Great property. Marvelous view. Comfortable stay. Lavish dining. No better place to be, than Windamere, Darjeeling.

A legacy at the heart of Darjeeling, Windamere hotel is proud of Bengal and India at large. Windamere is situated at prime location but because it is at an elevation of the mall, so crowd will not able to locate it properly. The entry is steep and they could've made the entry from park side but that will make it too available and there might be privacy concern. The best thing of Windamere is the fireplaces built inside the rooms which I like the most. It is so soothing in the chilling January. The movie Barfi is shot here and you will found the famous dog shown in Barfi. This hotel is made by Britishes and is currently run by a french lady. So to sum up, the heritage of British is nurtured by French art. Awesome.

Quaint and cozy resort tucked into a ridge overlooking the Darjeeling mall. A planter's retreat back in the day, the property has been superbly converted into an excellent resort. Made up of a cluster of snug cottages and comfy rooms, the property has attracted an eclectic crowd of discerning travelers and celebrities alike over the years. Comfortable rooms and excellent service (complete with hot water bottle turn down service in the winter! ), are the hallmarks. The in house dining room serves quality cuisine three times a day. Highly recommended.

We stayed with kids for 2 nights. We were well greeted and checkin process was smooth. Great place for kids and amazing location and views. Rooms were clean and tidy. Staff were polite and cheerful. Food was great though it gets crowded during peak times.

Grounds and rooms comfortable, but food was horrible. It was based on 1950's English menus (liver! )

The natural view, specially the view of Kanchenzangha peak is exceptionally beautiful. In a moonlit night the view is heaven like. Enjoy the natural view visiting DARJEELING. It is the queen of hills.

Unwelcoming to outside guests. Be advised if you want to have lunch or tea please have the urge a day before to visit and book. Most unfriendly unlike the other places of Darjeeling. They really are hung up on that COLONIAL bit.

My friends and I attended afternoon tea here. It cost 800 rupees each. The cakes and scones were lovely. Sandwiches were a bit simple. Tea was OK.

It is a heritage hotel of Darjeeling. It is best hotel of Darjeeling. Very traditional and royal. You can get best view of Kanchanjanha from this hotel.

A hotel, a destination in its own right. Service to small care and an atmosphere "so british" ultra pleasant.

Average room, below average food, poor service. The fireplace and hot water bottle was a nice touch though. Would pick Mayfair next time.

Rooms are basic but cosy. Warm fire place every evening. Food is not good.

Not a bad one! I have enjoyed this hotel several times… Food is good, quality :) but all English …. NO DESI test ……: ( This is the place to enjoy British Aroma …. Taste it to believe it!
