GRONERS Leipzig City Center

Opinions about the staff are mixed. Many guests describe the team members as very friendly, welcoming, cheerful, and ready to help with any request. However, there are complaints regarding rudeness and incompetence: one guest encountered unjustified suspicion from a staff member named Felix when paying for towels, while another noted a cold reception when trying to resolve a double-booked bed issue. It is also mentioned that staff members can be strict and loud when reprimanding guests in common areas for violating house rules.

Guests report that bed linen and towels incur an additional charge. One visitor noted that this information was not disclosed when booking through a third-party service. A city tax (Kurtaxe) is also mentioned as an extra payment.

The breakfast is rated as mediocre. It consists of frozen croissants baked on-site, along with cheese, ham, and bread. Despite its simplicity, some guests consider it acceptable for the price.

Soundproofing in some rooms leaves much to be desired: guests complain about noise from neighbors, shouting, and moving furniture. In one instance, noise in a neighboring room led to the police being called, which frightened children. Additionally, rooms facing the street can experience city noise when windows are open. Overall, the atmosphere is described as youthful and urban, though it can sometimes be too noisy for sensitive guests.

The furniture and interior are described as modern, stylish, and high-quality. Guests praise the huge and comfortable double beds with light and fluffy duvets. However, in shared dormitory rooms, guests note the lack of privacy curtains on the beds.

Cleanliness feedback is mixed. Some guests find the rooms and bathrooms very clean and modern. Others report finding hair in beds and on mirrors, dirty bathroom floor corners, and drains clogged with hair. There are also complaints that shared bathrooms in female dorms were not cleaned for several consecutive days, despite requests made at the reception desk.

Air conditioning units are installed in some rooms, but according to guest reviews, they do not function, making the rooms very stuffy. During summer periods, rooms can get overly hot. In addition, several guests complained about a strong sewage odor in the bathrooms.

Towels, soap, and toilet paper are often missing from rooms or provided for an additional fee (for example, towel rental costs between €3.50 and €4). Bed linen also requires a separate payment.

The hostel offers excellent shared spaces: a large and well-equipped kitchen, a cozy lounge with books, board games, and foosball, as well as terraces. A mini coffee bar operates at reception, where hot drinks, snacks, and coffee can be purchased.

Some guests do not recommend this property for families. Reasons include high noise levels from other guests, incidents involving police and blood on the stairwells, as well as cigarette smoke from the courtyard entering rooms through open windows.
