We have been eating there a few times, and also in the former first house in Colditz you can see the problem that the gastronomy suffers from in this country: You find hard-working and motivated young staff who like to beat the weekends around the ears and nagging guests served.
The remaining staff in the house make every effort to make up for this shortcoming. It may take some time for the order to be placed and for the food to be on the table. The food itself is good and the prices are still tolerable. The staff is friendly and the small park behind the house is worth a tour.
It is to be hoped that the Waldhaus lives on and finds enough staff again, because the house is also justified as a starting point for hikes in the Colditzer Forest.

Dirty pillows and cold food which actually tastes very good…

A beautiful area. You can eat delicious food. Staff are friendly and very popular because it is also child-friendly.

Were for Christmas dinner and would have to wait 30 minutes until someone picked up the drinks order. The meat was lukewarm and the rest ink. Plates cold. However, it took 5 minutes for all orders to be on the table together … If a person had not got a meal (after another 5 min it was noticeable to a service and after another 5 min it had to eat).
Food, however, has tasted good just stupid that it was cold.

For many years we have been happy to come back to the Waldhaus Colditz with our drawing course, thank you to the staff, who always take great care of us all! Thank you for the, as always, grandiose, very nicely prepared breakfast in the conservatory and the beautiful atmosphere in the house. This time with very interesting exhibition on the "nativity scenes from all over the world" lovingly presented for the Advent season.

The house has a beautiful ambience with a large hall and cosy conservatory as well as a large park, which we were able to use wonderfully with annual drawing course. For dinner we found delicious prepared regional cuisine, from which we were allowed to taste plenty.

Service was not so good, also the food could be better.

We were now once again for a weekend in the Colditz forest House and can not understand now that, years ago, bad reviews. The price-performance ratio is very reasonable, service is friendly and helpful. The rooms are individually and lovingly decorated and the food tasty. A park-like area connects to the beer garden and invites you to go for a walk. We can only recommend the forest House.

The Colditz forest House is located in a small park and equipped with ample parking. Inside, there was a small exhibition on the history of the area and two separate guest rooms. The cosy winter garden offers views to outside on a garden railway.
The menu offers what one would expect from a country Inn, and both the Sauerbraten and the pasta with cream sauce and Turkey filet were excellent. Before even an appetizer, was what is today also doesn't go without saying in German restaurants.
Price performance fit and we were satisfied.

We spent our annual Autumn holidays back in the Colditz forest House. We have booked 3nights with breakfast.
The breakfast was very abundant and you could find even the breakfast time, since it was late for us quite well.
Our room was furnished with love and it was what you needed all available.
In the evening you could eat a la card then cozy in winter garden, the selection was very good, sozuagen something for everyone.
Also a delicious 10Gang menu was offered. The staff was very nice and accommodating.
CONCLUSION: Price performance ratio is super! Liked again.
PS: Also of the venison was class ;-)

We were today on the road with the family (2 adults and 2 children) in the Colditz forest. Following, we wanted to strengthen ourselves with a meal. Unfortunately we have lost in this place. My venison was so tough that he had himself hardly cut. The red cabbage was inedible and the sauce underground. My criticism was address away, but nothing happened. Incredibly bad!

We were with our postnatal Group on June 19, 2008 at the Waldhaus in Colditz. (Four adult women and four small baby's. ) When we arrived the restaurant was completely empty and we sat in beautiful weather in the garden, where umbrellas were which were unfortunately closed. So we asked whether this please could be opened because we small children with had and seemed but more often on this day the sun rises over the middle of the day. The UNFRIENDLY waitress denied that question on the grounds that the wind once blew a screen you and they have not replaced them. It was only a light wind and no storm. This service force served us still very unfriendly. When we got the food and we then also almost at the same time all ceased had the first bite down with food. The dishes were partly so greasy that the surfaces that swam in the sauce already toxic were looking (salmon with pasta). The chicken breast was tough as chewing gum and (chicken on noodles and spinach) and the noodles were swimming in a cream sauce that resembled a soup. We have gone very unhappy again. The only thing that we enjoyed at this restaurant was the atmosphere. It is very comfortably furnished. But that's it already. Bottom line: not recommended!
