Ippokampos

Staying at the family operated Ippokampos Hotel is like something out of a movie — we loved it so much that after spending 6 nights we threw our plans out the window and stayed an additional 5 nights ♥️.
Ippokampos isn't glamorous, but it's very comfortable, wonderfully quirky and its location is exceptional.
We appreciated the breakfasts in the gorgeous shared courtyard that can be used at any time, day or night, noting that the courtyard is the only access to get to all rooms. So, if safety is an issue (which isn't in Hydra) the courtyard is locked after 10.00pm which you'll have a key to access after this time.
Tip — grab a room with balcony access.

Great place and helpful staff. Only downside was the tiny shower and having to remember to turn on hot water.

Lovely hotel with a warm reception. The hotel is clean and traditional in appearance. We enjoyed our stay and appreciated the great hospitality from our host. He gave great recommendations, even sent us out to tour the island with extra cake in our pockets! Would definitely stay here again.

Ippokampos is a jewel of a small family-owned hotel, not far from the harbor. The enclosed courtyard is a haven from the hectic nature (and heat! ) of the port. The rooms are clean, the water hot, quiet at night, comfortable bed/pillow, with all staff friendly and welcoming. A home cooked breakfast buffet is included and wonderfully served Kostandinos and Yannis. Nota was also very helpful. This was our second stay and we will stay again!

Everything perfect! Great location, the breakfast was awesome. Comfortable mattress, a. C. And the bathroom had plenty of space. The staff was very helpful and kind and all in all is a value for money hotel!

This was the perfect hotel and location for my stay in Hydra. I have been coming here for many years and was pleasantly surprised to find this hotel. Very friendly staff, lovely breakfast, clean and comfortable room.

I felt a very friendly welcoming when I arrived. The lights in the hallway, well there weren’t any, so I used my flashlight to navigate in dark. When I entered the room, though it was clean, it smelled a bit musty. The shower was luke warm at best, mostly cold. The towels were hard and stiff. The mattress was a bit uncomfortable. I woke up and had what appeared to be a (bed) bug bite. I noticed the breakfast didn’t seem to get replenished, so after the tour group that was staying there also ate, there wasn’t much left. The staff was friendly and the location convenient. I wouldn’t stay here again, though with some improvements this place could up its review points!

A darling hotel off the beaten path. Giannis at the front desk provided exemplary service, including a glass of cool water and a little treat at check-in. The beds and pillows were very comfy. It felt like we were staying in a guest room of someone's home instead of a hotel, which we enjoyed. The courtyard is shady and lovely, with comfy furniture. This is where breakfast is served and you can get a cocktail at night while beautiful music is playing softly in the background. The bathroom in our room was teeny tiny but the water pressure was good in the shower. My sister and I enjoyed our stay here.

Small family run hotel, great location, rooms are small and basic but very clean. Nice accommodating staff. Good AC. Suggest you request a room with a balcony. Breakfast is just OK but commensurate with the nightly rates. We would definitely return.

Amazing and cozy place to stay! Employees were friendly and calm people, the room was super clean and the brrakfast was fresh and homemade! We really enjoyed it❤️

The cutest little place in Hydra. The staff were so friendly and the breakfast was yummy! Such a quaint room with Greek charm. And you could not beat the location.

We have just left after a fantastic week in Hydra. The island is beautiful and plenty to keep our two young children busy. We loved exploring the streets, eating/drinking in the many bars and restaurants and watching the world go by at the harbour. The beaches are lovely and we enjoyed walking to the beach in the morning and getting the water taxi back after a full day. Our stay at the Ippokampus hotel was absolutely perfect.
The hotel is clean and comfortable and in a perfect location on the island. The kids loved trying the different cakes and baked goods at breakfast each morning and the courtyard is the most beautiful setting to eat and start your day.
The staff are incredibly frequently, helpful and were fantastic with the kids. They couldn’t have done more for us and were incredibly kind and helpful when our little boy got a bad allergic reaction in his eyes and needed to go to the hospital. They walked us there, stayed while he got treatment and then bought our little ones some toys to cheer them up.
We were very sad to leave and will definitely be back in the future.
