Probably the worst experience I ever had. Room pics as nothing to do with real rooms, we reserved a 21 sq. Mt room and we had a — maybe — 12 sq. Mt. Room and we had to wait one day to receive clean towels. But the most disappointing point was the staff. I never ever seen so many rude people all together, totally unfriendly and disinterested on helping guests.

If you're a black guy and there's a disturbance in your room you're getting kicked out. Two guys had a fight in my room and they had their rooms changed and I was told to leave the hostel for no reason. Iyou're not a black guy, you should visit, the place is totally fun and good for a night's sleep.

The area is terrible, not a supermarket or bakery in the vicinity, full of garbage and dirt. The lift had wood panels and pieces of fabric taped together, we didn't feel safe using it. In addition we were on the 8th floor and the lift only got to the 7th. The room they gave us hadn't been cleaned from the people before us. We asked for another room which had been cleaned but in fact wasn't clean. Both of the rooms (twin rooms) looked NOTHING like the ones on the website, a lot smaller. Not a bad value for money but you can find better for this price.

The location is super, the price was still at 50 euros for a huge room.

The 1 star is for the friendly and helpful staff. The rest should be zero. BED BUGS! I booked a single room, woke up and found that I had 37! bites on my face, neck, shoulder, arms. The photos were from a day or 2 later. I hope to god none got into my stuff… I'm scared to go home. Actually why is this place even open? isn't there some kind of health and safety regulator in Germany? If you look at the other reviews this is not the first cast of bed bugs reported here.

Beautiful hostel at 20 minutes walk from Alexanderplatz. The rooms are spacious and modern. In the lobby of the hotel you can find recreation areas (foosball, television, bar and different sofas). The whole thing is well clean.

No. The staff was very helpful. Noisy, dirty room, look under the bed, the broom does not pass. … To avoid.

The rooms were clean and the showers are stocked with shampoo and body wash. The lobby area was big and had lots of places to sit which was nice… Though one of the work ladies got all upset at me for lying back while waiting for my booking confirmation and not sitting up straight, which I thought was quite rude. I also booked my stay through Expedia and ended up being surprised with hidden fees at the counter. Apparently they require you to buy their sheets for your bed and won't even let you into your room until you do so. That kinda ruined the whole experience for me.

Unfortunately, there is a point deduction for the parking lots. We had already booked a parking space online in advance. We were then allowed to pay for it on site. In fact, however, we did not get one, as everyone was occupied and the underground car park was half blocked with building materials due to the conversion. The staff reportedly didn't know about it, but at least we got the money back.
The room was small but okay. But you don't really find peace. The hotel is extremely light hearing. So if you have the wrong neighbors, you can brace yourself for a restless night.
Unfortunately, the service was not the yellow from the egg either.
Verdict: Hotel for the small purse in a good location.

Not bad a hotel, very close to Berghain, the beauty of the curtains is not enough shading, daytime sleep is not comfortable.

The common area is extremely modern and well equipped but the rooms are a disaster. Dirty at arrival, view of a literal wall right in front of the window and broken furniture. Water pressure is extremely low which makes it nearly impossible to shower. Overall the rooms are just visibly dirty, damaged and old. (& there is only one elevator for the entire building with several hundred rooms)

Nice location comfortable young room a bit of casino day and night, breakfast exaggerated meals more than discreet we are in Germany Catalan cream great, clean large rooms.

Where should I start all the staff is totally overwhelmed, unfriendly and does not get to hand a room decent and clean to the next.
It is said that they put a very high value on cleanliness, which is not true we had to change the room three times in two days due to insects (bed bugs) infestation.
When we returned to the "completely cleaned up" room, nothing was done except the mattresses flipped and sucked and not even decent.
So who wants to go on a graduation trip or so to Berlin I would recommend another hostel.

The location of the hotel is a bit awkward in regards to getting into the city centre, it's fine during the day but if you want to go clubbing it's pretty confusing and difficult finding your way back. The rooms were really nice, comfy and have all the amenities you want. The communal area downstairs was also really nicely furnished and had lots of good offers for food & drink — great for meeting people. My only criticism of the hotel was the fact there was only one working lift which meant constantly waiting, because it was very busy. I would definitely stay here again though, so if you want somewhere affordable and reliable to stay in Berlin, this is the place for you. :)

The worst thing I've ever seen/experienced. Check in completely overwhelmed. Room dirty walls, broken shower, windows with paper sealed, remote control broken. Lobby messes up empty liquor bottles everywhere. Noise everywhere at night… Lighting from the parking lot all night in the room.
Price/performance an absolute impudence!

The room was clean and the breakfast OK. Also the staff was friendly. However, the rooms are very noisy, and the bathroom in the double room was so small that you get trouble when the door is closed… Unfortunately, the luggage room was not available on the day of departure even though this service is advertised. That's why I only have 2 stars.

It is super noisy, you hear everything from those above one or next to you as well as if someone just goes quietly the hallway long. Even snoring from the neighbouring room! So whoever wants to sleep is looking for him in vain…
There are no blinds and the curtains do not really hold the light from the illuminated road.
Rooms are very very small and not so clean. It is a miracle that you can turn in the bathroom at all.
Staff is very nice and friendly.
Breakfast is OK.

Came to Berlin on a Stag Do. We were recommended this Hostel by the Stag who had stayed at another A&O Hostel. We were very pleased with the booking. Within a 10 minute walking distance of the main train station, very easy to find. Welcoming front desk staff who made it easy to book in. One of our friends actually messed up his reservation and booked his room on the wrong month. After a bit of a shuffle around they managed to find him a better room at the rate he originally paid and was given a complimentary beer while he waited! The hostel has a variety of rooms to suit everyone. Some booked a single room, some a twin while others lumped in together with a 4 bed dorm. The beauty of this is that it suits everyone's tastes and we get to all stay in the same venue. Rooms (incl. Toilet) were all clean and tidy on arrival. Breakfast in the morning was great, lots of choice. Plenty of space to sit in the restaurant and in the main bar/foyer area which was great after a night out and having one last drink at the bar before retiring to your room. Overall, would definitely use this Hostel again. I would even bring my family at some point as there were plenty of families staying.

Stay here if you want the quintessential hostel experience: being nickel-and-dimed for sheets, towels, lockers, and kitchen use; apathetic staff; rude roommates; ill-equipped kitchen facilities that only sometimes work; noisy and crowded common spaces; and a poor night's sleep. Of course, some of this comes with the territory of staying in a hostel—and yet, there are much more pleasant hostels in which to stay for the same (or lower! ) prices. A&O's defining feature is how large it is, which is both its biggest asset and it's downfall. Because it is so large, it runs efficiently, is well-known, and easy to find. However, its size also means that it is constantly overrun with noisy and messy residents and the staff have little time to help with any problems that may arise. There is no charming sense of international community at A&O as there is at other hostels. It is not located particularly close to any forms of public transport except for a few bus stops—the nearest train station is several ill-lit blocks away, and there are almost always groups of loud young men loitering outside the hostel after dark. As a woman especially, I was constantly nervous about my safety and privacy.

Sincerely, its really bad. The blankets were very dirty, the location was kind of bad and the rooms could be a lot better. Shame on you, A&O Berlin Mitte!

Great for educational visits. Giant Hall and well organized. Multiple rooms a little too small (some). Distance from Metro station about 600 metres.

The hotel is very large and has many rooms. The reception is manned 24 hours and you can always get a snack or something to drink here. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms and bathroom were very small but adequate for one night. Beds were rather uncomfortable. Breakfast was not particularly great as the selection was low and quality was not good. Here too the staff was rude.

What an adventure!
As soon as you enter the room we found ourselves in the guy inside unknown to us. As a start it was very interesting.
Ps: The patch of dirt on the 5th floor looks like dry blood, you could wash it. Thank you.

Cheap, but not very central. The equipment is poor and simple, but sufficient. The rooms were clean, but partly in need of renovation.
The breakfast is extremely simple and the cost is adequate.

My laptop was stolen from my locked room today. The management said she'd show the room logs and videotapes to the police, but when they got here that data wasn't shown to the them, the manager just told them that nobody entered the room and that probably I had left the door open. But guess what: the door closes by itself and locks by itself even if someone leaves it opened. I showed that to the policeman and they ensured me that this fact would be written in the police report. I would steer away from this place, if something like this happens, who knows what else may happen.

To spend a night with cheap breakfast is good. But unfortunately the curfew at 10:00 for those who want to rest this is not ideal because a lot of noise.

Very happy with the stay in this hostel. Well located. For about 25 €/person it's super OK. For this price we had 2 double rooms. Clean rooms with TV shower WC. Continental breakfast at will. Free Wi-Fi. We'll be back!

Good location, pretty central and close to all the sights. Very comfortable and good price. Rooms spacious enough with good furniture and cleanliness. Staff very friendly and polite. There is a common hall with sofas, television, tables and chairs, Futbolin, etc which is a good place to socialise and hang out.

I staid at the hostel as an independent traveller and knew it was a hostel used by schools and college groups. My room was in a quiet area of the hostel and was clean and comfortable. I booked a single room but was allocated a twin and the extra room was most welcome. The breakfast buffet was basic, same every day, but good and included gluten free muesli and bread which was a nice surprise. Due to the groups, the breakfast room is busy at all times and noisy but that is expected in a hostel. The hostel is sited conveniently for all sites and visitor attractions and I would recommend buying a Welcome card to make transport a breeze around the city. The only negatives at the hostel were the shower holder being fixed and ridiculously high making hands free showering impossible for me (and anyone under 6'6") and the lifts were not always accessible/working. Having a kettle in the room would be welcome too. The main reason for only 3 stars was a nightmare experience with the central customer service prior to arrival. You cannot call the hostel directly with any requests/requirements and have to go through the central service. Emails were not answered initially, follow up resulted in unhelpful and conflicting information. I had to ring from the UK and hold in a queue of 9+ (3 times), having waited until my turn I was cut off. I was also cut off by staff that couldn't answer my questions rather than refer on.

Friendly and quiet Hotel. Small and clean room Perfect for young travelers who don't have many pretensions about where to stay. Very close to the Ubann line 8 and the bus station.

Near the center. Bus in front of the entrance. Metro at 200 mtrs. I would definitely come back again.

The common area was great there was a little library (I love to read) a cafe like area and somewhere to buy propper food. A nice long table with lots of outlets on it mad it east for me to plug in and go online for a while and would be great for someone who has work to do, just walk with your headphone it got kind of loud. The down sides were that you had to make your own bed which is a problem when your checking in at 11:00pm and people are sleeping. The bathroom, while big is a wet room style and didn't drain properly so was kind of gross and wet and the lockers were on the small side.

Good location if a little far from the city centre (many buses and underground trains available though to make this quicker), comfortable beds and quality accomadation for the price. Lobby is a great place to hang out which provides hot and cold food and drinks. There are too few staff manning the bar in the lobby though so often there is a 15/20 min wait.

Blood on the curtains. Dirty bathroom. Catastrophic parking situation. Room was too small.
If I could evaluate without a star, I would do it.

We had to change the room twice because it smelled out of the shower after decaying eggs. I think it can be held for one or two days, but it doesn't have to be again. My conclusion is: prefer to spend a few euros more and take a sensible hotel room.

Very good hotel but other than that the bedding was deplorable. Sleeping on the floor would have been much better than in Japan.
The elevator for our area didn't work. Everything was done on foot.
Very large room and comfortable for several adults with toilet and internal shower.
The door to our room had a crack start and could be robbed at any time.

Not soundproofed walls, therefore being a place especially frequented by young people and very young, can be noisy even in the middle of the night. A little soft mattresses.
Clean and comfortable common spaces. Luggage storage very practical on the day of departure. Bar Open 24 hours a day.

Good value for money, helpful staff, very small rooms, mediocre cleanliness, good location just a few minutes walk from Metro stop.
Recommended to those who are not interested in the comforts of the room but to those who use it only to take a shower and sleep.

It's comfortable to come as a couple, I came on the side of the hotel. Super Full breakfast, the hall is huge with many places recreation, close to a station and a 40 minute walk to the museum island. The walls are very thin and you hear about the room next door, but we were touched by good neighbors…

The price of the central location is good. Lobby and breakfast as well. Management is somewhat careless, which gives you freedoms, but some visitors seem too much. The rooms look accordingly. At the elevator, you are always happy when the door opens squeaky. It was not possible for us to get batteries for the TV remote.

Costumers were very friendly, only one woman were a little edgy. Rooms are small but you still have enough space. Pait for 2days ca. 180€ for a 2bedroom with private bathroom. Everything was excellent for the price.

Nice staff. Clean rooms. Faults at the bed or our bed stood directly on the heater and on the tubes. Very hot! Otherwise you can expect a lot of comfort for the price nicjt. Connection to the city was very good.

The rooms are clean, big and nice for the price. The beer was excellent and very cheap. The common rooms are amazing and huge. If you want to mingle with fellow travelers this is the perfect place to do so.

Breakfast room and lobby just renovated, has become very nice. Breakfast is good. Unfortunately, our room was "cleaned" in the hotel area of 6 nights only in 3 days, never made beds.

This time, though, construction work was In the breakfast room and the reception, but such a thing must also be done. When everything is ready, it is nice and modern and it was also necessary to be able to stay competitive.

The breakfast was as always quite adequate and delicious, fresh bread rolls, sausage, cheese, eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, salads, cereals etc. And always replenished immediately.

The location is great for activities in the city just class, Subway and S-Bahn are not far away so easy to reach on foot.

Really nice Hostel, close enough to most of Berlin's touristic attractions and even some nice bar/clubs. The room I had was quite nice, with 4 single beds in it, a washroom (with a shower and sink) and a selarated toilet. There was also Breakfast included and it was quite good. Overall a really nice experience!

Building is under construction. I've asked the front desk to mark the elevator and stairs which lead to the site so no one wanders into it and was told simply not to use the elevator and to walk and find another. (my room leads straight to the construction site which is only makes with a sign that says not to enter the building) 9days here, no safety precautions taken and I was never given a floor plan to be able to find other elevators or stairs. I even wrote a letter and have it to the front desk. I've never stayed any place that encourages guests to wander in places they otherwise would not be until they find where they should. The staff treated me like a lazy person seeking an Elevator, but I work at a hotel and know that this is dangerous. Plus the elevator that leads to the site is glitching… bad customer service and disregard for safety. Lol but it's cheap lol NOW FIX IT.

The combination of price-quality. The rooms are small, simple. Tv. Clean! The plumbing is new. The location is gorgeous! On foot you can walk to Alexanderplatz, near the subway, trains (you can drive in a straight line to the center.
Ideal if you come not to sit in the room all the time, but to walk around the city!

The room is good and well located but the worst thing is that they do not come to clean or make the beds… they have not brought no sheets… we had to go to ask for towels to shower, being four days here. They are not friendly, before leaving the room we are called to kick us out… and it was not even 10 in the morning… the spring mattress half broken… Windows do not close well…

It was a really bad hotel. Even a outhouse is more beautiful. On the walls was sperm and on the bed blood. The staff was very rude. You could also find mold. Besides, the dishes were filthy and the food caused abdominal cramps. Conclusion on the road it is nicer.

Cheap and well connected. I don't give you the last for the beds are regular.

The beds were very uncomfortable, you noticed every single feather in the cross. There is no reason to think about restful sleep. Unfortunately, the night's sleep was not observed (from 10pm). Because the house is very noisy, you just hear everything. The bathroom was too small. You couldn't even make the door when you were sitting in the toilet.
I would not recommend it to anyone.
Of course you can't complain about the price, but nevertheless I would have liked to have a good bed at least.

Clean rooms. Easy access through public transport. Location close to the Berlin Wall, discotheques, restaurants and historical attractions.

Not everything was reconstructed and designed very well. The ladders of the bunkbeds missed screws and the shower could have used an other look at before making it the way it is. Nice staff though and great variety of choices at breakfast. Nice proportion between price and quality.

I had a room for 4 people. It was way too small for 4 people. A closet was not present, the windows with locks closed. The bathroom is also far too small. The room door was faulty and could not be closed properly. The bed linen was filthy. The conclusion very unhygienic and not cheap.

Very average and basic but good price for what it is! Would recommend for people sight seeing and for people who won't spend a lot of time here as there are not many family friendly facilities. However there is free Wi-Fi and the breakfast is good.

Disappointing no, next. Huge and dirty Hotel. Tiny Bath. We were 3 person and stayed 4 nights where we never made the room. They didn't even change our towels! Arrive at 23:00 to the hotel busted to kick Berlin and Q do not have a towel pa give you a bath! Painful! I don't recommend it. Maybe only for groups of students who may give them a little more equal. The area is good is the only thing that saves you!

Alright for the price but rooms were not completely clean and check in took really long. We had problems with the lockers we put our luggage inside and they opened them for us without any big fuss even though it did take a while. Acceptable but would not be my first choice again.

I have stayed in questionable youth hostels and 5-star hotels alike, and this is the worst service I've ever experienced. Not worth the price and just barely meets the mark for a clean room. No temperature control/barely any ventilation. The front-desk staff are not only rude and shockingly unfriendly, but unable to do their job. We stayed here for 4 nights, and due to being in the room when housecleaning came, we requested the room cleaning to be done before leaving the hotel for the day. For 2 days in a row, we followed this procedure and received confirmation from the front desk in person, yet upon returning that evening it had not been cleaned. Because this left us without clean towels, we went down to request some, only to be talked down to by the front desk and given only one towel despite there being two of us. *Absolutely* not worth it — find an Airbnb instead.

Nice room and location near the Metro. The staff is completely indifferent to your requests and many of the services they offer (eg. Bar, kitchen etc. ) They are inefficient and poorly managed.

Its not a hotel! Its a cheap place to sleep and enjoy berlin. Its brilliant for young people who feel the same. Its clean just noisy, its a 'youth' hostel for a reason. Too many families and middle aged men were there.

Simple hotel/hostel located in good location near the many tourist places. Average price, small rooms but clean and with every need.

My stay was quite pleasant: room with private bathroom, sheets, pillow and duvet. Guests have access to many services such as 24h Bar, foosball, billiards, table tennis and many other pastimes. Also the staff are friendly and always available.

Bad Service. Terrible Room Service. Location fine, not more. No option to store you suitcase for free, you have to rent a locker and they are constantly full. No towel replacment. Really small showers. I had a great time.

Very good location and cheap. However, the room was quite dirty and we had problems with the key cards trying to enter the room. The service at reception is very slow with only a few staff so you can be made to wait for a long time.

Wonderful place for group. Only downside problem with main entrance. Great breakfast.

Good value for money — it was hot and we slept the window open and were embarrassed by the outside rough overnight (guests returning to the hotel) — but I will gladly come back!

The evening food was terrible, pasta burned, blue cordon expired. Really disappointed. Only breakfast was decent.

About how it must be cleanliness OK, double bed and bunk bed in the family room, price OK, the volume, the guests are checkin blame (24hrs).

The decor is absolutely inadequate and badly, missing essential things such as coat hooks, toilet bucket, vacuum cleaner or broom, etc. The clean upon arrival was rather superficial: from under the couch, on the cupboards, on the decoration etc. Merrily not so appetizing. Service virtually any available: for fresh toilet paper (arrival 5 sheets on the role and no substitute were there), we had to walk every time trash bags, and so on across the street to the reception in the main building. (The apartments are located in a normal House in the backyard on the opposite side of the road) Complaints were ignored for now. The staff was friendly mixed — arrived on it where they fell under. The profit maximization seems to stand in the foreground, the value for money is wrong and you feel not welcome! Shame about the holidays.

It avoids, to descend at this hotel! From the first up to the last minute, it was the pure horror! Bottom drawer was the competence of the staff. Hostel was booked for 2 nights. After the first night I was in Berlin 3 hours on the road and then back to the hostel and were removed from the very "knowledgeable" staff in the garbage bags out of my room all my stuff from my room. I was able to pick up my stuff at the reception. With the phrase "I have already wondered" was I by the Lady at the front desk "done".

Horror price 84 EUR per night, you're still not quite in the House, cash in advance, eternal waiting times at check-in, from the first minute on cheeky staff, breakfast similar to in the basement, for the price, you have concourses still own the table clean, and, and, and. Who finds any other accommodation, should use them, this "hotel", or should we say liebber flophouse, is to expect any.

Rude, shameless to the part of the staff, dirty rooms, used towels (unfortunately only after the use of notices), hair in bath and bed, the customer is certainly not King, I got a room that was already occupied, and where already people in the bed were working first and got not even an excuse to hear after already since the beginning of the arrival, the receptionists had placed an inappropriate dealing with guests on the day. Never again.

The A and O Hostel in Berlin is in a noisy location, because it is Zoo railway station. The rooms were not clean under the beds was dust. The beds were bunk beds, max. 8 cm thick were the Martratzen, a Sparnplatte has replaced the slatted frame. The security in the A and O hostel is very flawed, because the door cards (= key) you could get easily without Vohrlage of a card. The consequences were theft. The staff refused to call the police on the instruction of the Executive Board. Total score: Poor.
