Hostelo Berlin

I was almost about to leave. It was full of men. Nobody shared my room. When I inquired if nobody had a booking in my room, they shown a list of guests to me to convince me that the other guests will be coming in later in the night.
Whatever they said, sounded like a plot.
It was difficult to trust that the other men who were sleeping in other rooms or walking around were not the friends of the men at the reception, but guests.
This hostel was displayed as 'completely booked' online but I could see that several beds were free.
It wasn't possible to lock the door of the room because all guests weren't in. When I expressed my discomfort, they offered a room-separator to me so that nobody knows I am sleeping there. They offered another room to me where others were already in a sleep mode. None of this comforted me.
Then I sat there to read every single review I could possibly find online. In the end, I decided to stay.
I woke up next morning all fresh, safe and happy.
It seemed more like a small guest house. Hostel vibes were missing.
Perhaps they could have focused more on cleanliness. The toilet could have been bigger. Shower area could have been separate for women with a lockable door.
Location was perfect.
I chatted with the man at the reception using translation app as they spoke only Turkish.

First of all, it was cold there. It's been cold summer days (~10° at night), so turned on heater would be very appreciated. Also, the blanket was thin. Maybe it was possible to ask for a second one, but I always have been coming back too late and leaving too early, the buro was closed. It's been especially cold in the shower, even though the water is nice and hot.
Speaking of the shower — you won't like it, if you like privacy. The screen at the entrance to the shower is very unreliable, and if desired, you can peek through it if suddenly there is some bad person among the guests. I was told that the shower was better in the other part of the hostel, through the stairwell, but I didn't have slippers to go there.
But the guy in the buro was really nice!

There were BEDBUGS. Absolutely awful and we've spent a lot of time and money treating our belongings since getting home.
Luckily we found them before going to sleep on our first night, but this left us needing somewhere to stay and paying up for a last minute hotel. There was no sign of remorse or apology from the man lingering around and appeared to be in charge. On top of the bedbugs, the mattresses had black mold and stains, the sheets and room were overall dirty and clearly had not been cleaned any time recently. I cannot stress, do not book this hostel, it's not worth the financial savings.
