One of the many resorts dotting the cliffs of Varkala which differentiates itself clearly with a good decor, great rooms and no hassles check in and check out. Only basic amenities are provided in the rooms. All rooms and villas have ac. It's not difficult to get to by car but there's parking available and it's in best location to visit the cliff stored and even to run down to the beach. Views are awesome specially from the restaurant and there's fresh catch available most days.

Location wise it's perfect. Great view to the sea and almost at the center of the cliff. Food is good and the place is almost always populated. Rooms however can be better, cleanliness and maintenance wise not worth rs 2500 (sea view room) … The worst problem I faced was the disturbance of stray dogs… My wife and I are scared of stray dogs and there are 3-4 dogs roaming inside the property, sometimes even entering open rooms in search of food… This is just a personal opinion, you're free to visit if you are fond of dogs. Other things considered, a good place to stay with a great view and good food.

The rooms were below average for the price we paid. Even at prime locations a better room is available for the same price range. The sheets were unclean, toilets were not maintained well and the roof even leaked when it rained late at night. The door lock did not fall and there was not even a handle on it. The lobby smelled awful. On a positive note, restaurant was really good and the view of the sea over the cliff was great.

We had booked rooms at Clafouti Beach Resort online based on the images we saw on the website. To our surprise, the rooms weren't as good as what they showcased. It was dingy and smelled weird. They told us that, this was what foreigners preferred. The staff also behaved arrogantly. We requested to switch rooms of equivalent rates or extra. We ended up getting a cheaper room which did not have an A/C remote or power. We had to request for it. However, the restaurant served good food and since Varkala was one of our favourite getaways, we ended up managing our stay.

Neat and clean hotel at North Cliff Varkala. Good Ayurveda massage centre with experienced masseuse's. Excellent food. Beach is just a few minutes walk away down the cliff.

We had breakfast and Lunch from Clafouti Restaurant. It was yummy! Good service. Friendly staff. Nice view of sea from rooftop restaurant. If you are a lucky guy, you will see Dolphins too from there.

Good place for western food. Avoid it if you are looking to have authentic Indian food, as the Indian food that you get there is tailored for western taste. Otherwise a nice beach view hangout place at the cliff.

Wonderful experience… spacious room… food is good. Staffs are good learners … swimming pool is awesome… Mr. Lothario help us a lot… thank u so much… pool is commendable… we all felt it is the cocci land.

Awesome beach view hotel. Just on the perfect position of the cliff. The restaurant food taste and menu was awesome. The view of the sea from the restaurant was mind blowing. They have a few cottages from which you can enjoy the scenery the most.

According to the location of the resort the price is very good. Awesome location just beach side. The rooms are clean and interior is beautiful.

Beautiful place. Went to their restaurant for breakfast. Has a tintanic feel on the first floor. Very good portion sizes and happy with the experience. Did not stay at the property as it was expensive for me but hopefully will soon. Beautiful location for vacation.

Not a bad place.
A little over-promoted, but still all fast enough and tasty. The waiters are cheerful, in every way trying to joke, not very intrusive.
Prices like everywhere on the cliff in institutions of this level. From above there is a great view of the sea.

I stayed in heritage villa for two nights. The room size is very small but it is okay for two adults. The cleanliness is not that great floor mats were soiled. The room lacks lots of basic amenities like water bottle, electric kettle etc. For this price range they should upgrade the facilities they provide. Clafouti restaurant is one of the best in cliff, they provide wide range of cuisines. The evening sea food is at its best the cost depends on the current market rate.

The restaurant is very good and you eat the good fish.

I'm renewing my older review. The lunch was mediocre. My friends did not like the pasta they served, it was bland. The fish burger was good. The momos had nothing special in it. They also served good orange juice. The view from the restaurant to the ocean is relaxing.

I find it unacceptable that in the room at Clafouti Beach Resort to pay extra for a room that is said to be comfortable where nothing has worked or hot water for 2 days. You were reported yesterday. The mattress is completely high. You can come check with me. I do not intend to pay extra for a room in such a state please call the host Manager. L'm not happy. I will complain to the booking service claim. Avoided this place a board to sleep.

This place and this restaurant are excellent. Delicious variety of dishes. Natural! Juices. Lovely waiters. The view from the second floor of the restaurant is amazing. Welcome in Varkala!

I just visited the restaurant, and the food was really good compared to other places around. Fish/Prawns with coconut curry and curry leaves are really good. Don't order pizza if you had a good pizza experience somewhere else. Try Chinese.

We only visited this place for a breakfast. Good views, very nicely built resort. Best looking in all the places on cliff. The breakfast itself was well portioned, delicious and accompanied with awesome service.

It's a good place to stay. Very good location. Rooms might not have basic things like soap or shampoo in bath but they are clean. Restaurant is just amazing and staff is cool. If you are there for a birthday, let reception know as they can offer to arrange a surprise room decorations for the one.

We found ourselves comfortable here. Service is good and friendly. Food in the restaurant good. In the immediate vicinity are small shops and Schnick Schnack store.

Very nice tourists — place. Also suitable for Indian skeptics. Everything there: Shops with frills, restaurant across Beet, music etc. On top of that there is a fantastic sunset on top of that!

An amazing resort. Situated on the cliff along with the a huge variety of exotic restaurants Clafouti Beach resort manages to stand out. Tranquility covers the whole resort early in the morning and it's lively well into the night. The beach is very easily accessible and enjoyable. The chefs are really good and the food is excellent except for the squid. Had a really good time in the resort.

We visited this resort in October 2017. This place is too good in all respects. Restaurant is on the beach with their own sunbeds. The rooms are neat and clean surrounded by greenery all over. Breakfast was also good. Staff is very friendly. Me and my friends had a great time there. We will definitely visit this place again.

The Resort is centrally located on the cliff, as we can get to almost any café or restaurant on the cliff in 4-5 minutes. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and very clean. The food at Clafouti Beach restaurant is delicious with an affable staff. A great experience in all!

It was okay. But the manager was extremely helpful and polite. Food wise it was average. There are better option. But the clafouti resort is great. Picturesque and comfortable.

Very nice place with great view. We all loved the food there their breakfast is amazing. The staff was very helpful. The only let down was the massage which they did not do well. A sure place to visit!

It's my favorite restaurant in Varkala. Clean, friendly staff, great fresh fish and variety of food, very good value for money.

Ate at the restaurant multiple times. The seafood was very cheap and very good. Had the yellow fin tuna steak and tandoori butterfish! Was very good!

Had some of our best dinners in varkala here! The staff were genuine and friendly. We had fresh tuna and crab one night and tandoori butter fish the next which was the best fish Ive had in my life. Great recommendation by the staff and very reasonably priced also.

Clafouti is a very nice and beautiful getaway for families and groups. The neighborhood is very pleasant and you can always find peoples from different time zones. There's an excellent restaurant on deck which serves fairly wide range of dishes and different kinds of beverages as well. You can enjoy an uninterrupted view of the fascinating sea while you have your meal. Sometimes you could here the waves crash against the shore. Wish you Good Riddance from your stress and hope you everyone will have a whale of a time. Gracias :)

Ordered mahi mahi, seared fish, and calamari. Mahi was tandoori style and seared was grilled. Very spicy but delicious. Service was excellent. My calamari was over cooked so they took it back and gave me another one. Great food and service.

Dirty bed linen and towels. Well that took its toll. The pillows are black. There are no wardrobes, nowhere to put and hang clothes, do the cleaning. Not always have hot water. Doesn't always work the Internet. High price for low features. If the reservation specified a balcony, in fact missing. Of the benefits good cond, sea view, TV, near a great restaurant.

This review is for the Clafouti restaurant that's attached to the resort, but is open for everyone. Their menu is quite diverse, and we ended up with a quite a few dishes from various cuisines. They maintain a good standard for the food they served, and we enjoyed everything we ordered, like the steamed momos, the veg. Sizzler, the spicy thai yellow curry, etc… Their pastries are up to par as well, though we didn't much like their version of the banoffee pie. The view on the upper deck on the restaurant is beautiful, and there are numerous shops on either side, making it a great place to eat while on a shopping expedition.

One of the best beach resort and restaurant. Food is of course bit expensive. The view is amazing. Perfect for a weekend getaway.

There is something about this restaurant. They have the best catch of the day. We have gone around many places in varkala. Somehow clafouti is always on the list Have a great time there. Looking forward to many more visits.

The restaurant is the cleanest here. Good prices and food choice. Sea view. Takes cards! We did not stayed at hotel.

Best option for food on the cliff, consistently tasty and relatively cheap. The Thai food in particular is really good.

Hated it! There's no television even in the higher rated rooms. Rooms are too small! Will not recommend to anyone.
