We have been vacationing with my husband in Poseidon since 29.08.2018 to 05.09.2018. The hotel itself is a 20-minute drive from Iraklion on the edge of the village of Amudara. Despite the fact that we arrived at the hotel at 04 in the morning, were taken as relatives (the staff are very friendly and not intrusive) and moved straight into a nice room overlooking the pool (noise during the stay did not bother). The hotel after the renovation is clean, everything is working properly, the pool is great clean every day. Furniture in the room 90 — x, but in decent condition. There is a flat TV, air conditioning, safe, hairdryer, refrigerator, comfortable mattresses and pillows (clean as new), a comfortable balcony. Cleaning the room was every day, at the same time, for 7 days once completely changed the underwear (clean, without stains and holes). Breakfast is good, varied: fruits, cereals, cookies, vegetables, cheeses, sausages, dried fruits, eggs, bread, sausages. Loved that there was natural orange juice, but the jam and butter were not very. Coffee was drunk in the room, as breakfast coffee was offered weak and not tasty. The audience is mostly Germans and Greeks, very decent, not violent, courteous.
You can go to the beach by crossing the street from the hotel, but the path is not too beautiful, through the territory of another hotel and the sea is cold because of the flowing mountain river (it is very cold and shallow — you can go on the ankle). Passing to the center of the village to the restaurant with a large mill, you can go to a good beach. You can take a lounger and umbrella for free if you buy ice cream (2 euros) or fresh (3 euros) in the cafe to which they belong. Very good restaurant Maksim closer to the center of the village on the side of the hotel. Everything is super tasty, you can safely take a portion one for two, after you ask for a bill (30 euros for two with drinks) you will bring free another dish with fruit, cottage cheese with honey and 200 ml. Raki! Behind the centre of the village on the side of the hotel there is a tavern with cages on the street with birds, a rabbit and a dog. This is a family business of a very funny Greek family, very colorful and fun (30 euros for two with drinks and a bunch of compliments and gifts). A little further there is a Tavern Mosises with a Russian-speaking waitress (co-owner) Tona. I recommend ordering a national plate for two to try everything at once and home to buy 1 litre of raki for 8 euros (it is very good there).
Excursion from tour operator Coral Mirabella for 40 euros per person. Didn't like it at all. Sami went for a walk in Iraklion on the municipal bus number 1, No. 20 for 2.5 euros (you can buy tickets in any supermarket for 1.7 euros, and the driver for 2.5 euros), loved it, with the price. Museums, taverns, wine and coffee in a Venetian coffee shop in the center cost 45 euros for two! Rest at Poseidon Amudara Hotel Crete can be rated as the highest for the minimum budget.
