Mercure Hotel Berlin Mitte

This is definitely not the best Accor property. The accommodation is quite outdated, and a comprehensive renovation will be necessary sooner rather than later. In addition, we were expecting a fridge, but none are available in the rooms. Other than that, the place is clean and can be recommended for those with business in this area. Otherwise, better Accor options are available in the city if you are looking for one.

We chose to visit Berlin shortly before Christmas to experience the markets. The booking was for 6 people (3 adults, 3 children). The hotel was easy to find, within easy distance from Berlin Hauptbahnhof (15 minute walk/5 mins by public transport). The staff on the front desk were welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were clean, well presented, well equipped, and comfortable. For breakfast, there was a wide variety of foods available and perfectly set us up for the day. The bar offered a good selection of food and drinks, at prices I would expect for a hotel. The food we ordered looked and tasted delicious. The location of the hotel worked well for us; it was very close to tram stops and the U-bahn (on which note, I would highly recommend downloading the BVG Fahrinfo app to buy tickets and navigate Berlin using public transport).
The reasons I didn't give a perfect rating:
— the beds weren't the most comfortable that I've slept in, compared to some other budget/mid-priced hotels.
— the bar (although every aspect of it was good) played hip-hop music through the TV. Nothing against hip-hop, but it's not the most conducive for relaxing of an evening, verging on distracting.
— the central location is a double-edged sword: it is great for accessibility, but not for views, and the traffic/trams could be slightly disturbing at night.
These criticisms aside, I would stay here again, as overall it is a good hotel with great staff.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel on an extremely cold Berlin weekend. But the hotel was warm and the staff very friendly and accommodating. We arrived late but were efficiently checked in in no time. The room whilst on the small side was modern and clean. The beds are comfortable but could do with an extra pillow in the wardrobe to save a trek to reception to obtain more. Breakfast was great with a lovely wide selection to choose from. We ate in at the restaurant one evening and whilst the portions were on the small side, it was tasty and well prepared, not just warmed up in a microwave. All in all, it made for a lovely stay and we wouldn’t hesitate in staying here again (and have recommended to our friends who will be visiting Berlin later this year)
