Hotel Rennsteig

Yes, the hotel has a sufficient number of free parking spaces. A separate garage parking area is provided for motorcycle owners, which is well-equipped, although some guests find it insufficiently large. The garage also features a small workshop with cleaning supplies for helmets and visors.

Most guests describe the staff as very friendly, attentive, and welcoming, noting the employees' genuine love for their work. However, there are some negative reviews: some guests complained about a certain detachment from the receptionist and a general sense of staff burnout due to understaffing. Specifically, long wait times for orders at the bar and insufficiently prompt table clearing during breakfast were mentioned.

The hotel offers buffet breakfasts and dinners, which many guests describe as varied, high-quality, and very tasty. The cuisine is renowned for traditional Thuringian dishes, such as roulades with dumplings, and is also able to provide vegan options and meals for those with allergies (gluten-free menu). At the same time, some guests criticized the quality of the breakfasts, calling them too simple, and mentioned instances of expired butter.

Opinions on the rooms are divided: some guests find them spacious, clean, and cozy, while others note that the interior is very outdated and in need of renovation. There are complaints regarding worn carpets, small bathrooms, a lack of ventilation in the restrooms, and television screens that are too small. Issues with heating were also mentioned, where rooms were very cold due to the heating being turned off.

Welcome water is provided in some rooms; however, it is chargeable (approximately 2.50 euros for 0.25 L), which has caused dissatisfaction among guests. The availability of a mini-bar is inconsistent: it is present in some rooms, while in others it is absent or empty. It was also mentioned that towels are provided for an additional fee in some cases.

The heating system is unstable; one guest reported that their room was very cold as the heating had been turned off, and the room warmed up very slowly. Additionally, non-functional exhaust fans and ventilators in the bathrooms have been mentioned repeatedly.

The hotel features a sauna with a relaxation area and views of the winter landscapes, which guests rate very highly. There is a fitness center, although it is criticized for its small size, limited equipment, and some broken machines. There is also an inhalation tower (graduation house) on the premises, although it is not always operational.

The hotel offers a wide range of leisure activities: there is a bowling alley, billiards, archery, and table tennis. The "Fliegerbar" in the basement is also open, where guests can spend their evening. Some guests recommend asking about the "singing waitress," who creates a festive atmosphere.

Pets are allowed, and specific rooms in the corridors are designated for them; however, dogs are prohibited in the restaurant. As for children, the hotel is only moderately suitable: guests complained that the advertising did not match reality, noting the absence of a full playroom and playground, as well as a shortage of high chairs during breakfast.
