Almost comical. Is probably the best way of describing this place. It almost couldn't be worse, more by the fact that clearly zero effort has be put into the accommodation than anything thing else. One bed has a very very thing mattress, the other might as well not. The poor people who have to stay in this place throughout their term time have it rough. Extrusiating heat which couldn't be resolved as opening any form of window would cause bugs of all-sorts to have a better night that you. Bed bugs? Sorted mate. Mosquitoes? All over the shop. The bathroom was beyond a joke and the condition of the hostel itself was shocking. But I suppose it's cheap, and the location isn't awful.

The main advantage of the hotel is its location. Downtown. To the stop of tram number 2, which runs along the Danube, 150 m. To the street. The vasci is 100 meters. The Central Market is 700 m. Metro is also nearby.

We had a a great experience staying at City Matyas. Fantastic view of the Danube. Accommodation was basic but good friendly staff staff at front desk. Only qualm was no coffee facility in room. And airconditioning didn't work well. Overall the view was fantastic, very central to everything.

Very good location of the hotel. Good-natured employees. Food at level 4.

Overall 4 star because we changed rooms before our AC issue was resolved. AC was not working in our first room And when we complaint, host was little hesitant to change the room. Rooms are fine and hotel looks like a vintage hotel. Breakfast was average and not for me as I am a vegetarian. Better to look for a better place for a peaceful stay.

Nice place, good breakfast, and friendly staff. Location is perfectly situated and next to the river, easy to find after a night out in a strange city! Only odd things were the dodgy massage place on site, and the 40 minutes it took the reception team to book us a taxi…

Old building, very atmospheric. The beds are comfortable, there is air conditioning, fridge nuits safe. The location is great. Staff knows Russian.

The room is quite spacious, but is furnished very poorly: no closet, glasses, brushes, etc. The repair leaves much to be desired. The restaurant is very good. Breakfast is Bednovat, but it is generally OK. Good location.

We came today February 10, we come 6 friends to spend four days, we all paid the same for two triple rooms, well three of my friends have been a room fairly well, while my and my two remaining Amogas has touched us a habit ation to which is accessed by a 5-storey corral, with two single beds and a chair that looks more like an old baby cot before, which they consider to be another bed, for our back not we'd know if catalog it as such, to see we thought that D E a mistake but it has not been so, say it is a third bed, I hope tomorrow not have low back pain. As far as the location is not bad, but with this bad experience I can not rate much more.

Simple city hotel in old walls. Wide paths for breakfast across cold and open corridors. Helpful, but short-connected staff. Relatively noisy.

I stayed here in the autumn with my girlfriend for a romantic Budapest city break. First impressions of the outside of the building and the foyer / reception was good but not spectacular. The hotel looks a little dated but the public areas was very clean. The reception staff were very good and pleasant. Some were multilingual and all that I met spoke very good English. Some reception staff spoke German as well as French but I think French was probably the weaker of the languages they spoke from my observation. The Hotel operates from a historic building full of charm and quirks which I loved but I feel that the amount of steps will be difficult for those with mobility for issues. I would not characterize this as suitable for people in wheelchairs. The room I had was big for the price and very clean. Basic furniture but it was all in good condition and clean. One of the best showers i've had in a hotel it was very hot and powerfull. The bed was firm just how I like it and low almost like a futon. Because it was autumn time in October we had the heating on and it was great. Rooms were warm with radiators to hang our damp clothes after being caught in the rain a few times. A lot of rooms face a court yard area like our one did so not an amazing view. Some rooms may have a view of the Elizabeth Bridge which is literally 50 Meter away. The location is very good close to the Danube river and Elizabeth Bridge. A number of tram stations and metro lines nearby.

It was a very good Hotel. Close to the centre and the Rudas baths. Free Wi-Fi and reception H24

Very convenient location-near the bridge. Near the street. Vaci. In a beautiful old building. Nice view from the window. The rooms are not very spacious. The furniture is simple but comfortable. Cleaned every day. The staff is polite and friendly.

It is good to get to sleep and bathe, this very neglected the building but the rooms are in good condition the employees are unhelpful but they are not rude, the only thing that made me strange is that they share the building with a local erotic massage, from there on out is quite advisable to get to know Budapest.

Location, location, location… It's located right next to Vaci st. And the bridge, but unfortunately, this is the only advantage of this hotel. The rooms are tiny, old and not so clean. Receptionists are nice and welcoming. Wouldn't go back again… : (

Great central hotel all rooms are spacious and clean the breakfast not to good, there is a restaurant near by called the salt and pepper lovey staff android well worth a visit.

Close to the city center, nice and welcoming receptionists, clean rooms. Air conditioning was very loud and smelly and there was a loud noise coming from the drier and washing units which we could heard at any hour of night and day. The breakfast is ok but not that great as others said. There were omlette, cheese, some sortiments of ham and salami, tomatoes, hot-dog, bread, jam, tea, coffee and milk with some cereals. Depending on the day there were some fresh fruits.

Last month we stayed at this hotel and I was very disappointed with it. There was a long flight of steps up to reception and as I am elderly and as I was sick at the time (I had pneumonia and have bad arthritis) could not get my suitcase up the stairs. My daughter was also unable to carry our luggage up the concrete stairs so she went and asked for help. When she politely asked at reception if there was anyone available to help with the luggage the man at reception stormed off in a huff. She was left standing there with no idea what was happening. He came down to me at the suitcases and was clearly cross. He did, however, carry the bags for us. When we put our bags in the locked luggage room the same man told me that I should consider myself very lucky to have him help me with the luggage. He was so rude and his anger was evident. The hotel itself was drab inside and in need of refurbishment. The upholstery was all in bad condition and ripped. Our room was nice and large but the bathroom and especially the shower was very cramped. Also if you have a problem with heights it is very scary as there is a severe drop to the courtyard from the balconies that wind around outside the rooms. Do not stay in this hotel. The only reason this deserves one star is for the convenient location.

Coming from Vienna by the Danube in hydrofoil, this hotel is located in the immediate vicinity of the port. Good services right next to the center and the Gellert Baths.

This is a very central hotel right in the heart of the old town. Be aware that there are 79 stairs to the reception desk and no lift. Not for the frail. Room was good sized no air con or fridge which was a shame. Staff were very friendly and helpful Room was quiet even with the busy streets near by. The location forgives the tiredness of the decor.

Great location 3 mins to city center and room was really warm, Wi-Fi can be trouble sometimes but it is okey more, staff is also very friendly.

Great location, lovely breakfast, friendly staff, cheap price. But the corridors were a bit smoky and smelled a bit bad. The rooms are not very elegant either, but you can't expect more for such a cheap price. I especially recommend it for shorter stays, when you really want to be near to everything and don't spend lot of time in the rooms.
