Do not stay here. Me and my mother arrived at the apartment yesterday and were very unhappy with it, so much so that we have left and gone to a different hotel instead. The lady meeting us to let us in asked for 30 minutes notice as this is how long it would take her to get to the accommodation… we gave her 3 hours notice of what time we would be there for, only for us to arrive and be told she was running 20 minutes late… around 35 minutes later she arrived, meaning that… we stood outside in the cold for over 40 minutes. This feeling of a lack of coordination continued when we got into the apartment and she could not locate any of the pack details e. G. Wi-Fi codes which she ended up having to text across to us. Furthermore, we needed to fill in some tourist forms and she did not have a pen for either of us to complete the forms, so she was going to drop us a pen outside the apartment today to get them completed! The apartment is advertised as being on the top floor with lots of steps which wasn’t a problem. However, my mother is very scared of heights, so imagine her horror when to get to the apartment we had to cross an open air walkway with a sheer drop back to the ground to one side of us. This wasn’t advertised at all — if it had been, we would have chosen a different room. We had a 2 bedroom apartment on the top floor. The accommodation is basic, which you would expect for the price, but we didn’t expect the following:
— only 1 set of bedding when it’s advertised as being 2 bedroom. This meant that if we had chosen to stay, one of us would be sleeping with a duvet without any sheets, very unhygienic.
— footprints in the living room.
— stains all over the sofa.
— dirty shower curtain.
— hair all over the bathroom.
— flies in the light fittings.
— bad smell throughout the apartment. I fell asleep on the sofa for a few hours whilst mum had a nap in one of the bedrooms with bed sheets, and once we were up and about again we were both itching all over for hours after which was not pleasant. The apartment is in a building which can only be accessed by other residents through a passcode system. However, the apartment is not lockable which did not make us feel safe, so if you like to lock the doors at night this isn’t going to be the place for you. Furthermore, the location isn’t the greatest. We had a lovely view of the parliament building, but the area the apartment is in is not tourist friendly. The train stop is a 15 minute walk which you will need to use to get to the other side of the river where most of the “tourist attractions” are. The location photos are also misleading… the apartment is opposite a building site, not a cobblestone stone street with prettily coloured building, which is what is shown on the cover photo for this Facebook page. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience and I would strongly suggest that if you are travelling to Budapest finding anywhere else to stay other than here!
