To live in the walls of former famous Carl Zeiss factory provides a feeling of melancholy to me. I was thinking back 60 yrs ago to my studies, when I had visited the buildings sometimes tho gain practical experiences. Now there is this modern hotel with nice comfortable rooms and friendly service. An only minus: the air condition is obviously controlled centrally, so the fan pushed cold fresh air continuously into the room, not comfortable to all times. And: a water kettle is missing. Nevertheless, a nice comfortable period of residence! I recommend the place!

The value for money was unbeatable for us (2 adults and one baby). We booked a room very short at short notice and got a nice big room. The location is 1A, the room is clean. A small kitchen with full facilities (toaster, Nespresso machine, kettle, crockery and cutlery) is even included in the room. A baby cot was lovingly prepared, although we did not order one at all. A wrap-up pad was even provided to us. In the bathtub there is a rubber duck for the little one. You rarely have such a great service. We had a very nice stay. Thank you very much!

Very nice hotel and everything very good. My shortcomings too little water pressure on the 7th floor and the filter coffee. But otherwise class.

Hotel in a prime location. Clean pleasant rooms, good beds. Top breakfast buffet. Songs a little expensive, otherwise everything best.

Okay. Everything is averge. Carpets in the room were full of stains and the rubber sheet between sheet and mattress is horrible.

Very centrally located, Room okay, but rather 3 Stars, especially Bathrooms, nothing Special, breakfast varied, Was a Bargain by Mountains & Sea, IBIS would probably offer similar Comfort. Construction is interesting but winding. As a Berge & Meer-Bucher, I always find myself "persona schmarotza" at Steigenberger. Steigenberger fares to be rebuilding//Renovation phases.

Large beautiful Rooms with a beautiful Bathroom. Service is very nice & attentive. Breakfast is varied. There is enough Of Ei/. Scrambled eggs, Salmon, cheese, Sausage and also for Sweet Cats.
In The middle of Jena, Shops and great Restaurants Walk to the Moment.
We even received Late evening at 22:45 food in the Restaurant! Thanks to Sindy from Restaurant Service Personal For that! And I must not forget Mrs. Look from the Reception. Very competent & friendly!

A hotel in a sophisticated ambience — I find. From the reception to the staff in the restaurant it was perfectly fitted.
The room was tastefully decorated, clean and bright. The view of the mall was a bit unusual but not a problem. The room was also very quiet at night, with open window.
The breakfast is really varied. Fresh food, fruit, juices and much more.
The entrance to the underground garage is a bit adventurous… by car in an elevator, I know so seldom.
I would have liked to visit the Spar, but had no opportunity.

More than two stars definitely not! A disaster for the many stars that it has. In many three-star inns you will find a friendlier and more responsive ambiance.
The staff is totally inflexible and disorganized.
Rooms were clean, the bathroom a disaster (yellow stains on abgekauten white towels and the feeling that were cleaned with the same flap mirror, sink and toilet).
Definitely no second time.

The Steigenberger Esplanade is the perfect place to sleep. The rooms are very quiet. On the upper floors there is also a Class view over the city. The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and the bathrooms above all are very pleasant since the renovation (no more bathtubs, but showers).
The breakfast is extraordinary! I've never fallen in here. Also not for Sunday brunch.

Make sure the receipt that you get is correct. Instead of writing a bill on my company's name, they wrote it on my name and now I cannot get the money back from my company. Having asked to make a separate bill for the sauna and argumenting that the sauna is not paid by the company was not enough for them to understand what I needed. Obviously, they don't ask you… private or firma? On the other side, the glasses in my room where not clean at all and it was loud in the night as someone was playing in the hall of the hotel. My advice, try get another hotel in Jena.

First the positive things — friendly and courteous staff, great architecture, nice hotel bar for a small lunch snack. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed, which you could have mentioned when booking. Parking! Located in the public Parkus of the Goethe-Galerie. But instead of describing the way to the driveway, a car lift was installed. You have to drive in and press the Ticket button. Nothing happened to me. I had to torture myself out of the car to get to the emergency button. A friendly staff member then took me after 15 min. Removed from the predicament. We had a studio, small living room, small sleeping room, bathroom with bathtub and shower block. For the price still OK. In the evening the air conditioning/heating started to rumble and hum. The night concierge tried to intervene, but without any right success. We slept pretty badly.
The shower experience: at the generous separation vobeigequält and waited for warm water, I wanted to give up unnerved when then still water with reasonable temperature came. After that I tried to freshen up under the mini shower head with alibi water pressure. Completely inadequate for the claim of the house.
Breakfast: 18. — € per person. Actually a rich breakfast buffet, but all I tried was of inferior quality. Dry scrambled eggs that immediately reminds you of the ready-made egg of a fast food restaurant. The bacon was already fried at night and placed on the warming plate for final drying. We also have the sausages.

Stay OK but terrible light in the rooms, breakfast boring, bar not frequented, but very nicely cared for!

Room was okay. Hotel was under renovation so not so nice. Was MUCH nicer when I visited 10 years ago!

The hotel bar is great! Awesome drinks at a fair price. Very nice staff and the food in the restaurant is very tasty. Unfortunately that's about it with the positives.
Taking a shower in this hotel (If you manage to since the water pressure is sometimes so low barely any water comes out) can cost you, the paying guest, 500 Euros as the disclaimers in the bathrooms will tell you. They failed to install a proper ventilation system so suddenly opening the bathroom doors can set of the fire alarm. And yes, they will fine you 500 Euros for it because THEY didn't sort out their ventilation. Thank god that didn't happen to me but the fact that this is a thing is ridiculous.
Charging 8 Euro for the privilege to even use the room service. Also something I never heard of. But you're not missing much since the room service menu doesn't have much to choose from anyway.
It's also another one of these hotels that has a "double bed" that's really 2 single beds next to each other. So trying to cuddle with your other half will result in one of you uncomfortably lying on the gap in between the beds.
I can't comment on the spa/sauna since I was too busy to go but it sounded nice.
If these problems would be sorted out I would probably give them a chance on my next visit to Jena. I'd love to change this review to 5 stars one day.

Nice rooms, nice environment, amazing staff. Not just the front desk, but thought the hotel. The staff is polite, always smile, and perform their duties pleasantly and appropriately. Also, they are all well spoken in English, and were patient with all the questions I've had.

The room and Breakfast generous. Underground Parking is very expensive. Operation in the Moonlight Bar a bit sluggish.

More appearance than reality! On the outside of the Hotel is nothing to criticize. The staff is very friendly, as it should be for a 4* Hotel. Used, we have only a double room with an interesting view of the shopping centre. Which, unfortunately, is not at all was in order, was our air conditioning switched off and the non-functioning TV. With friends in addition to the same Problem. All of us was a technician and the solution of the problem promised. But a technician is not erschiehen and the air conditioning worked up to, not Tomorrow. The room was soon illuminated by the sun and heated by the large window.
