Schloss Grube in Q&A

Information is provided based on reviews and may contain inaccuracies.

Where is Schloss Grube located, and what is nearby?

The hotel is situated in a very quiet location in the Prignitz region. In the immediate vicinity is the town of Bad Wilsnack with its thermal baths, as well as Plattenburg, one of the largest and best-preserved moated castles in Northern Germany. Guests highlight the convenient location and peaceful surrounding atmosphere.

Does the hotel have parking and charging stations for electric vehicles?

There is ample parking space available in front of the property. For electric vehicle owners, two charging stations are provided in the parking area for added convenience. The hotel also features a dedicated storage room (the "Witch's House") for securing bicycles overnight.

How polite and responsive is the staff at Schloss Grube?

Guest reviews are mixed. Many describe the staff as very friendly, attentive, and courteous, highlighting excellent service in the restaurant and at check-in. However, there are serious complaints regarding the management: guests have experienced ignored emails, website inquiry forms, and unanswered phone calls. One guest noted that the general manager provided inaccurate information regarding room availability.

Are there any hidden fees at the hotel?

One guest cautions about potential hidden costs. Specifically, a situation occurred where tea and coffee incurred an extra charge (€15), even though this information was not stated on the official breakfast menu, and the staff did not advise of the additional expense.

What kind of breakfast is offered at the hotel?

The hotel adopts an eco-friendly approach: instead of a traditional breakfast buffet (which was described in one review as small yet adequate), guests are invited to order from an à la carte menu the evening before. Breakfasts are freshly prepared, offering sweet, fish, hearty, or healthy options. Guests highly rate the quality of the food, praising the fresh sandwiches in particular, and appreciate this system for reducing food waste.

What type of cuisine is served at the hotel's restaurant?

The hotel's cuisine is rated as high-end and delicious, featuring beautiful food presentation. The menu includes classic options such as beef fillet, as well as exotic dishes like crocodile. Guests also enjoyed the pulled pork burger, though one visitor noted it was only lukewarm. For children, custom dishes can be prepared (such as French fries), even if there is no dedicated kids' menu. Prices range from moderate to fairly high.

What can you tell us about the room amenities and comfort?

The rooms are described as spacious, stylish, very clean, and cozy, featuring comfortable beds and pleasant linens. Amenities include a kettle, a coffee machine, and effective heating. The interior blends the castle's historical charm with modern touches and attention to detail. Some guests noted that the furniture and furnishings match the photos accurately and create a welcoming ambiance.

Does the hotel have a spa area or additional services?

A sauna is available on site. In addition, guests are offered supplementary activities, such as guided tours of the cellars to see the 12th-century foundations and the old well, complete with ghost stories about the castle. Bicycle rental is also available at the hotel.

What is the overall atmosphere at Schloss Grube?

The hotel features a very peaceful and relaxed atmosphere, making it an ideal retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation. Guests appreciate the historical setting, the beautiful library, and the opportunity to attend cultural events such as whisky tastings or intimate concerts.
