कुम्भलगढ़ का दुर्ग राजस्थान ही नहीं भारत के सभी दुर्गों में विशिष्ठ स्थान रखता है। उदयपुर से ७० किमी दूर समुद्र तल से १, ०८७ मीटर ऊँचा और ३० किमी व्यास में फैला यह दुर्गमेवाड़ के यशश्वी महाराणा कुम्भा की सूझबूझ व प्रतिभा का अनुपम स्मारक है। इस दुर्ग का निर्माण सम्राट अशोक के द्वितीय पुत्र संप्रति के बनाये दुर्ग के अवशेषों पर १४४३ से शुरू होकर १५ वर्षों बाद १४५८ में पूरा हुआ था। दुर्ग का निर्माण कार्य पूर्ण होने पर महाराणा कुम्भा ने सिक्के डलवाये जिन पर दुर्ग और उसका नाम अंकित था। वास्तुशास्त्र के नियमानुसार बने इस दुर्ग में प्रवेश द्वार, प्राचीर,  जलाशय, बाहर जाने के लिए संकटकालीन द्वार,  महल,  मंदिर, आवासीय इमारतें, यज्ञ वेदी, स्तम्भ, छत्रियां आदि बने है।

Superb fort. Even the history behind this fort is amazing. My strongly recommendation is to hire a guide. 360 temples are there but only 1-2 are open for public. Fort is maintained very well. To reach here through public transport, there are very less facility. Bus are at every one hour till 8:00 PM. So if you waited to watch the light and sound show here, you won't be able to catch a bus to other destination.

This fort is so unique in its own ways. Firstly, its on a tremendous height, secondly, lovely grasslands surrounding it, thirdly, it has the second longest wall in the World, which makes it an epic thing. No direct bus routes are there to this fort. Just own a car or a private taxi and reach to the awesome destination.

This fort hasn’t got a breathtaking palace… The palace is huge but not many kingly stuff is at display… But what’s there to see is the terrain in which this fort is built… Building such a huge palace with such long and huge walls atop a hill is an impossible thing in that time… Plus the walls make you go awestruck… Such thick and massive walls… There are many gates which lead to the palace… One of the most secure place to stay in I guess… And from top of the palace you can see the entire span of these walls… I have been here twice but still wanna go again … You brain stops working when you see the size of the fort.

No good parking facilities. A lot of traffic during the peak hours. Only the scenery is impressive from the top of the fort. No facilities like horse or anything else to get to the top but the climb is not too exhausting. You will not understand the history of the fort if you don't take a guide. So hiring a guide is highly recommended.

If u love history and want to know history u must go once in life. One of great GHARH of entire Rajasthan. This fort it declared as world heritage site. Kumbhalgarh fort is best example of archeologist. It is too high from sea level. Still confused how they built this strong and large walls of this fort at this level of height. By the way its cool place.

The early history of the fort could not be ascertained on account of lack of evidence. The earliest name of the fort is believed to be Machhindrapur, while Sahib Haqim, a historian, named it Mahore. The original fort is believed to have been built by King Samprati of the Maura Age on account of the strategic importance during the 6th century. The subsequent history till 1303 AD till the invasion of Alauddin Khalji is obscure. (1) Kumbhalgarh in its current form was built and ruled by Rana Kumbha and his dynasty who were Hindu Sisodia rajputs descendents. Kumbhalgarh in its present form was developed by, and believed to have been designed by a famous architect of the era Madan. Rana Kumbha's kingdom of Mewar stretched from Ranthambore to Gwalior and included large tracts of erstwhile Madhya Pradesh as well as Rajasthan. Out of the 84 forts in his dominion, Rana Kumbha is said to have designed 32 of them, of which Kumbhalgarh is the largest and most elaborate. (2) Kumbhalgarh also separated Mewar and Marwar from each other and was used as a place of refuge for the rulers of Mewar at times of danger. A notable instance was in the case of Prince Udai, the infant king of Mewar who was smuggled here in 1535, when Chittaur was under siege. Prince Udai who later succeeded to the throne was also the founder of the Udaipur City.

One should go for it once in a lifetime. Because if we're talking about the great Wall of China and we have not visited kumbalgadh fort and wall in India then it's really a point to think. It's a really good experience to see the Fort amazing structure and beauty around the wall areas. It's not only the fort but many of the things are there which I'm sure will keep you curious. You should take guide for the complete experience of fort which will not take more than 4-5 hrs of your time. If you're staying in near by resorts then it will be a double fun.

Amazing fort. A piece out of history. The light and sound show in the evening is fabulous. It's a massive fort with 36 km of wall. It's glorious and you can take time to walk around. Afternoons are pretty hot so start early. Getting there is slightly tiring and time taking but overall it's worth it.

आपने ” The Great Wall Of China ” के बारे में तो सुना ही होगा जो कि विशव कि सबसे बड़ी दीवार है पर क्या आपने विशव कि दूसरी सबसे लम्बी दीवार के बारे में सुना है जो कि भारत में स्थित है? यह है राजस्थान के राजसमंद जिले में स्थित कुम्भलगढ़ फोर्ट कि दीवार जो कि 36 किलोमीटर लम्बी तथा 15 फीट चौड़ी है। इस फोर्ट का निर्माण महाराणा कुम्भा ने करवाया था। यह दुर्ग समुद्रतल से करीब 1100 मीटर कि ऊचाईं पर स्थित है। इसका निर्माण सम्राट अशोक के दूसरे पुत्र सम्प्रति के बनाए दुर्ग के अवशेषो पर किया गया था। इस दुर्ग के पूर्ण निर्माण में 15 साल (1443-1458) लगे थे। दुर्ग का निर्माण पूर्ण होने पर महाराणा कुम्भ ने सिक्के बनवाये थे जिन पर दुर्ग और इसका नाम अंकित था।

Its an experience to visit the forts of Rajasthan. The history though is similar to many battles around the world, its worth a visit to see the world's longest wall. At night they lite up the fort and its stunning. My roots are of Rajasthan but I feel like a foreigner when I am there.

Must see. Need to walk and climb, so, take care if any elderly people are there. We can spend 3-5 hours (including climbing). Some boards describing each places might have been kept in the fort. And carry water bottles.

Huge fort. Amazing views from the top. You have to be there before sunset so that you can witness a beautiful sunset from the top of the fort. Light show was not that good. Otherwise it's a great place to visit. ✌️

It was just awesome moment over there… The fort, the great wall, green green field. Wow… Still there in my mind afresh… We can spend whole day there with the cool breeze and lovely atmosphere. I just got dissolved in the nature beauty.

One can only marvel at the vision in building this fort. It is being restored to its former glory and is delight if you enjoy long walks climbing up the hillside without having to do rock climbing. There is a proper tar road but vehicles are not allowed up the Fort which makes the journey up enjoyable.

Awesome place to see the way how such forts are build. Light and sound show is good but not that great. Lights on Fort at night time is awesome. After great wall of China this is the the longest wall build. Definitely should visit once in a life time. Note : Take govt guide to get the history behind this Fort. Also parking is tough in pick holiday season.

A beautiful place to check out if you visit Udaipur. Very different from other forts that I have visited with very unique planning and design of spaces. Mostly well preserved and good view points. Has basic amenities spread out throughout for convenience.

It is a world heritage site and does absolute justice to the title. It is absolutely mesmerizing. I would suggest you keep aside good 3-4 hours to visit this fort. Sunset is surreal from the top. A must do excursion if you visit Udaipur.

Such a beautiful place and the view from the top is just magnificent! Life changing experience! But so much to climb and there are slopes not steps so it makes it more difficult so for people with bad health it's not suitable! Also people with fear of height shouldn't try because it's very very high and surrounded by mountains. But the view is just mesmerizing! Best during winter.

Surprising fortress with a wall of 38 kilometers! Not to be missed if one is in the area.

The fort bears testimony to the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan. The fort also consists of the second continuous wall which is another attraction. Guides are available in the premises who would help you with the folklores associated with the fort. Carry drinking water and keep yourself hydrated as you move around the fort. Washrooms and parking space are available at the foothills. The road leading to the fort is somewhat narrow with curves and rises and falls. So an expert driver is needed.

The fort is underrated. The drive from Udaipur to the fort is 80-90 kilometres and that in itself is a fun trip. The fort is huge and takes you quite a while to soak in all the magnificence. You can get picturesque views from all sides of the fort.

This is the 2nd Largest Wall in the world after China Wall, The scenery is beautiful after you reach and see the world around. The fort has not been maintained to a good extent and also the maintenance is not up to the mark. But you must see the Light Show at 7 P. M. It described the fight our Kings fought with dignity.

Very good fort. Must visit. Sorry behind this is very interesting. Closing time for entry is 6:30. Sounds and light show is also very good. It starts at 7 pm daily.

Very unique fort in it’s build and architecture. It is hidden in nature and you will not know that a fort exists even when you have reached very nearby. Be prepared for a long hike to see a breathtaking view from top.

The view of Jaipur city from the top is awesome. There are two restaurants inside the fort which serve decent food. Avoid visiting the place in night hours as it's not allowed.

Well maintained fort, not too high to climb. View from top is beautiful. Do not eat at fort. Prices are high and they don't know how to cook.

Great fort! If you visit Rajasthan you must see this. Also the wall here is great. Can't imagine how workers of old time built this gigantic place on hills without technology!

Could have been maintained and preserved better. The outer wall is huge and looks grand. Inside needs better maintenance and upkeep. Some place stinks urine.

The biggest wall after the great Wall of China. Many temples to visit, a view to die for. A great architectural mega structure. An amazing experience to watch and relive the history.

Really very good place. The fort is enormous in size and beauty. The view from top is literally awesome (but you need to do some work to reach on top). The temple here is very good and feels ancient. The light show in the evening is great.

Its a historical Fort worth visiting. Instead of going through the regular way, we climbed the stairs situated along the inner side of wall. It was adventurous. The view from top is great. Nothing much to see inside the palace.
