Review of Hotel Rum Budapest 4*

Quirky, modern, comfortable, beautiful. Probably the nicest hotel for the price that I've stayed in while traveling through Europe. Beautiful Rooms. Very clean and well designed. Comfortable bed with duvets, coffee and tea in room, small minibar. Nice touches like excellent light by bed for reading, small throw rugs by bedside, a safe in the room, plenty of cabinets and hangars to unpack. The hotel offers free iron and ironing board if you ask. The bathroom was separated from the sleeping area by large enclosed smoked glass doors. You can't see through the glass, and there is a sliding door for privacy. Not a conventional enclosed bathroom, but it was fun, and different. Provided my partner and I enough privacy when needed. Bathroom had great water pressure and plenty of hot water, a warming rack for towels (and hand washed laundry), hair dryer, soft towels, ample storage. There is a small bit of air conditioning, works weakly. Sometime room got a bit hot at night, but I just opened windows. I was there in March, so weather was not too warm. Wi-Fi on the first floor worked great. Needed the Wi-Fi for work, so I was happy to be on lower floor. Other reviews mentioned spotty Wi-Fi on 6th floor. Did not have that problem. I had no view from my room, but I wanted good Wi-Fi. Was okay with sacrificing view. Breakfast is served in the hotel, great selection. I always arrived right as they opened, so I don't know what restaurant was like when full of diners. Breakfast staff was very attentive, the buffet was filled with scrambled eggs, meatballs, poached eggs, beans, small sausage, breads, jams, yogurt in small pots, delicious granola. The staff will make you a fresh coffee, latte, etc. On request. You can fill up quite happily. The kitchen did not fill special requests orders when I was there. Close to public transportation, restaurants, markets, parks. I'm still traveling, and I miss the gentle quirkiness and comfort of this hotel.
