At first sight it resembles Paradise. An excellent place to forget current duties, a wonderful place away from everyday life where you can really relax.

Very nice hotel and amenities, pool and SPA. These all make a very good first impression. Spacious, nicely designed throughout all the areas, including the rooms. Impressive infinity pool. Great food, with lots of local ingredients. Excellent Greek coffee. They also offer a choice of two different restaurants for the breakfast, and dinner, if you have Half Board, plus there are two other restaurants for a la carte dinner. Short walk to the Blue flag beach which offers free sunbeds and umbrellas. Very nice property indeed!
Needs improvement.
For some reason, the housekeeping staff did not consider necessary (or they simply kept forgetting) to refresh the toiletries in our bathroom. There were four of us and we survived ok the first couple of days. On day 3 we called the reception (twice, because the first call did not produce any results) to ask for soap, shower gel and shampoo. Instead we got shower gel, shampoo and conditioner (this is how we found out they also had conditioner! And still had to survive without soap). Day 4 was even tougher – still no soap and we felt like we needed to develop some clever strategy to get basic soap in the room which is ridiculous considering the room rates start at Eur 230/night. It was disappointing and felt awful. From day one we noticed the drainage system in the shower had a problem – water would not evacuate properly, but would rather come out through the floor drain and flood the whole bathroom.

A very clean, very friendly Hotel. All try the you feel comfortable. The food is very tasty and the Breakfast, lunch, and dinner (always Buffet) very rich, you will not find here anything that suits you. We have now found our Hotel and our country. Next year definitely come again.

The hoteliers human relations are very cordial. I met the following security men who were nice and friendly, smart and busy all the time providing security for the hotel. They are Manolis1, Manolis 2, Segian and Nektarcol.
I really recommend this hotel for any one who wants to go to holiday in Crete. The place is neat nice and the buffet is extremely best. The atmosphere there is fantastic.

Very professional and friendly staff. Perfect place for holidays, especially if you have children but wish to unwind a bit. Perfect rooms (some with dedicated pool), large, neat, clean and comfortable.

The hotel is very nice with good space and landscaping … its good to be near sea.

Enjoyable full board family vacation with friends. In no particular order:+ kids loved the kids club which was free for our kids+ food varied and excellent. Lovely deserts+ 5 main pools all well maintained (lots of space and great for kids) + large spa with all expected amenities+ hotel mini mart: very reasonable with good selection cheaper than the local marts (and you can bill your room which is useful) + Wi-Fi is free and v. Good throughout hotel — only real negative is that you pay for ALL drinks including bottled water! — no evening entertainment to speak of. Which means nothing for kids.

Great hotel amenities, very relaxing environment and ambience; although busy, it’s spacious and this safeguards some privacy. Cretan food at the Xatheri restaurant is super good and tasty with fresh local ingredients? and even tastes better than my mom’s (sorry mom and hope you don’t see this). Very friendly staff and good service. The spa amenities are also great.

Great facility (cleaning, personel, design, food)! Five different restaurants (all not open at the same time). Great buffet restaurant (real food, not fried to death) for those of you who choose all inclusive. Sauna, gym, spa pool was included in our package. Treatments at reasonable prices. Beach close by, salt water pool and three freshwater pools. Definitely a five star hotel.

Nice and nice pools. Room taken with shared pool which gives directly in the water. Nice service without any more. Room in slight shrinkage compared to other hotels because older.

Located in a relatively remote location, but can park for free, the interior of the hotel is very large, and facilities are new, eat is also good, many guests are from northern Europe, there are children's clubs.

Awesome place, I'm not a fan of organized trips as I like boutique hotels but this one is in the same time big enough to give the feeling that you don't sit in the crowed but cosy in the same time as buildings are not tall. Amazing swimming pools, rooms with privete swimming pool super and food it's really amazing with quality and health ingredients. And if you are enough flexible that you can decide to travel and pack in less than one day you can have great last minute offer that's what we did I and we are super happy now spending time here :)

Avra is truly 5 star. Much better than I expected. Pictures I saw on Trip Advisor does not really show the beauty of this place. Great service, really friendly staff. Great environment, family friendly. The Cretan breakfast buffet is fantastic.

Hotel as far as ok. For the fact that the overnight stay is not exactly cheap, the food is rather lower average. Very little choice, and not always good. Attention! Despite half board, there are no drinks that are included in the evening. Exactly for this reason of me only 2 stars.

Top 5 star hotel. Beautiful rooms and fantastic pools. The spa area is superb.

Facilities were amazing, food very tasty and spa enjoyable. Staff were very polite. Underground parking available. However, A/C was not really working (not a problem in April, but cannot imagine staying in Crete in July or August with no air con). Also, the website stated that kids are allowed in the heated indoor pool every day during the colder months (which I presume is April), but it turned out that whether they can use it or not is decided on the day to day basis. Considering that the indoor pool was literally empty and outdoor pool definitely too cold for the little ones it's hard to understand why children weren't allowed inside for 2 hrs every day. Room service was excellent, leaving your room spotless!

It was a very good hotel, clean, nice and the hotel staff’s are very friendly and accomodating to all the guests; you can easily approach them to ask for any inquiries. The only downside is the aircondition is not functioning; we stayed for 1 week from april 19-26 and it was already like 26C-30C in the noon time and 18C-20C at night and the warmer was set to 20C so it was not comfortable to sleep at night, and they said they can’t turn the A/C on yet, We slept with open veranda door so it was a little bit noisy because we can hear the noise from the outside. Another problem is the TV channel, it is very limited to BBC news so if you want to unwind and just lay down and watch TV you will not enjoy it. We also have problem with the speed of the internet it was a little bit slow. The food was OK can’t complain and we can say we are satisfied. And our over all stay was OK, we enjoyed the pool and the sun and it was a very relaxing holiday.

Nice exclusive hotel, staff are friendly, spacious room, large pool area. Limited food choices but it was great. Very nice place to relax. Plus 1st day we opted to change room from forest view to pool view, it has extra charge for it but we’re lucky it was waived when we change. Thanks to the staff! We will definitely be back!

While I can’t rate the food, as we are here on a special Passover program from Israel, everything about this hotel complex is spectacular. The setting is stunning, the grounds are well kept, the spa is fabulous, the rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff is most helpful, and we are loving every moment. We opted for a room with a private pool, which overlooks one of the large public pools. While only the spa’s indoor pool is heated, I brought along a wetsuit and am enjoying my pool immensely. I highly recommend this hotel and plan to come back.

One of the best hotels I ever been to, big rooms, a lot of pools, exceptional breakfast and lunch variety. Professional staff, helpful and polite. HIGH pricerange and no sand beach only two negative things. Good for kids, kids entertainment, can highly recomend it if you are not a city lover, this is laying a bit far from Chania.

If you want to have the holidays of your life then thats the place! Astonishing rooms and facilities! A truly five star hotel! Don’t forget to visit the amazing spa and the two wonderful restaurants inside the hotel!

Pros: quite good breakfast buffet, rooms are big, service is good, location is very good (inside a nice town). Cons: — It's cheaper and tastier to eat lunches & dinners in the outside restaurants. — Gym is a joke. There are two barbells, but the kettlebells and dumbbells are very small. The rower is uncalibrated. No decent pull-up bar. — Very few activities for kids & adults.

Luxury and more luxury. Stayed here for a week and cant find any flaw. Very helpful staff, clean spacious rooms, awesome pool side, great private beach and food. And oh what great food. One week and still have my plate full in buffet. Surely it is 5 star resort and much expensive than any hotel around in the area but you cannot complain. Location is quite far from Chania city center but there is a bus service every half hour. There are supermarkets, pharmacy, travel agencies, cafes, taverns etc in walking distance.

We've stayed here twice now and it is a great hotel. On the second occasion we were situated opposite a construction site (nothing to do with the hotel) which was a shame. I'd recommend finding out which part of the hotel you will be in as if you're near the kitchens there is some noise from bins being emptied late and the bin collection just after 5am on Sunday.

The Avra is a great 5* hotel and in a good location to visit a few places in western Crete. It's a very big hotel sprawled out over two sides of the road and there's plenty of restaurant options, a large central pool and an area of (pebble) beach with sun beds. The rooms are modern and well equipped and many have shared or private pools. There's often some musical entertainment in the evening, but they do require a dress code for dinner or drinks which I find a bit annoying. The food is priced on the high side so you can easily walk outside the hotel into town to go to more traditional restaurants The staff are all friendly, the breakfast buffet has loads of options including a kids buffet and you can find food or drink pretty close by anywhere in the hotel. We had no problems staying here, with the exception that when we checked in our room choice wasn't available so they upgraded us to a bigger room, which was great, except it didn't have the outdoor space I'd hoped for and they weren't able to sort it out. Overall a small thing in an otherwise excellent hotel / resort.

I loved everything! Service and facilities! Me and my boyfriend enjoyed a lot one day in the spa and after taking cocktails in the pool! I recommend it!

5 star hotel that keeps the expected standard with a great and serviceminded staff. Excellent food, swimming pools, private pools, training facilities and much more. Only positive experiences therefore I'll recommend it to everyone.

Beautiful place with everything you will need on your holiday. Best for people who just want to relax and people with kids. You can keep in shape with the arranged running trips in the mornings and also use the gym. There are rooms with private pools for those who want privacy and also bigger pools if you like to swim or play in the water. There's a spa for total relaxation.

Since the hotel opened in 2012, we have visited every year for at least a week. The complex is modern, large and beautifully furnished. The rooms are deluxe. The food as well as the service in the restaurant TOP! Reception is open 24 hours a day, people are very nice and helpful! Highly recommended.

The facilities are good, a nice swimming pool Aquarium to take pictures. Not me to liked that the room was not cleaned the bed made but not passed nor vacuum nor withdrew the remains of shell them welcome fruit. The restaurant was very noisy had bastantantes families with children but also had public of couples had no professionalism, given that have space, separate, or lay people for all to enjoy your holiday. The facilities common are clean by that I was surprised it of the cleaning of the room.

Extremely varied and high-quality cuisine. Not to be confused with 1 5 star table-service restaurant. Here is a buffet of very high quality, a choice on a daily basis varied, fresh and accessible to everyone.
Fabulous pools, freshwater and salt. Note 1 pool of 75 m long.
Correct and accessible prices.
In August a predominantly Scandinavian population (discrete forts), some Russians and french. Instead Israeli customers in September.
The village in the middle of which lies the hotel is nice and has not sunk into the logic of the resorts. (All amenities: banks, restaurants, shops,. )
The beach is 200 m.
In short you will understand, no false notes, except maybe a frustration for a total absence of Greek animations, and a noted architectural style neo-minoen (for our taste).
The animation of the day is light but sufficient (evening means little, but good is — this indispensable).
