The Sherpas Abode

We stayed at Sherpa’s Abode from 26-Dec-2025 to 28-Dec-2025 (2 nights), and it turned out to be one of the most memorable stays we’ve ever had in Sikkim.
The hosts, Nema Sherpa and Chungi Lhamu Bhutia, are extraordinary people—warm, caring, and genuinely attentive. The rooms were spotless, hygienic, and very comfortable. The food was healthy, home-cooked, and absolutely delicious. One special highlight was the bonfire evening, which made our winter stay even more special. The Tongba (traditional millet wine) was excellent and added a lovely local touch.
What truly sets Sherpa’s Abode apart is the heart of the hosts. When we fell ill during our stay, they looked after us just like family, even giving us healthy herbal remedies free of cost for gastric issues. Their concern and care were deeply touching.
Complimentarily, they even took us by car early in the morning to a nearby viewpoint, where we witnessed Mount Kanchenjunga glowing in a beautiful reddish hue, an unforgettable sight.
Although there are a few steps going downstairs to reach the homestay, my elderly parents-in-law still preferred staying here, purely because of the warmth of the hosts, the cleanliness, and the excellent food.
Whenever I visit Sikkim again, especially for Gurudongmar Lake, I will definitely stop and stay at Sherpa’s Abode. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic hospitality and a soulful stay.

The Sherpa Abode — words are truly not enough to describe their hospitality.
When we got out of the car, we saw only a small, narrow road leading to the homestay, and honestly, our first thought was that maybe we had booked the wrong place. But the moment we entered their home, their warm welcome and beautiful smiles won our hearts 💕
During our Sikkim trip, we stayed at other hotels as well, but my son said that he loved Sherpa Abode the most. That truly says everything. It’s not always about money; it’s all about kindness, warmth, and how you treat people.
They take care of every small detail with so much love and attention. We had their homemade Nepali food on both days, and it was absolutely delicious. We especially loved their special homemade slightly spicy chutney — it was amazing!
They helped us in every possible way, truly going beyond their boundaries to make our stay comfortable. The room was spacious, neat, and very clean.
Everything was perfect. Highly recommended, and I will definitely visit Sherpa Abode again.

I went to Nima Uncle's homestay at the month of May, 25. From welcoming to everything he and his family took care of everything. It never felt like a hotel but rather a home. Nima uncle is quite the father figure who will always call you before you start your journey and help you at every point possible. He has some awesome contacts, be it for local sightseeing or, pick and drop. He offered me warm jackets and gloves on the day of Nathula trip and also arranged oxygen canister for safety.
Aunty on the other hand took care of our emotional need i. E food. I still can't get over her wonton soup and a spicy chutney she prepared for breakfast. Rest all the members were also very helpful. Nima uncle's son provided me with contacts to buy good trekking gear. I had a nice chat with him too regarding Kolkata, college and politics.
I felt sad while leaving the place but rest assured will visit soon. ❤️

I had a very good experience while staying in The Sherpas Abode. The rooms were great, the food was so good and the hospitality was the best part of the sherpas abode. I would say that my whole gangtok trip was accelerated only because of this homestay. They were in constant communication with me and the stay had so many connections with other packages and site seeing packages that they were able to arrange a small discount. This homestay is an absolute package. They suggest everything right from the travel, food to eat as well as the places to visit. I would recommend everyone to stay at this homestay if you are coming to gangtok because they deserve every support and recognition. Will definitely visit again soon there.

The sherpa's abode we choose after seeing the reviews on Google, booking. Com when we booked the hotel uncle Nima also arranged cab services for us from njp. The welcome in sherpa's abode was very nice. The food is prepared by hotel staff here, it is extremely delicious 😋 just as home food. The breakfast is very very delicious. Just one point, even if it is far from mg marg, it has the best view I think so the best view of any hotels in gangtok. Uncle is very kind and helpful. I would love to recommend this hotel to everyone. I have never felt such a nice and homely stay ever that sherpa's abode has given us. Thank you so much for ur service. Stayed at Sherpa's Abode during last month. What a cordial reception!.
The stay is like a honeyed jack fruit arils. Utterly butterfly smooth and sweet. Entry and exit are like jack fruit spines especially for elders and slightly unclean.
However, this trivial difficulty disappears when you enter the Abode due to their personal touch and comfort level. Mr Sherpa can also organise travel plans and suitable vehicles which we did not try.

This is a nice homestay. Service was excellent. Specially Nima uncle is very kind person, who helped us in all aspects. He guided us from beginning to the end along with local tour. The food was superb. Overall I will recommend everyone to stay here to enjoy the Gangtok tour.

Sherpa’s Abode in Gangtok was one of the most heartwarming stays we’ve ever had. The home itself is cozy, spotless, and beautifully designed, with a breathtaking view from the balcony that makes you want to just sit and soak in the mountains for hours.
The real gem, though, is the owner—Uncle. He was incredibly friendly, loving, and treated us like family. His warmth made the stay unforgettable. He even called us after we checked out just to make sure we reached our next destination safely—such a rare and thoughtful gesture.
The food was another highlight—completely home-cooked, wholesome, and delicious. Breakfast usually had boiled eggs, bananas, and warm parathas—simple, filling, and made with love. One of our favorites at dinner was a unique dish made with sprouted fenugreek—so tasty and nourishing! The staff were also very polite and attentive, making sure we felt at home throughout.
If you're looking for peaceful vibes, great food, stunning views, and genuine hospitality, Sherpa’s Abode is the perfect spot. Can’t wait to go back!

We stayed for 2 days in Sherpa's Abode, it's more like visiting our another relative. The hospitality, food, rooms are all top class. With all these Pros only Cons we felt was, the access from road has 20-25 steps, for young and middle age it's not a issue. But for elderly, they find it difficult, we had 2 people 70+.
Other than this every thing was good. Will definitely recommend it, for the food and hospitality.

Sherpa's Abode, Gangtok:
Me and my wife stayed at this property for almost a week, around end March-2025. The room was very comfortable, clean and with all the facilities and a strong Wi-Fi. A big attached balcony led to a breathtaking view of the valley. The Host couple, who are the owners are highly hospitable, caring. A variety of hot, home cooked food they served was tasty and yummy. And it was nit heavy on the pockt. All in all it was a memorable stay.

Sherpa Abode is by far the best place to stay in Gangtok. Nima Uncle is an amazing host, always ready to guide you and take care of everything as if you were his own. Chunki Aunty’s cooking is on another level – once you try her food, you’ll never want to eat anywhere else!
The view from the balcony is breathtaking and worth every moment. It adds so much charm to the whole experience.
Our stay was incredibly comfortable, and we absolutely adored the homestay. Both Uncle Nima and Aunty Chunki are truly kind-hearted people, and their hospitality made our trip even more special. We’ll definitely choose to stay here again whenever we visit Sikkim.

Staying at Sherpa's Abode was a truly heartwarming experience. Uncle, Aunty, and the entire staff welcomed us with open arms and made us feel like part of their family. Aunty's food was hands down the best we've had during our trip—every meal was cooked with so much love and care.
Their adorable dogs, Shelly and Caesar, added to the charm of our stay. They were incredibly friendly and made us feel even more at home.

They are a family. Such a gentle behaviour. They are service oriented people. No greed for money. They have link with the local drivers. The owner took care of my day trip. I should definitely mention about their food, which is out of the world. Must try chicken curry for dinner and must try paratha for breakfast. Ask for heaters if you want. They give it for an extra cost. Overall, it was a fantastic place to be present at.

This is the best homestay in Gangtok and one of the best in India. Mr. Sherpa's family treated us like their own family. Food prepared by auntie was delicious. Service was excellent and rooms were spotless clean. Must try is chicken curry and rice and the home prepared chutneys. Looking forward to come back next month again.

This Homestay offered me everything I could ask for and beyond to make my Anniversary special. Located on the way to Nathula pass, Changu lake, walking distance from Ganesh Tok and 10 mins away the MG Marg offers the most scenic view from the balcony and the view of Kanchenjanga from the terrace with extremely comfortable rooms, but the best part about this homestay are the owner and staff filled with warmth, the owner Uncle is the best guide and offers best suggestions regarding the trip and Aunty make the best food with local touch which will remind you of home, after eating out the whole day you will love it. They made special arrangements to make our 2nd Anniversary special, they got us cake, special wine bottles, lights and even performed small traditional ceremony, we were touched to the core by the warmth and love. Spoke to other guests also from foreigners to Indian guests they had the same experience, you can try the special Millet wine locally prepared with owner aunty's culinary touch to it (must try). We couldn't help but extend our stay here with these kind and loving people, while checking out from the homestay with heavy heart in the morning 4 am the owners made sure to see us off that early and didn't let us go without a hot cup of tea and even offered breakfast that early. This place is a must stay if you are visiting Sikkim (Gangtok). Highly recommended.
