No way is this a 5 star. There appeared to be a large selection of food, although a lot of the meat was quite hard to identify. As I am not particularly fussy, I always managed to find something, but I could see from the many untouched plates around the other tables that not everyone was managing to find something. The drinks at the pool bar were strange to say the least, with all of them having a slightly salty after taste, which surely comes from being watered down, as all the water in the room (while cleaning teeth! ) and pool had a salty aftertaste. (I was not drinking the pool water! Initially I thought the room was good. We had booked a "superior family room". And then we were shown some other guests room, which they had booked as a standard room. Their room was bigger, more modern and generally superior! The smaller pool is very poorly maintained. There was an ever increasing pile of sand accumulating at the bottom, and there appeared to be no testing of the chlorine levels, after 4 days my daughter could no longer go in it as her skin reacted very badly to it, as did one of her friends she made. The sun loungers are quite scarce and many appear to be continually draped with towels some for days at a time. The staff appear to be extremely demoralised, with their attitudes to guests ranging from surly to the bare minimum of interest, although a few of the reception staff maybe reached the level of almost helpful. Again this was compared to the service we received at the Anfield Bar which was superb, the 3 nearest supermarkets, especially the larger one where the staff went out of their way to be helpful and chatty, and the excellent island restaurant, where again the waiters made you feel very welcome. This was only my experience, and it did appear that some guests return year after year, but unfortunately I will not be.
