We were desperate to step out as my cousin brother came down after a long time. We came to know about this property from words of mouth and reached without much expectations. I must say that after two nights we came back highly impressed. Beautiful setting next to the river Rupnarayan. We stayed in the rooms with excellent view of the river. Everything impressed us. Room size, cleanliness, service with smile and the promptness in spite of huge weekend crowd but the special mention is for the food. Simply outstanding taste of Bengali cuisine. Every dish including the local Mishti Doi they provided were crafted so well. They may have to implement some rules strongly like people (men in this case) can't walk to the room with towel on from the swimming pool and looking at the frequency I think it is less of hotel problem but the people's approach. There is big notice advising against the same. I shall thank Rana from room service for his service with smile and can't end without mentioning about Gautam Babu. He runs the property and I wondered how he managed time to check our well being at such frequency and arrange everything. We will go back again and again and recommended to lots of our friends. Govt may help them making the approach road better and cleaning the riverside.

Spacious, tastefully done up rooms and suits. Really well maintained swimming pool and bikes to ride around. And delectable cuisine. The cruise through mangroves is a mandatory activity. Tiger sighting depends on your Karma. Worth 2 night stay. Start early from Calcutta.

Hotel property is really good but the management of the kitchen is horrible. We are 9 peoples includes 5 year old kid and 75 years my mom. We had ordered our dinner in advance simple chicken kasha and roti around 3 pm. But we had to starve whole night because of their inefficiency of arranging such smple dinner. The charge unnecessary huge one roti cost 27rs and one bottle mineral water cost 85 rs plus gst in both cases. They were looting tourist in the name of food. I recommend visit sonar bangla other part of bengal not this one. Horrible experience with my family.

Sonar Bangla Kolkata Taki is amazing hotel with all luxury facilities, in reasonable price. The food quality is very good and they have elaborate choice in buffet. The room view has panoramic view giving you the view of the whole ichamati river. The staffs are warm and courteous. I would love to visit this place again and again and would strongly recommend all.

Not Recommended once you have realized the substandard experience post the visit. Atrocious conduct, no phone manners. Unresponsive and complete erratic behaviour from a certain someone from their corporate office. They literally start schooling you from who you should raise your concerns and who you shouldn't. Very very unsavory experience. I have stayed in one of the finest of hotels across India and abroad and attended so many conferences as a visitor and a professional, but this sort of an employee conduct as part of PR handling is downright pathetic. Almost seemed like self service to an extent. Overpriced rooms.

Hotel sonar bangla kolaghat is a pathetic place to go. Rude employees and they served poor and stale food. Don't go to waste your money. Excessive over priced.

Very good infrastructure and international level ambience at Taki HSB. Would highly recommend.

Worst unprofessional staff Snehasis — Sonar Bangla Taki
I had booked 3 rooms for a 2 nights stay with anniversary celebration. For my marriage anniversary celebration contacted the Sonar Bangla team beforehand and was in contact with their staff Snehasis. First, he promised to offer the Sky Lounge area with decoration for our evening celebration, which will cost 3000. I agreed. On the day of occasion I was surprised while he mentioned that the Sky Lounge area won't be provided as some workers are working for another event! How come? How can he fail his promise on our anniversary date? After that, he insisted that an alternate area, cottage/hut area in the lawn will be offered with full decoration. I had no option left but to agree with him and promised within 5.30 PM, he will offer the full decorated area. Biggest Surprise, at 5.24 PM he mentioned due to accident of a person, he is not able to provide the decoration! HOW COME A STAFF KEEP LYING AND ALSO MISBEHAVING ME OVER PHONE AGAIN AND AGAIN? ATTACHED IMAGES ARE PROOF OF EVERYTHING.
After reaching the Hotel manager, Ajay assured that by 7PM they will decorate an area for the celebration. Finally around 8PM we got a small decorated area with some balloons, but surely not worth spending Rs. 3000 for that decoration that was actually worth 500-1000.
IMMEDIATELY HOTEL NEED TO TAKE ACTION, otherwise I will keep spreading the truth everywhere to aware the visitors. other bad points about the hotel —

Beautiful place. Good food and familiar atmosphere.

This hotel is located near the light house of Puri, its on the sea beach. But the condition of the hotel is really poor and needs emergency refurbishment. Rooms are extremely small and just ok for two adults and an infant. The rooms are tired and missing any amenities. Staff are also untrained and unwilling to help the guests. The beach in the front is nice and suitable for families.

Very good place to stay. Very helpful staff. Food quality is very good and homely. They provide free seaside chairs. Beach is less crowded. So one can have a nice quite bath.

Rooms are unclean, and not well kept. Sheets were dusty. Water in the taps was extremely salty and is not meant for sanitary use. Staff were still courteous and did try to help rectify the situation, so keeping 1 star for that.

Nice rooms clean. The restaurant was decent and the staff was nice. Most of the rooms have partial sea view. Couple of rooms per floor had full sea view.

Awesome location. Room service, food quality are good. Value for money to stay here.

Hotel is good, located away from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you love to enjoy the beach privately… look no further. Food is awesome… specially the Bengali cuisine, you are bound to feel at home. Rooms are okay, some needs maintenance… specially the ACs. Overall a very calm and satisfactory stay is promised. Note: Book the sea facing rooms for better experience.

Well Positioned Hotel. Can enjoy the sea from your bed. Well behaved room service. But need some maintenance. Rooms are okay with fully featured Bath. Food qualities are quite bad, need some good cook. Buffet system Breakfast with proper arrangements, conceptually good.

My third stay in this hotel. Found much deterioration this time. Rooms are not maintained. AC poorly functioning. Remote not working. If you pre booked the hotel, management tries to give lower quality rooms. Food quality good. Restaurant staffs and general staffs are well behaved. Plus point : close to sea beach.

Excellent location. Just bang on the beach. Sea facing rooms are excellent. I stayed there for 3 nights. But the rooms are small and bathrooms very small. Food is average compared to the price. Staff are very well behaved and service is good.

Nice place. Far from the madding crowd. Good view. Most of the rooms have sea view. Maintenance requires improvement. Though staffs, especially room service etc, are okay. Restaurant is passable.

Very good hotel for staying in puri. Charges are moderate. Their rooms specially sea facing rooms are excellent. Their service are excellent. Behaviour, hospitality, management all are excellent. They are very much cooperative specially their General Manager looks after every bit of operation of daily works. Its really a good experience for us.

Pathetic and horrible hotel. The service is too bad. You need to call them 4 times for things to be done. The water is salty and one cannot even wash his/her face. The restaurant does not have many options and the taste was bad. Staff behaviour especially the receptionist is not at all good. Lacks behind in hospitality. We got a room at the 4th floor but the lift doesnt work. Easily one of the worst experience I had Not going back there again. Not recommendable to anyone. The only plus point is it's location, nothing else.

It is a very good hotel. The rooms are clean and the room service is also good. The hotel is on the beach so there is a good view of ocean also.

View of the sea from the room is wonderful… Rooms are well maintained. Location is awesome. Not too much crowded. A perfect place to stay and spend quality time with friends and family.

Very good location overlooking bay of Bengal at Puri beach near light house area. Hotel is very good looking with all modern amenities. Most of the rooms are sea facing with attached balcony. One can pass the day only seeing non stop waves sitting at balcony of the.

Hotel was true 3 star property. A very neat and clean hotel with efficient staff. All machines like lift, a/c, geysers, tea and coffee makers worked perfectly. Toilet was nice and toiletries replant she'd regularly. House keeping staff were efficient. Restaurant was nice but menu limited. Complimentary breakfast sumptuous but monotonous. Location is fantastic.

Here is my evaluation of the Hotel after a four day stay: Good things 1. The hotel rooms has a nice sea view. Even if you take any side sea view rooms, you will get good view, because there are no hotels just next to it. 2. Booking process was good, Employees sitting at the reception were very polite and helpful. 3. Food taste in the adjoining restaurant was good. Bad things 1. First and biggest problem is there is no fresh water connection to any rooms. If you are here for 1 days or 2 days it will be still manageable, but a longer stay will leave you totally salty and uncomfortable. 2. The lower staffs are polite, but need more close vigilance, they do not refill the complementary stuffs like shampoo, soap, tea bags, coffee pouch etc every day. I felt management provides those things to the lower staffs, but they finds ways to not pass on to the guests. 3. It has a hostel like atmosphere, you need to be back at hotel by 11PM. The lower staffs / guards starts arguing with guests if they come after 11. They close gates, elevators etc. Infront of me they had a big fight with some elederly guests who wanted to use elevator after 11PM. As per them, this is normal in that particular hotel area (Lighthouse area), and all hotels on that area are like that. 4. Though food taste is good, food quantity according to the price is not so good. Final Verdict… You can visit the hotel for shorter stays if you are getting a good deal, and do not mind the hostel kind of environment.

I have stayed in the hotel for three nights with my family. I do not hesitate to state that Staffs from front desk to room service or others are polite and helpful. Location and ambience are good. But quality of food was not up to the mark and sometimes it was below average. Management to look into the matter to improve the quality of food supplied. At the dinner one day we were served mixed fried rice and another day hotchpotch. Taste buds nowhere near impressed. Even there was reason to believe that the chef keeping in mind the importance of food made the dishes from left over boiled rice. Another concern is to manage to bath and wash with saline water.

Great stay. Strategically located on sea beach. One can enjoy sea beach right from balcony. Very prompt in service. Good food. Friendly and efficient hotel staffs.

Most fabulous things about this hotel is its service… very prompt, hassle free and transparent. Stayed with my elderly parents. Value for money. Will visit again. I will give 9 out of 10.

This hotel is a very good hotel just next to puri Beach. From any beach view room one can enjoy the view of the beach through out the day and night. They also provide cycles for free for cycling. But their breakfast buffet is although good but items are very limited to choose from.

Really a good location to stay and take bath at beach. Running water in bathroom is too bad, sour and bitter. Overall a good place to stay at a place far from huge crowd of Puri.

Nice location. Very small rooms. Specially the toilets are abnormally small. Food quality average. Dining room is shabby.

Quiet place, bit far from Swargadwar and market places. Have to spend 40 rupees for each rickshaw trip. But sea can be enjoyed thoroughly. Rooms could be better. Staff and service are good. But beware of the salty water. Restaurant and food were good, but a bit expensive may be. My overall experience was satisfactory but could be better.

Behaviour of the Staffs and attendants are very polite and gentle. But the Worst thing is Tap water of this hotel is normal sea water… So everytime you bath or wash your mouth the salted water will thrill you…

Nice and family beach front hotel. Excellent location good food and hospitality.

Rooms look good, far from Swargadwar and you need to take rikshaw each time you want to go to the center. Quiet place, good view from room. But the most essential thing that is WATER and here you get totally SALTY WATER. You can't bathe, wash face or brush teeth. For the water is no better than the sea water. Eyes burn. You feel sticky after shower.

Recent experience at this hotel for just 3 days. Outstanding team effort. Each and every respective dept. Doing their job very consistently. Very familiar atmosphere. Must go there again. a single request to the management — for security men please provide a shade if possible because its looking inhuman standing in the burning sun for 365 days. thanks a lot again.

The location is great — from your room you can see the Bay of Bengal — taste of food needs to improve. Fron facade of hotel is nice. Rooms need to improve. Courteous stuff but again front desk needs to be better off.

I stayed in Sonar Bangla in November 2016. The rooms provide superb view of the ocean. We loved taking tea sitting on the balcony and watching the sun dipping into the ocean. They have a spacious lawn where children can play. Charge is not too high and negotiable. All the amenities required for comfort are provided. Service and behavior of the staffs are good. A very big plus point is that the breakfast is complementary and the quantity, variety and quality of foods are simply the best. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Next time we go we'll definitely opt for Hotel Sonar Bangla.
