking this one just ended up costing me more in the end because I was scrambling to look for another place in high season. It might be fine for one night if you arrive very late and don’t have to leave your stuff alone. I couldn’t stay because of the insecurity with the other reviews and being a solo traveler and the dogs making it impossible to leave.

The owner tried to scam us. I didn’t stay there but the two guys I met told me it was ok for the price. They booked a car to Ubud for 600k (pretty expensive) with a 300k deposit (crazy to ask that for a ride) and we decided to share the ride and the owner ask us an extra 200k for being 3 instead of two and he was pretty aggressive (kicked le from the yard). So at least you know what to expect!

I recently stayed at Apollo Hostel and had a very good experience. The highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the host. They were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and went out of their way to make me feel at home. Their local tips and willingness to help with any queries made my trip much easier and enjoyable.
However, the cleaning facilities left much to be desired. The bathrooms and common areas were not as clean as I would have hoped, which I won’t complain for the price. If cleanliness is a top priority for you, this might be a concern.
That said, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly option with a fantastic host.
Just be prepared for less-than-ideal cleaning standards.

You get what you pay, and if you don’t care much then it’s just fine 😊 The reviews here are accordingly to the type of accommodation that someone is looking for. If the purpose is to just spend the night as cheap as possible then it’s perfect.
Liked · The host is super welcoming and contributes big time to the experience. He taught me how to play domino and took me to a local chicken fight that was thrilling even if it was brutal! Had a tradition breakfast for free and tea. Just spend the night and continued my trip.
Disliked · Having expectations is not recommended. It’s dirty, there are cockroaches in the bathroom and the single room has no windows therefore no fresh air. There is an annoying fan that does little to no job. BUT still better than sleeping in almost same conditions but also with other people.

The menager of the hostel helped me a lot. He suggested me a restaurant for dinner, he brought me to the closet Atm to withdraw money, ANDDDD I GET A LOVELY TATTOO FROM HIM. And we played domino. It's really a simple place, simple but very welcoming. ☺️🪷🙏🏻

The room for the price is okej. The place should be little bit renovated. But. We just want to stay ovenight and they push you to take dolphins tour. Even you say, that you don't want to. It was really enoying.
Evening we played domino and drink some alkohol with cola. They really love to play domino. But we just sometimes needed our space.
The man has some problems with behavior, the young girl is really nice.
However, if you want to save money by accomodation for one night is good.
But I do not recommended it.

It is a great place to stay. It is only five minutes walking to the beach and to the touristic area. Kadex, who runs this place is a such lovely guy. He will do his best to make you feel comfortable and happy. He arranged a dolphin watching tour which was fabulous, and toke me to visit a stunning Buddhist temple, to swim in a beautiful hot spring, and to taste delicious local food. We played domino, cards, enjoyed a good laugh and shared great conversations. I am more than happy to recommend Apollo Hostel for your stay.

Unsafe experience. In the morning after the staff left at 10am, I was having breakfast — a local man turned up on pink scooter, approached me and groped me. With no one around this was terrifying, the number to call didn't work, so after running to the place down the road I ended up staying there the next night, which was super safe.
Concerns are for solo female travelers coming here in low season, be aware that these things can happen in situations you'd think are safe. Also unsure if any staff slept at the property, which is a concern especially if you're the only guest. Don't expect someone to be there when you want to check in, either.
The owner has a very forceful presence, I found him uncomfortable to be around. When I arrived I was so tired but he told me to wait for his friend who owned a diving shop, who was also an uncomfortable, pushy presence. I was also told they provide free rice wine mixed with cola every night whilst you play dominoes, which sounds strange, too (I went to bed too early to witness this, but see other reviews). Generally untrustworthy and ambushing. A couple of days later the owner brought the 'crazy guy' local to the new place I stayed at 11pm, made me feel extremely uncomfortable and upset, demanding to know what had happened (when he definitely already knew from the staff of the new place) and I got the sense he didn't believe me.
And the place: The room at the back had some bed bugs at the time.

1 star is generous! Although on the surface the owner seems friendly (I do believe he genuinely intends to make friends through his business) but his drinking problem, predatory behaviour and forceful attitude make his presence very uncomfortable. Once he's had a few shots of 'happy drink' it gets worse. These negative character traits seem to rub off on the variety of friends and staff he has hanging around the hostel. The hostel itself has potential but is being neglected in favour of 'partying'.

This hostel is fantastic. Go there if you like to meet great people and have a lot of fun. The manager Kadex greets you with a heartly "Welcome to Apollo". And he really means it. He cares about his guests as about his friends. In a few minutes we are all as a familly. He helps to arrange: rent motorbike, the tours, the food, the nights with fire and guitar on the beach, the domino plays every evening with arak mixer for the loosers, the photos on booking. Com when there is so much fun, the dolphin watching, motorbike lessons, singing and playing guitar, fishing, shuttle bus to anywhere. He is a great host and a caring friend.
And now he has finished the beautiful swimming pool. Wow! There will be some great parties on that pool. Love it!

I would like to have the boom-gun in the toilet. I spend so much time in Asia that toilet paper is not enough for me any more. I like the tradition here to wash the bottom after use.
And I would like to have lockers. It makes me feel more secure.
