Hotel Gut Thansen

The hotel staff is described as very friendly, attentive, warm, and professional. Many guests highlight the team's dedication to their work and their prompt assistance in resolving requests. However, some guests noted that the reception is only staffed during check-in and check-out hours. Difficulties with the reservation process were also mentioned, as it requires phone calls or emails, and the confirmation must be printed, signed, and returned.

Breakfast at the hotel is rated very highly, with fresh rolls, coffee, juices, scrambled eggs with bacon, salmon, and pancakes receiving special praise. The restaurant serves high-quality dishes that guests describe as a "real hit." A dedicated children's menu is available, although one guest noted that due to limited options, they had to place a custom request for pasta with tomato sauce for the children. Dinner and barbecue are available in the evening, though some guests noted the absence of full bar service late at night (only a refrigerator is accessible).

The hotel is an excellent venue for seminars, workshops, and corporate events. Guests praise the modern conference rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology and the professional event coordination. The internet connection works well, which is convenient for business travelers. Overall, the property is described as an ideal balance of productive working conditions and the opportunity to relax in nature.

Reviews regarding the rooms are mixed: some guests find them cozy, stylish, and clean, while others report that they are quite small (around 10 sq m) and lack sufficient electrical outlets and storage space. Some reviews mention that the buildings have poor sound insulation. There were also complaints regarding dust in dresser drawers and sand on the carpets due to the lack of daily housekeeping.

Some rooms lack air conditioning and ventilation systems, which can cause discomfort. One guest noted poor air circulation even with the window open. In addition, due to the thatched roof directly outside the windows, insects can accumulate, prompting guests to keep the windows closed.

Rooms are equipped with a hairdryer; however, some guests were dissatisfied with the toiletries, as shampoo, shower gel, and shaving foam are provided as an all-in-one powder sachet that has an unpleasant scent and can be harsh on skin and hair. Rooms do not include safes or refrigerators.

Housekeeping has received criticism: some guests noted a complete lack of daily room cleaning and fresh linen changes. There were instances where guests found dust inside furniture or sand on the floor that was not cleaned throughout their multi-day stay.

The hotel is very well-suited for families with children, offering ample outdoor space for playing and running around. Special children's menus and treats, such as an ice cream van, are provided. The hotel is also pet-friendly, as reflected in positive feedback from dog owners.

The property is a restored historic farmstead set in beautiful surroundings. Guests can enjoy walks through forests and meadows, horse-drawn carriage rides (Kutschfahrt), Kubb (Viking chess) tournaments, and relaxing by the lake. For hosting private functions, there is a glass pavilion as well as cozy event rooms such as Kota and Hyrse.

Some guests consider the accommodation rates to be on the higher side, citing prices around €200 per night. Elevated drink prices in the restaurant were also noted, with a glass of wine or a serving of brandy ranging from €7.70 to €10.90.
