Cheap hostel, bed was comfortable. Pillows were bad and the blanket a little small. Common room and kitchen were very good. They were very helpful booking tours. Rather out if the way in Reykjavik, but not a problem if you don't mind walking. Worth the payment in my opinion.

We checked in late and followed the instructions at the desk. There was no response and my children and I ended up in our room at 3 a. M. The next day when I talked to staff they told me to talk to someone else. I talked to that person and he said to email the manager. I emailed and did not receive a response for 3 days. I responded to that email and have not heard back from him after he promised a resolution. We were in Iceland 3 weeks ago.

The hostel was great. My first hostel but will recommend it. Free breakfast included with the room. Nice staff. Helpful and friendly! The toaster in the kitchen is a little bit too good. Cooked a piece of toast into a smoldering chunk of ash in no time flat. But all in all with jet lag and probably a little bit of anger towards learning a new country and driving style, solid four stars and possibly 5 in the future. Had a funny smell I couldn't locate.

This hostel is located far from downtown but close to a gas station with hot dogs (cheap food), a mall that takes you to town for free, and a museum that will also take you to town. The kitchen is good and has a nice assortment of pots and pans for every need. The internet is really fast and the building is clean and people are friendly. I would recommend staying here.

A chic clean room for four, there are Russian-speaking staff. The only thing that is a significant disadvantage is the hotel is far from the historical center, relatively far from the stops and shops. I had to get a taxi which is very expensive.

Capital-Inn is an excellent place to stay in Reykjavik. The staff is friendly, helpful, and down-to-earth. The morning breakfast that is prepared is traditional Icelandic fare. The place provides a great value and excellent service for an experienced and an inexperienced traveler in Iceland alike. It is also near the bus line and the Kringlan shopping mall. I would recommend booking a room far in advance of your visit.

Excellent service and humane treatment, I found it very economical, excellent cost-benefit!

Very poor experience. My friends and I were treated extremely poorly by the manager. We ran into a situation where 17 people were somehow booked for a 16-person room. There was a mix-up with beds and the staff was very aggressive towards us, despite the fact that we got there and there were only 6 beds for the 7 of us. We felt that most places we've stayed on our trip so far had made an effort to take care of guests rather than talk to them in an accusatory tone. The facilities were adequate, although only two men's toilets and showers for several 10-16 person rooms was not ideal.

We took a double room with shared bathroom, we are happy with the experience. The kitchen is ample enough, the bathroom is clean and shared for 3 rooms only.

Neither. Maybe for 11 euros this is a good hostel as for Reykjavik, but no sense of satisfaction. Everything is so simple. The beds are squeaky.

Cold welcoming, the apartment doesn't look like the pictures on the website. It is way older and not comfy at all. Nevertheless the matresses are good. No soap and shampoo in the rusty shower. Really noisy due to the really close highway and foam walls between rooms It is cheap but is it worth it? The breakfast looked poor and of low quality. Moreover not close to the center, a car is a necessity Good to sleep and go, not more…

Very clean, spacious room, comfortable littrie, breakfast at will and with choice. The only downside for the shared bathroom to share is not to be rushed! I recommend for one night in Reykjavik for tight budgets!

The Capitan Inn is certainly not the most luxurious guest house in Reykjavik, but it offers great value for money and very friendly staff. Those who do not mind sharing the room with 15 others can stay here from €10 per night. Although not every bed has its own socket, there is enough of it in the sleep and common areas. The rooms, bathrooms and kitchen are cleaned daily and were always clean during my stay. The noise level is actually a bit high, as it is a hostel, where guests also go out late at night and stay in the common room. Therefore, Oropax or even better noise-canceling headphones are recommended for a quiet blow.

Three months ago I reserved a room in this place for 10 nights, I paid 40 dollars of the deposit to secure my reservation, two days before my arrival they say my card is invalid and they can cancel my reservation (after I paid? If you cancel my reservation all my tours and booking are stated to pick me up at capital inn. Also if you cancelly reservation I will losr the money I already paid. Give a solution to this right now please.

Very busy hostel but nice and clean. Shower rooms and toilets can be a bit better. But good overall.

Reall nice budget hotel out of town. Well priced with free breakfast which means a lot in Iceland! Evening meals are very reasonable.

Worst hotel during our trip through Iceland!
We had booked our last 2 nights here, but due to the following circumstances we left early after one night: Rooms looked like hospital, noise of the four-lane main road could not be reduced despite "closing" the windows. At the same time it moved extremely through the leaky windows (whistles you hear when you go across the hallway).
There was only one bathroom per floor (for 13 rooms). This also still very dirty and stank! This stink smelled all over the hallway.
Breakfast: Small selection, which however is not dramatic at the price, however, the quality left much to be desired.

When we complained, it was returned that we had a bed and a cancellation of the second night is not possible, it is business.
Never again!

If you treat it for what it is, a bed in a room it's not too bad, but the overall experience isn't great. A room underground with no lock, no storage space and a shortage of utensils in the kitchen makes for a worrying day if you hope to leave anything for the day. On a positive note it's not too far from perlan or kringlan.

One of the affordable hostel but not so comfortable to live in. Loads of people and prisons like cells to sleep in. Would recommend to those who travel on budget like me but if you’re a comfort person than this place is not for you!

Attention! Shared! But really a good price! Since we were in February it didn't have biele guests! It was perfect for hitting though it was very narrow beds! But at the price of Iceland top!

I stayed one night here and it was fine. The room was very hot even though we opened the window. We just couldn't find a way to turn down the heat on the radiator (possibly user error). The breakfast wasn't very good so I just ate some yogurt I bought at a store, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try it.

Unfortunately we were not allowed to use the kitchen because "another group is in the house" — whatever that might be called.

Actually it is already long overdue that everyone has an outlet on his bed for himself. The bed was nice and the room was very small. Apropo storage, there is nowhere a shelf here. It should be shower or brushing.

Good location, service and price. The beds are unconfortable and there aren't enough wc.

One night on February 10, 2018. Room very good, very clean as the common bathroom. But very far from the center! The environment is irrelevant, near a fast lane. No car impossible to get out.

First thing to say about the Capital Inn is that in my book it is not a true hotel, more of a hostel with a couple of en suite rooms. That's ok, but the room I booked was described as a deluxe and was anything but. I guess deluxe in Iceland means en suite. Much of the accommodation on the island is geared towards travellers who just need a place to crash so if you need a few creature comforts choose something closer to the city centre. Plus points were that the ho (s) tel was clean and the staff were pleasant. It was cheap but accessible to town. Decent bus service nearby. Downside is that the room I had was riddled with black mould, the bathroom/shower was pretty "bedsit" and the furniture was ancient. No food available on Sunday after breakfast. Wi-Fi was free but iffy. I would say that the accommodation falls into the category "served a purpose" and to be honest it was really busy. If you don't mind roughing it a bit then it's ok. If I return to Iceland I'll probably try and get something in the city.

This place is interesting, I will say the staff is friendly and the breakfast was not bad. I found it fascinating that the hot water was volcanic but that did mean a little sulfur smell, I didn't mind it but I could see some people not being a fan. The room I got was on the third floor and of course there is no elevator so I had to lug large suitcases up the stairs. Then it took me a while to find my room itself as it was hidden behind another door not with all the other rooms on that floor. The room was small but had a loft with the second bed for my friends. Additionally it is a short walk to the Perlan Museum which also has a free shuttle bus into town so while it is a bit away from town it is still easy and free to get there. While at first glance the hotel may look a bit dirty and rundown it was overall a very positive experience.

Everybody’s just amazingly friendly, the rooms are clean and the price is quite cheap! i’d totally recommend this place.

Good value for money Good option to share a room in Reykjavik for less than €25 per person. Very correct and well maintained common facilities.

Good accommodation for how economical it is. It is quite clean, good service and a good opportunity to meet people from other countries for being a typical hostel for backpackers and adventurers. Affordable breakfast in price and quite full buffet type.

Small room with a sink. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the location was excellent. The bad, there is a bathroom with shower for men and one for women in plants 2 and 3, to attend at least 10 rooms per floor; Unfortunately there are people who think they are at home and take eternity so sometimes they line up to use the bathroom. Very good breakfast. In the basement there is a full kitchen, very practical to be able to prepare what you will consume during the excursions or to eat there (eating in restaurants is very expensive in Iceland).

We stayed at Capital inn for a short winter break. The whole place was warm & clean. We had b&b, breakfast was good with a wide, unlimited choice. There was also a communal guest kitchen which we used for preparing other meals. This was clean with an ample supply of utensils, plates, mugs, cutlery etc. Iceland is very expensive, but we considered the price we paid for our stay to be good value.

Capital inn is situated in the center of the city. It is easy to locate and reach with public transport, which is well planned and available in Reykjavik. The cheat and restaurant attendant Asaad is very good, friendly and jolly (say welcoming and hospitable). You only need to change your routine break fast. Thank u.

Spent night in shared dormitory, price is very good compared to other hotels, it could use more plugs in the bedrooms, but there are plenty in the kitchen/living room. Also there is only 2 bathrooms for whole shared dormitory, (3 stalls for women) which in the morning can get pretty busy. Far from center, there is one bus (n. °18) situated like 5 minutes from hotel, which takes you to the center. It says on their page that they rent bikes for their guests, but they DO NOT rent bikes at all! Receptionist were nice and kind. Overall pretty good for the price.

A place for travellers mostly. Has private rooms as well as dorms/shared mixed rooms. Breakfast at extra cost. Also has a common kitchen, in case one wants to cook on their own. Only two bathrooms and toilets for the entire shared occupants area, which could get busy easily. Not the best place, but is budget friendly in Iceland.

Have just got home from a fab week stay here. Room good size, very clean. Regular clean towels and friendly chamber staff. Late arrival check in very easy. All reception staff cheerful and helpful. 5min walk to bus stop into city centre. Bus tickets on sale at reception. Chef did yummy meals, we requested a side salad and he invited us to his vegetable garden to chose what we would like. Great selection at buffet breakfast. Plenty of hot water to shower. Lots of leaflets on things to do and all bookable from reception. No complaints here.

We had an apartment for 3 people. It was very clean and comfortable. The location was great as we were able to get onto the road and into the city quickly. The staff was friendly and helpful. Even though our room faced the road, it was still very quiet inside the room.

The staff Good location. Only problem: The number one apartment has the window right in front of the reception and at night there are groups (Americans) who have no respect for those who sleep.

Very good place! The staff were very friendly. The 3 people who run the front counter are patient and forthcoming. The cleaning staff are punctual and fast. The rooms were great. The only issue was the roommates. Usually the same issues you'd have with any roommate (leaves toothbrush on counter or would keep the bathroom door closed after a really hot shower). The room my SO and I stayed in was 3 bedrooms, a shared kitchen and bathroom. All in all a great place… IF YOU HAVE A RENTAL CAR TOO as it's a long 45 to and hour walk to the main core of the Capital.

Wonderful hotel, an attention of 10 in our language. They have kitchen for those who travel as "backpackers", the facilities are perfect and the breakfast splendid for the price you pay. It is about 40 minutes walk from the center but the bus does not take half. A fantastic stay thanks to the freedom to let us cook our own dinner, personalized attention (we printed the boarding passes and everything) and a laudable general care and cleanliness.

For a low budget holiday very good but unfortunately partly very dirty especially the bathroom there was also for an entire floor only two intact ladies showers which led to very long waiting times. The staff were very nice and helpful. The kitchen is nice sized with enough closet space for everyone and there is a nice sofa corner. The distance to the center is only unfortunately very far about 40 minutes walk but there is a large shopping centre nearby which you can reach in 10 minutes on foot.

Rooms are decent but the staff are rude and unhelpful and ask rude questions when you ask them for help. If the staff changes their attitudes this would be a decent place to stay. They also watch you like a hawk at the buffet breakfast to make sure you don't take anything away with you. Very untrusting.

It is a nice Inn. I like the public kitchen, there is good tools for us to make meals. Also, the public toilet is tidy and comfortable for us to take shower.

The rates were reasonable and the kitchen and common area were fairly spacious and seemed well-stocked. However, the rooms and bathrooms didn't seem or smell very clean and were cramped and uncomfortable. Also, a key/card wasn't required to get into our room, which would have made us feel more secure. Of course, for the price, I would recommend staying here if you just need somewhere to pass the night.

Staff were super friendly and helpful! The owner/manager kept breakfast open for us when we made it too late, so that was really nice. The 16-bunk room in the basement is AWFULLY WARM and miserable so unless you are used to hostels I would suggest a room with less people. The bus stop was 10-15 minute walk away, the beach was 20-25 minute walk away… We did end up bussing because this hostel was out of the way but it didn't bug is too much, and they do sell his tickets at the hostel. Good value for money.

We stayed in very nice and clean room in 3 bedroom apartment with shared bathroom and kitchen. Really enjoyed buffet breakfast with selection of bread, butter, cheese, ham, eggs, fish, pate, porridge, jogurt and cereals. Highly recommended!

This place was not very nice at all. There was blood on the sheets, dirty bathrooms with no doors, and the kitchen in the basement was downright disgusting. The manager, Hassan, was aggressive and rude to our group. I would not come back here unless I wanted to be degraded by an angry hostel manager.

Friendly atmosphere in the basement dormitory area, too. Excellent possibilty of information exchange between people from around the world.

I stayed here my last night in Iceland. It's just a 5-10 minute drive into the city, and it's close to the highway, which is both good and bad. There is breakfast included, which offers cereals, bread, orange drink, and other basics of a European continental breakfast.

The bed and bathroom is fairly clean. You won't expect any service when you pay such a low price. I would say I'll pay more and get a better one next time.

Rooms are fine, showers are ok but the morning person that "greated" us was not pleasant at all. Other staff were friendly.

Great food, great staff, its clean and nice and cheep all you want for a good holiday would stay again! recamend.

Wonderful people, Wonderful food. As an american I could not completly get used to the W. C, and the fact that they use old fasioned keys instead of electrionc locks, but otherwise I was completly happy with this palce and would certainly visit again. The front desk will not only help you with what you need but can provide execllent recommendations for what you might enjoy.
