Enjoyed a week in this hotel during my first visit to Berlin. It was centrally located and walkable. The hotel was near the S — and U-Bahnstations as well as historic landmarks. The hotel was spotless and offered modern amenities such a dining and spa services. My guestroom was spacious, well appointed, and served as a great place from which to work and rest.
Staff were excellent service providers from providing local directions to ensuring my stay was delightful. I was greeted positively every time I encountered a member of the staff regardless of their position. Dining, whether breakfast or dinner, was a treat with fresh, delicious, and healthy options. Housekeeping staff was efficient and responsive. Overall, staff was extremely helpful and professional.
I will definitely return to the Mandala Hotel the next time I'm in Berlin.
This was my 2nd stay with the Mandala, the 1st was 20 years ago. The hotel staff are wonderful, attentive, thorough and so helpful. The hotel itself is in a prime location. Rooms are spacious and well appointed, and the food is excellent. My only critiques are relatively minor, but all things that did detract from what was an otherwise 5-star stay, and are signs the property could be on a downward decline if not corrected. One, the mattress felt a bit cheap and wasn't nearly as comfortable as less expensive hotels I've stayed in on this trip. Two, we had issues with the power in our room. A few lights randomly wouldn't turn on and then randomly would. Some plugs for our phone chargers didn't work properly, and seemed to not be getting enough power. Related to this, the bedside tables were tiny and the only available plug underneath which was very awkward to reach. Lastly, this is a minor issue but it was notable, we stayed in 6 different cities on this trip with hotels of all types and this one was the only hotel that did not offer any kind of complimentary water. After a full day of walking or when needing to take morning or evening medication, this became an issue.
Altogether it's still an outstanding hotel in a fantastic location with top tier staff and service. I hope they attend to these details because it is otherwise a total gem of a hotel.
