A nice experience but not particularly suitable for business travel. Too few parking spaces, untrained staff, Wi-Fi only in the lobby and breakfast well.

We found the reception staff a bit rude, the room was very clean but the head of the bed at the windows and the curtains over your face and pillows that were flat. Breakfast sucked and only Wi-Fi in creapy lobby. No worth €99. Never again.

Sometimes it's small things that lead to an assessment. In this case with the statement "Bread is out" (after you only got a tiny slice of the salad and asked for some bread later on, only to see that bread was brought at the side table.
If there is 20:30 bread in a hotel on Saturday evening, what is Sunday morning? If such little things don't fit.

Great place to stay. Really friendly staff, they even helped us to order pizza's as we arrived too late for the restaurant.

Since we were attending an Event, we spontaneously booked a Room at Alcatraz, which worked out without any problems. The Building and the History behind it are interesting and made us curious.
It was also a little Adventure to stay in a former Prison.
Check in Okay, hassle-free. Free On-site parking is free.
The Decor was minimalist, it seemed so far clean. Bath and Room (Junior Suite) sufficiently large, relatively spacious, good Views from our Room.
Breakfast, however, was disastrous. Nothing has been replenished. Coffee was greyish, lukewarm and the big jug at the Table filled just for a small Cup. Service Staff, especially at Breakfast and Check-out, seemed overwhelmed, not very professional and had no Overview at breakfast, especially at Breakfast.
For one Night and to have seen it well, but with this Breakfast and the Appearance of some Staff the price performance is not quite right.

For a night or two To recommend. Here you can think well into the Position of a Prisoner, even if you probably have a little more Comfort. The open TOILET in the Room and the Communal Showers on the Aisle help with the home. The Staff is very nice. Breakfast is much better than just Water and dry Bread.

Interesting hotel project. Rooms are ok. Certainly not for everyone.

Where did I end up here?
Nice idea and quite understandable that there is no shower in the room in prisons, but this is a hotel here. Community showers in the hallway, no shampoo in the dispenser, no hairdryer and a pissior actually IN the shower.

A former prison converted to a hotel that has retained the flair, the premises and the style. It is also located in the centre of Kaiserslautern. The breakfast buffet is very well stocked and varied… :-)

Overall, great experience. I would have rated it 5 stars, however, the Wi-Fi in the room was not working. I checked-in the middle of the night and the reception was very helpful. Hotel is centrally located and has ample free parking. To top it off, the free breakfast was well laided out and had a great variety. I will definitely stay again!

Very simple atmosphere. Lahmes internet. Would have expected more. Too expensive for the offered.

This is a decent theme hotel, with some compromises. The room was ok, clean and comfortable. The decor and architecture were unique, especially the prison bars in the lobby. There is no Wi-Fi in the rooms, which is understandable, but annoying. The real issue are the electric room door locks, it is difficult to ensure the room is locked when you're leaving for the day, and impossible to know if it locked when you're in the room. This former prison feels insecure!

The minimalist but modern rooms combined with the thick prison walls provide peace and quiet in the middle of the city. No Wi-Fi in the room ensures that you actually find you asleep. A highlight of the breakfast are the decidedly delicious rolls.

Nice place for business travelers, good service, friendly staff, clean and excelent breakfast. On the other hand the jail theme can be depressing…

Service is great, relaxed and helpful.

The hotel is of course quite interesting as a former prison and certainly something special from the look. But it also stops. The rooms are very small but reasonably clean. Wi-Fi was not available (no signal was found at all).
Breakfast and service were unfortunately the worst I have experienced for a long time. Service was simply not available, tables were not cleared at all. When I asked for coffee (for that I had to disturb the service forces in their entertainers), one arrived, went from table to table and then placed me from another table an empty can of cold bitter coffee. You could do something from the hotel, but not with this staff.

It's really like being in jail. All windows are grated and relatively cool. The food at the event was very poor. The principle is a good idea, but the implementation has weaknesses.

Super friendly, nice staff. Rooms impeccable. Good breakfast buffet! Centrally located to the Old — and downtown. I'm guaranteed to be a repeat offender!

A hotel in a former prison. Black-and-white striped towels are a nice touch.

Great hotel of a special kind. We wade a big group of cyclists. The wheels we could set in the house secured.

A former prison so imagine spending a night in the cell… for the rest courteous service and particular environment and outside the box. Definitely not suitable for long stays okay for one night.

Hotel that comes out of the ordinary since it is in an old prison. You can choose to sleep in a room-cell or in a comfortable room. Great location to explore the city centre on foot.

While the setting is very interesting, the staff is rather unhelpful. When I had a problem they could (or would not fix) they offered no suggestions, said sorry, then hung up.

Pretty well done converted jail into hotel with Sushi restaurant in bottom floor that was pretty good too but small portions. Stayed twice and almost another time. Maybe to new for people to find but thought rates were reasonable for area. Not immediately close to attractions but not to far away.

Great place with a twist. Could have had a fridge in room but minor. Bar was nice and cheap drinks. Breakfast was top level.

Unique experience. Easy to find using GPS. Helpful staff and other guests very courtious.

We had a nice stay in this particular hotel, the room wasvery nice (we took one small room with bunkbeds in an old cell) so the experience is to be lived. The japanese restaurant was very good and I totally recommend it. The hotel in general has some "chic" to it, the breakfast was of good quality. I'm giving only three stars because of some of the employees, and for the fact that when we arrived, no one was there at the desk and we waited for 30 minutes. We had to sneak in the kitchen to see if someone was there. Smiling is apparently not on the priority list and I often felt as I was REALLY bothering them with some questions…

A really cool hotel. It's a converted County jail now turned into a hotel. The upgraded rooms were quite nice. I'd stay here again. Two thumbs up!

The idea is class implemented. The rooms are very quiet as the walls are very thick. Friendly staff who are also very helpful.
What is missing is in-room Wi-Fi and an electric kettle.

Very friendly receptionist and exceptional japanese restaraunt (not sure if they are connected but it's the same building). The iron bars at the reception already make it special. Took shelter there to avoid heavy rain and discovered a very good Japanese restaraunt in the lobby.

Good place to go and be relax!

I find that this hotel is very cool and funny. Our cell was in order. The employees are nice.

We stayed at the Alcatraz Hotel in September of 2008, just before the Grand Opening! We were pretty much the first guests. The hotel is AWESOME! We would really like to go back one day!

There is hardly a room in which something is defective. But the worst is the cold. Through the window continuously cold air and the heaters are in the night parked. Freeze is guaranteed. Rooms are tiny as a shoebox. In the shower, the only sideways clean and on the bed stretched out, lying one touches both walls. Horror. Breakfast on the Minimum. Responsive without end. Night porter comes with longer sentences, definitely not. Who here is 5 star, there was either paid or has below-average expectations.

We have the Hotel on the day of the open door looked at. We have stayed there. It has to be something to be seen, but for us it would be nothing. It was clean and well maintained. It was too cold, too sterile, and too much red. But this is a matter of taste, said the monkey and bit into the soap.

Perfect setting for a theme hotel. I suspect there are exciting things to come as the project develops. Very good value for money and possibly the best buffet breakfast for miles.

Class design hotel in the old "jail" of Kaiserslautern. Thick walls, absolute peace.

Rude staff, I can only confirm. Despite Breakfast until 11 o'clock there was around 10 o'clock already no buns more. Comment: The Baker is sick! Staff not willing to the nearby bakery to go. This is not allowed. Only Newspapers from the previous day. Absolute Service Desert. Price/performance ratio is much too high. Despite the nice idea of a former prison to the Hotel to convert, absolutely not to recommend. Will often be to Kaiserslautern drive, but certainly not in Alcatraz to stay the night.
