Very good location, friendly staff, clean, quiet but without air conditioning, no parking. Taken together, I'll be taking a hotel next time. Hostel is not for me, but it was an interesting experience.

Small and cosy place. Next to tram station so very convenient. Really affordable.

I would recommend to try somewhere else. When we first arrived, we didn't feel welcome showing up, and multiple workers made us feel as though we are an inconvenience. There are a lot of doors to go through making it slow and isolated. There is a door to outside, a door to the cafe, a door for each floor entrance, and one for the room. The common room looks like it is from the 1970's and hasn't been kept up since. The sink is small and a cabinet over top of it makes it very difficult to do the dishes. 22:00 to 7:00. It closes overnight so you can't access your own food from here is 1 bathroom for the entire 1st floor. The Wi-Fi was very poor in the rooms, constantly cutting out. We ended up in 2 different rooms on 2 different floors and still the Wi-Fi cut in and out. The one redeeming quality was one worker Mesa who was very helpful and the only person working there who seemed happy to help. She helped us with numerous things and I hope they keep her around.

Great stay in the hostel, secure, a key for the floor, a key for the room, and lockers in the rooms. Kitchen is well equipped, with even some free food left by past travelers. Breakfast is expensive in my opinion compared to what you can make with 5.80 euros yourself.

The place was good and the room is clean they have a good use of kitchen, if you want to cook that is a great place. The toilet and bathroom abit small but acceptable, the only issue I have was a strange guy stay in the some room as I did was very odd, I understand that was not the issue, but overall was good.

Very unusual hostel, where you have to enter through gift shop the bar. Really good staff, cool bar with nice music and environment. Rooms are clean. It was very nice to see bad sheets to put on place and I don't have to arrange them (hate it sometimes). Area is quite calm and nice.

Near the train station and the Cologne Cathedral. Room for 4, bath and WC in the room.

Algerbe clean and COM very good atmosphere. Breakfast not included per or good price. The coffee at the reception is very nice by day and very lively at night. Live music. Quiet and nice neighborhood with varied offer for dinner. It is not central but you get to the center on foot in 20 minutes. Well connected.

Fair prices on breakfast and drinks and aa quiet atmosphere. Live indie concerts round off the experience. Friendliness of staff varies from very charming to… lets say… not chatty!

Very charming decorated in vintage style, service very nice, but not particularly attentive, barely gave condition at the table.

We claimed a piece of pie because it really tasted awful. Although we got a replacement from another pie, with the comment that the colleague would have tried and it would be fine. As if we had nothing better to do than to complain about a piece of cake. The buns to the potato salad were as hard as old marshmallows. What a pity. Atmosphere and audience are good.

The hostel is definitely nicely done, at least in the lobby area. You can also drink a beer there.
However, the rooms are very small. In the bathroom you can quickly get scared of space and can't really turn around.
In a small room, 4 people are split up into two bunk beds. With €24 per person, there is a proud price per night for such a tiny room.
As it is located directly on a popular street, it is very noisy.
The subway, however, is right outside the door, which was very convenient.

After many challenges travelling, I finally arrived to this place where the food, environment, and people are warm. It is clean, safe, comfy, and serves a damn good selection of vegan foods and desserts, and offers delicious selection of coffee, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The establishment is nice and well-kept, and all food is made in house. Beds are comfortable and for a hostel it is quite a good choice.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room is clean, enough outlets, in a room for 6-a rocking chair, lockers on the castle, a table with chairs. The location is not quite touristy and the breakfast is quite poor for 5 euros, but it is not possible to take it.

Little shower. No elevator. But nice bar and great atmosphere. The kebab with EMI genuinely recommended. A super type.

I booked a private room for me and 2 more at the website and I had to pay beforehand. But when I arrived in the hostel, I had to pay 45 euros extra because they didn't have a room for 3 people (? ) As it it was my fault? The toilet has no heater or hand towels and the Wi-Fi does not work :)

Nice hostel for globetrotters in great location. For all other travellers rather so well, since already rocked quite down! In the baths not a single hook, no storage facility, the whole staircase and the shower smell of ailing sewers.

The individual room was nice although the staircase was a bit sketchy. The hostel ran out of hot water when I took my shower so that was terrible. Otherwise, classic hostel experience.

So I was just at the bar to buy a bottle of "gardener. " The shop looks quite nice, typical hipster shop. I said "hello, " but I wasn't noticed at first. After waiting 4 minutes for the lady at the counter to finish her private conversation and I finally got on, I was told I could only pay the €14 for the bottle in cash because card payments were only possible from €20onwards. Although I explained my problem (that I was arranged to eat, needed my last cash for it and would have to run to the next bank for 5 minutes so I don't have to pay a 4, €95 fee), I wasn't approached. So I had to put my last cash on the counter, drive to the bank and was late to my appointment. I honestly don't find good service. It was about the card payment fee and we're really talking about Peanuts here. And the lady at the counter wasn't really nice either. I even offered to pay £153, but no, can't, not until from €20. Her only suggestion was "buy two bottles!. " This was definitely my first and last visit to the store.

Nice enough for what it was. Room was small, and the plugs were in weird locations. One by the sink, and one next to the room entrance. Above the ground so hard to put plug in. Communal space and bar were very pleasant though. The staff were friendly and gave great recommendations.

Good and clean, the Metro stop is right outside the hotel.

The hostel was a really cheap sleeping option for me. Booking was easy. Checking in was also significantly friendlier than I would have expected.
For the room keys I had to deposit €20 as already announced when I booked. I got them back at check-out without request.
The hostel's café — & bar area was really cosy. The music was not too loud in the morning or in the evening. There is also live music every week from 8pm. Since I only stayed for 2 days, I could only experience one band. It was very crowded to the event. In the room in the 2nd floor, however, I did not notice anything of the company below.
Depending on which orientation of the room you catch, you sleep out to the street or the side lane. I was lucky enough to catch the latter. Therefore, I had no problems with noise or the like.
In the 1st floor there is a spacious kitchen/common room for hostel guests only. The bare essentials of dishes are plentiful. Also functioning oven, coffee machine and stove. You can store your food in 2 large refrigerators. I recommend pressing the labelling of these, otherwise they will be regarded as a common good. However, this is due to be made in writing.
Venloer Street has many smaller shops and is also very busy during the week. At first glance, I had to compare it with Kreuzberg in Berlin due to the high supply of Turkish stores. However, the food there was delicious and the owners round. Linguistically, there were no major problems either.

I was there 2x. In the lobby there is a café atmosphere with local hipster audience, even in the rest of the hostel it is not enough to get to know the one that otherwise simply falls into hostels, completely. The Klos do not seem to be cleaned daily, some walls (blood! ) sometimes belong painted, if you want to put luggage down after checkout, you have to do this completely unsecured. The Wi-Fi is unencrypted, so unsafe. Beds good and clean, bed linen but with holes. I had two Indians in the room one after the other, neither was probably explained how night's sleep works (TelKos from bed from 5 o 'clock in the morning, already various notification noises before). The shouting of the gentlemen fortunately took over a lady who was also asleep in the room.
The hostel is probably booked less by backpackers than by thrifty businessmen.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Thin clamping towels directly on mattress without schooner. On the first floor it stinks very much curry-like, 24 std/day. All strongly worn off.

Good and cheap hostel. Special discounts for hostel in the gastro below and really fabulous vegan and gluten cake. Staff are also super nice and helpful, with proper insider tips for going out and shopping. I like to come back, really extraordinary, I felt very comfortable.

The Weltempfänger Café is a nice, some kind of old-school-style café with some old-fashioned chairs and a canapé beneath some newer ones inside and outside where I enjoyed several cups of cappuchino and glasses of red wine. The prices for the drinks have been moderate and at the bar there was a jug of tap water for free for the thirsty ones. The people meeting there where around the age of 20 to 40, not including myself, and german — and englishspeaking. As common in hostels, you could leave your luggage in the bar if you checked out in the morning and if you where leaving anytime later in the day. In the bar there was the possibility for charging your cellphone, tablet or whatever if necessary. The service was friendly and the toilets clean. The average prices for the dormitory or rooms (I actually have no idea because I didn't stay overnight) started at € 19. You'll find the Weltempfänger Hostel and Café at the Venloer Str. Directly after leaving the metro line 3 or 4 at the station Piusstr.

Very well located, easy access whether you are driving or public transport. Metro stop right at the door and commuter station about 10 minutes walk with which you have connection to everything. Staff very friendly, attentive and professional. It has a dining room that you can visit also even if you are not a guest. They offer very good breakfasts with organic products and also have homemade cakes/cakes to accompany a good tea or coffee with friends or quietly in the company of a good book. The rooms may be somewhat small but very comfortable and clean everything. The bathrooms are also very clean. Highly recommended!

A good and cheap hostel, above all, the Carnival beat hotels are really extreme too, not so the world's recipient. Here the prices remain humane.
The cleaning is neat and the young people in the service are very friendly. I only give 4 deaths because the free kitchen leaves something to be desired in organization. But it is positive to mention that you can cook there in the primeval times and meet new people.

Overall good environment. Had some issues with our room not being ready in time, but the service was warm and friendly.

Amazing hostel. It's the most cozy one I've ever been to. There are a lot of unique things about this hostel, like it has a special backdoor entrance for when the reception is closed like in the night. The beds are very comfortable and everything is extremely clean. Breakfast and everything is very reasonably priced. People working at the hostel are very nice.

It's a very nice hostal, it would be perfect if it had a proper luggage room.

I know only café or the pub below, not the hostel. It is very relaxing to sit and there's a fairly good for Cologne beer selection (often a beer of the week) and they also have an own liquor. Often there are small concerts or events. The staff is always very nice.

Can not understand the criticism of some users. We were two of the 4 — 6 3 2016 in the world receiver and can recommend this hostel of in good conscience. Location great, nicely decorated Cafe. We had room 12. It was clean, nicely furnished, painted not too long ago. The staff was very friendly and helpful. To get breakfast in order and in the cafe as Hostelgast very cheap prices for drinks. Only the kitchen and living room on the first floor looked not very inviting, what could be some guests but the behavior, which are apparently unable to dispose of their garbage and dirty dishes or to clear away. Until the next time the world receiver. :-)

We are now already three times here in the W. Recipients and to report only good. Here worth a visit in any case, for young and older. If I can u. It is what free can be found me again here.

The rooms could be better maintained. The images are on the website in real humbling. The staff is to 'hipster'-mäßig on the road (the bar staff served only if you're already 10Minuten, because your own cell phone and talks proceed, on demand after a hair dryer will be asked why you need the). The location of the hostel is very good. Lies in the obese district and the Metro is right outside the door.

Went for a drink here, laid back atmosphere. But, nothing special and crappy seats. Not the world famous backpacking atmosphere at all.

Best hostel of the dozens I stayed in. Homely atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff, ok rooms with bathroom, superb breakfast, and all that for cheap moneyz.

Nice place, cute coffee bar, a bit slower internet but functional, hot showers, great and helpful personnel, serious and attentive boss. My Deutsch was nicht so gut, but that wasn't a problem at all. First time in Deutschland, and from a 3 nights experience, I would choose this one again. No worries being 1400 km away from home. Vladimir aus Serbien.

Pretty nice hostel: the showers (two for 12 bunks) and toilet (1 for 12 bunks) are limited, but it's quite clean, cheap, and comfortable. The bar/café downstairs is great, with very pleasant, helpful staff.

There is café/restaurant on the 1st floor of the hotel. What is quite convenient in the morning. Cool breakfast and nice people working in the reception. Room was too small for me (the kind of a cupboard), but everything clean, was even breathed by purity. You also can use a gest room and a kitchen which include everything you use for cooking at home. Unattended. Location is also successful-all important places it's possible to reach quickly. If not by foot-there are bicycles rent shop 5 minutes from hotel. Not expensive in compare with most of hotels in the city.

Mein absolutes Lieblingscafé in ganz Köln, egal ob zum Kaffeetrinken und quatschen, abends n leckeren Gärtner trinken und quatschen, arbeiten oder lesen — I love it! Besonders toll — vegetarische/vegane kleinigkeiten zum Essen hausgemacht (mein Liebling: Bulgursalat) und die Kuchen, auch hausgemacht (russischer Zupfkuchen — der Burner! ). So gut wie immer superMusik und sehr coole Veranstaltungen (Lesungen, Konzerte,. ).

Prices are OK. Right in the heart of Ehrenfeld. Good music for any time of the day. Hotel room clean. ;-)

Underground and Live Music Hall are just around the corner. Great Bars in Ehrenfeld and in the Belgian quarter almost directly in front of the door. To The U-Bahn Stop Piusstr. It is almost exactly 3m, umbrella, and clamping is not worth it. Tips staff, helpful and friendly. Hot showers, no hidden costs. Great Café and spitzenmäßiger homemade liqueur! All TOP!

Here you can get for little money a nice and clean accommodation. The staff are very pleasant. Super is the location. One jiffy is in the centre and also if you to the trade fair, the location is ideal. In the evening, however, is not necessary. First, is that the Cafe is really nice and also there in this district (Ehrenfeld) a lot more beautiful nightlife.
