We had a wonderful 2 night stay here. We had to check in very late at night and they set aside a key for us at the lobby desk which was very accomodating. The room had a gorgeous mountain view and the hotel is out in the middle of nowhere so there was no city lights or traffic noise to distract on the beauty around you. The breakfast was very tasty and the tiny museum/exhibit was a nice little added bonus. It was also nice that they had a mini fridge in our area of the hotel where we could store our cold food! Please come stay here, you won't regret it!

Very close to glacier lagoon. Not many vegetarian options in restaurant here, but breakfast was good and soup was great as well. I would recommend trying Vatnajokull beer here. Its a local beer and we could not find it anywhere else in iceland.

The restaurant is really good and the staff very hospitable. The lamb Soup, the Arctic char fish and the grilled lamb were delicious!

Perfect. Really comfortable and beautiful hotel. It's located in a very quiet area and really beautiful scenario. The room is big and clean, the bathroom also big and the breakfast is good and complete. I do recommend this hotel.

The room and bathroom were very spacious! Clean but maybe not as clean as it potentially could’ve been. Understandable though because they were very busy so I’m guessing they have a high turnover rate. Breakfast was included and it had a decent variety, but it was average nothing too special. But we left full and satisfied. All in all I’d probably stay here again. Seemed like one of the best options for the area.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. They have cute horses right outside the rooms and you overlook the water and mountains. Breakfast was included which is amazing when everything in Iceland is so expensive. Dinner was amazing. I had lamb right from their farm.

Staff very welcoming and attentive to the small care for us. Ideal location to see the glaciers. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. I recommend it.

AmZing food. I had the lamp soup and was very nice. The langoustine tails were out of this world. I regret we didn’t order 2 from them. Highly recommend.

The hotel is located just 10 minutes from the famous ice-cold Lagoon "Jnokulsarlon". The room we reserved was very nice and spacious. They definitely made us stay in the newly built part. Breakfast in the standard. Good dinner.
The lobby and the breakfast room-restaurant are located on the night zone. For breakfast you have to do at least 500 Mt. On foot. If it snows or rains you are forced to take the car.

The internet was weak, when the hotel was full and the showers had almost no water pressure. Also had to wait very long for it to get hot. Nice service though although after several days the menu card at the restaurant becomes a bit repetitive.

This place offers everything you need after an exhausting day exploring the glacier. Friendly staff, a great local restaurant and a cozy bed. Perfect stay!

Very good country hotel, very clean and warm place. The shower is super clean. There is unfortunately (and this is the only negative point) no jacuzzi geothermal. Personal friendly and smiling and very good restaurant (we took the famous Icelandic char which was delicious).

Perfect welcome! We booked the apartment in the little Yellow House, 2 children 2 and 5 years old, we stayed for 2 nights. Very close to the Jokularson, breakfast very rich and quality. A family home and it feels! We're good.

Nicely located for the Iceberg lake and the Glacier and ice cave tour. The breakfast was really nice with hot food in the morning. The evening meal was good with salted cod and local produce such as lamb.

A great little hotel and very easy to access from route 1. It is on it! The room was lovely and quiet and the general location was great for the glacial lake and the Northern lights. Breakfast was great… bacon, eggs, beans, sausages as well as the usual continental stuff. We ate here the night before too (NYE) and I chose the best fish dish. Lovely I would stay again if passing. A great hotel on an isolated location.

One of the most beautiful hotels in southeast Iceland. The hotel has a restaurant and a museum. There is also an app for this as an audio guide. There is free Wi-Fi and tea in all rooms. The rooms are nice and modern, include a TV set and a private bathroom.

Quite new, large room and good bed. It Has coffee or courtesy, which is appreciated with the weather that are spent. The Reception building is quite far from the rooms and there is a museum exhibition dedicated to the founder of the settlement and the way of life. Breakfast is good and although for us it is quite expensive, it is not according to the prices of the country.

3 years ago now and still stands out as memorable. Amazing food and little museum at the back. Owners were wonderful when we got stuck in a huge storm. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Quaintly nestled between the mountains and the ocean, the Hali Country Hotel offers guests stunning views in large rooms, with all amenities nearby. A short drive to the glacier lagoon for picturesque landscapes — especially if you go at night and catch the auroras glowing above the lagoon. The restaurant offers a good selection of Char and is inside the museum. Only spent a night, but it was one of our better accomodations for our 10-day roadtrip around the island.

Most memorable stay, could see the Northern Lights from here. Good food and good service. Rooms are great, high end hotel with sea view. Highly recommended.

Great hotel to stay at when visiting the glacier and iceberg lagoon. Amenities are minimal but rooms are spacious and clean. Restaurant and museum building looks like a bookshelf which makes for fun pictures.

Great gem just 15 minutes down the road from Jokulsarlon and Diamond beach. Great place to stay to visit those locations first thing in the morning before the crowds it. The room itself was much better than expected since this is really in the middle of nowhere, but the setup was a lot of fun. It is a working farm; the hotel space is spread throughout the whole "village" on the farm. It is a very quiet location, right on a lagoon and in easy view of the open ocean. At least two different tours stayed there overnight, but the setup seemed like it must have been quiet enough, since both tours were up and gone before we woke up — we didn't hear a thing. Breakfast was fantastic. A lot of choice and far more robust than we expected. After that experience, we had wished we'd arrived sooner to have dinner at the restaurant — I'm sure it would have been a far better experience than what we'd had instead. After breakfast, take some time to go through the museum (just off the breakfast room). It is a very well done exhibit that was far nicer than we expected — the quality of displays, exhibits, and signage could easily have been found in a national historical museum. Be sure to take a little time to walk while there — even if just walking up to the restaurant for the included breakfast. The landscape was different — much more soil and grass — than most of the rest of Iceland we'd seen.

The room was spacious and clean. One of the best room we had during our trip in Iceland. Breakfast was nice and had hot food as well as cold food (unusual in Iceland), which we really appreciated. Moreover the restaurant kitchen closes at 9, which allowed us to have a proper dinner. The only small downside would be that the hot water pressure was scarce to have a proper shower. Overall 5

I stayed here for almost a week in February 2106, and found the hotel to be just right for me: basic, friendly and helpful staff, inexpensive but with everything I needed.

Hali Country hotel was wonderful! Everything was very clean and new! The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The location is great to visit the glaciers and the Iceberg Lagoon (which you must do! ). Would highly recommend staying here!

Beautyful hotel between the see and the mountains! It offers an amazing view and it is just 15 min drive from Jokulsarlon! If you want to sleep in this area I recommend this spot!

Calm, friendly environment at the foot of a mountain amongst horses and fields. There is a good restaurant a Museum and that's the point of give you several excursions on or under the glacier.

Because of the weather conditions we stopped at hotel Hali 66 km before our actual destination Hofn. Luckily they had rooms left. The woman at the reception was very kind and helpful. We had dinner at the restaurant where they served delicious local fish and great lamb soup. The room was clean and located at the end of the street where we had a great possibility to watch the northern light. The included breakfast was delicious with local delicacies. Overall we had a wonderful stay thanks to the helpful staff!

Stayed here for 3 nights in January during a trip around Iceland. Strong Wi-Fi connection, good in house restaurant, easily arranged local tours. Staff are very friendly. Would definitely stay here again if I'm in the area.

Very cozy hotel, with independant buildings for 4-5 rooms with a common area in each.

My father and I stayed in a hotel in the same village on our circumnavigation of Iceland, but we came to Hali Country Hotel for dinner and breakfast the next day. The dinner was fantastic — some of the most flavorful seafood of all time and good icelandic beer (not a phrase I often say). They had a good buffet-style breakfast the next day, and the hotel also houses a museum dedicated to a local who went on to become a famous writer. The museum is definitely worth it, as are the views from the Hotel. I would not return to Iceland without stopping in Hali for a night.

The hotel itself is in the middle of nowhere but this is great because it means the room was very quiet with no traffic and very little noise (apart from the sheep who live outside our apartment). We had to share a bathroom, living room and kitchen with another couple but we didn't mind at all as everything was clean and in great conditions. We were lucky enough to get a room that faces the sea — I remember waking up to that view feeling so relaxed yet energised. Excellent breakfast buffet with a range of food and drinks to choose from. Definitely recommend this place!

This place is wonderful. I recommend this place to anyone except the fie alarm went off at 0330, false alarm. Luckily a family associated with the hotel live in the house next door and a guest went to fetch them. He promptly turned it off. Breakfast was fabulous. Take average of the Winter rates, definitely a plus since Iceland is expensive but well worth it.
