This place was a highlight of the trip — Varanasi in itself was so special but the guys here made it even more so. I recommend the boat and walking tour if it is your first visit to the city, Shiva took us and we learnt a lot about the ghats and surrounding areas that we would not have seen/understood otherwise. The location is great, just a short walk to the nearest ghat (which is just a couple down from the nightly festival) and close also to the burning ghats. The food was great too, they have a varied international menu. We ended up coming home with some of the Jungle Honey, which is disappearing at an alarming rate. There was a mix-up on our room on arrival and we ended up in a small box room at the top of the building near the rooftop terrace but this was because they had given our lower floor room to an elderly solo traveler instead, who we later became good friends with. The A/C was out in our room too after a monkey had burst a water pipe the day we arrived! This did make the nights uncomfortable with the heat but this is India! Overall this was one of the best places we stayed at, lounging out in the rooftop garden in good company listening to live sitar with cold drinks, what else is there?
