Desert Gateway Resorts

I stayed with my family and booked three cottage rooms.
Despite the photos they shared with us before booking, which are available on all platforms, the reality is completely different. It's a better choice to stay in a 1-star hotel than at the Desert Gateway resort.
The room and bathroom are not clean. Going with family or a couple is not recommended.

Overall good experience. Tant was very spacious, it is more spacious than you think. Food was great, folk dance and song performances was also great. One thing I should mention, if someone is very skeptical about alchohol then you can talk with owner about it, this place allows alchohol but there is no problem with it, they enjoy themselves and you enjoy yourself.

👎 Negatives:
Near to all other camps, during cultural program all other camps music will intermingle. But majority of camps are like this in this area. If looking for secluded then search accordingly.
Room & Cleanliness.
👍 Positives:
Rooms were clean, well-maintained, and comfortable and hygienic bathrooms.
👎 Negatives:
Rooms are huge, no amenities in the rooms like kettle, tea or coffee sachets.
Staff & Service.
👍 Positives:
Courteous and cooperative staff.
Smooth check-in and check-out process.
👎 Negatives:
Response time very slow, you will have to call again and again for the room service and take follow up every 10-15 mins. Poor and untrained room service.
Food & Breakfast.
👍 Positives:
Freshly prepared items.
👎 Negatives:
Limited variety, taste below average. Don't expect much from food.
Amenities.
👍 Positives:
Most essential was hot water, which was more than sufficient.
👎 Negatives:
Some amenities feel basic.
No standout facilities for leisure travellers.
Value for Money.
👍 Positives:
Reasonably priced for the location and cleanliness.
Good option for short stays (overnight)
👎 Negatives:
Need improvement on proactiveness of staff and food.
✅ Final Verdict.
A balanced and dependable stay with more positives than negatives.
Ideal for travellers who value cleanliness, location, and courteous service over luxury. Cultural program was good, but rowdy people were there in DJ.
Would I stay again?

Had a great stay at a camp in Jaisalmer. The overall experience was really good — peaceful desert vibes, beautiful surroundings, and a relaxing atmosphere. The arrangements were comfortable and well managed, making the stay enjoyable. A nice place to experience the charm of the desert. 🌵✨
Girdhar bhai ne dhyan bhi rakha.

The resort was in a very bad condition, it was very dirty fully opposite to as shown in the picture. They are charging so high but their service was pathetic.
1. The overall resort was in very bad condition.
2. For us dinner and breakfast was included but we regret that, it was so tasteless and unhygienic.
3. The cultural show was too boring, audience was not involved and felt too bored.
4. The swiming pool was very dirty and the water in seems to be not changed since ages.
5. Location was good.
6. Room was okay, washroom was clean.
7. When we enquired for Safari with them they were asking to pay double amount, which we did in a very affordable price from the local vendors.
8. Jaislmer has full scam season this time and each and every business person is whole heartedly promoting the scam so please beware.

Our experience was wonderful! The staff is fantastic — especially Dhiraj bhai and for their warm hospitality. The evening events, lokgeet, and folk dance 💃 were truly enjoyable and added great charm to the stay.

Best place to enjoy in jaisalmer desert. Resort is best in location and services. Especially MR. DHIRAJ, the manager, was so hospitable. He took care of us all like a family.

Not recommended at all. Felt like we were cheated by. Com. There was drastic difference between rooms shown in pictures versus reality, dont trust these sites really. Cant even describe what a let down it was — Rooms were big but not clean, linens were dirty, bathroom was smelly, there were insects in the room, cultural program was way below average almost felt like some under grade dance show, crowd was bad, food options and food quality all below average. Not recommended at all.

Very good setup in the midst of the desert. Extremely warm hospitality. Authentic rajasthani folk program. Food options can be slightly better.

This place is magical at night. After a fun camel safari, we were welcomed with snacks and chai while local artists performed live music and dance. Watching the sunset over the dunes and then dining under a sky full of stars — we’ll remember this forever. Big thanks to the staff for their kindness and attention to detail. Everything felt genuine, not touristy.

By seeing online photos and reviews hotel seemed good at first but as we reached there we had such a bad experience with this hotel that no one could imagine there was mosquito all over the room and other insects tooo there was noo hot water fot bath and there were electric current coming from the water in the morningggg the was also not proper it was stale ii would like too inform people that pls do not go too this hotel its just a nightmare and would be waste of money.

Pathetic service.
Rooms are very poor. Don't judge rooms on photos. No cleaniness.

Recommend to book a branded name for tents other u will be cheated.

Location and service were amazing. Great staff!
We booked the cottage and it was not well maintained.
1. Curtain and curtain rod fell on me.
2. Wash basin was broken, handle came out.
3. Washbasin pipe was also out.
4. There was dust, it was not clean.
5. Food wasn’t good.
Most importantly, they should maintain the rooms and keep the clean for a good experience.

The overall experience was above expectation, with Mr Gridhar and his team managing the safari and cultural program very well. There was no issue on the support and amenities with delicious food for snacks, dinner and breakfast.
