Normally, I don't stay at hostel because I prefer value of hotel. This A&O claims to be the hotel but there is no air conditioner. Also, housekeeping opens your door before checking out time without permission. Receptionist and Cashier are the only things that were great there. They are professional.

The network of hostels aJO it's like a wand of a helper, quickly, close, accessible, in Germany qualitatively! Lots of young people! There's nothing extra in the room, but everything you have to eat. In the building where the renovation sat. We lived on the top floor, there was no elevator or we didn't find it. Breakfast is great, lots of things! children in their 3s. 5 e, adults over the 7th. Nearby is full of cafes and bars. Parking was busy, put the car next to, in a paid parking lot.

There was a renovation on my floor that no one warned about. Renting a bicycle requires a pledge of 50 euros.

Very well connected tram and s Bahn, but really East of Berlin. The reception is very nice. Young neighborhood with lots of restaurants. Breakfast a lot of choices. Price up but there are rooms for couples with bathroom. Regulation of the hotel which asks to respect the calm from 10pm. Street side rooms are very noisy when Windows are open at night; When it's very hot. Lack of air conditioning and ventilation.

Very cozy, friendly hostel. It is located in 150 m from the station OSTKRYTZ. Separate rooms with own shower and toilet. There is a café, a bar. In the immediate vicinity a lot of shops, cafes, confectionery. Within walking distance of Tretov Park, the shore of the spree; In three or four stops, the S-Bahn is located in Alexander Platz, Unter der Linden, the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag. The hostel has great Wi-fi. Excellent price-quality ratio.

The A & O Hotel is very well located as it is only 10 minutes from the Ostkreuz S-Bahn. The rooms are very spartan but clean and functional. The breakfast is delicious and the choice is very wide! And in the evening you can also drink cocktails well in the evening. The staff we met were all very friendly!

The hotel has a very nice location, but the service is simply terrible. One of our rooms had no water and bed linen was not available. In addition, there was a construction site in the hallway, so it was loud all day and smelled of color. Also, we only had three outlets for 7 people. I can only advise to choose this hostel.

The location is nearby at the East Cross and has good connections with the S-Bahn. The food is satisfactory, but a bit varied. The rooms are large and white up all the necessary standards. All in all, it is highly recommended.

I can only say … Top … you are right in a scene district with Bars/Cafes/pubs culinary treats are also available … Food store is also available around the corner … Hotel also great … Equipment is completely enough — Hello you are in Berlin … there is no time to waste … ÖPV is also close by … you are quickly in the action of Berlin … when I come back then but here …

Our stay was great! The Restaurants Close to the Hostel were cheap and parking was easy too! Pricing was okay and so was the room.

Beautifully centrally located almost directly at the East Cross. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. All clean and beautiful. Common for A & O. All Super.

Service was fine, the reason why not 5 stars is because of that they are working a lot on the building so it's not yet finished.

It was just filthy. The drain in the shower has stunk. Hair in the shower and on the bed. The duvets had yellow stains. Super disgusting. All Dusty and spider weaving on the ceiling. It's amazing how you can let guests in such a room. I'm really disappointed.

Dangerous, dirty and noisy. To advise against school trips. Electric wires that trimbalent everywhere, dust, less beds on arrival than reservation.
Staff too young to deal with the situation.
More bread or self-choice after 7:30 pm. Lunch basket A little too fair for young people of 14 — 15 years to avoid for school trips.

No alcohol allowed in the rooms. Angry staff. Wouldn't recommend to young visitors even though it's called a youth hostel. And we got woken up by construction workers playing loud music at eight in the morning. Area and location is nice though.

The first time we went to this hostel in Friedrichsain we occupied a double with bathroom, the cleanliness was correct, what I did not like is the reception. It is in the center of the courtyard and there is no communication system with them, at night if it happens or you need to contact, you have to Ataviarte to go outside and if it rains you get wet. Some receptionists don't try hard to understand you either.

A single catastrophe…
Everything dirty and unfriendly it is described so much in the description and it is not there. (e. G. Television in the room was described and there was no the rooms didn't even have a shower and toilet in the room… so there were only group showers.
We arrived and you noticed that they are not organized at all so was not registered at all.
Then came the only noise in the hallway and you have no rest.

Rooms: The rooms were not clean when upholstered. When we pointed out at the front desk, we were promised to clean the rooms, but nothing like that was done. The bed linen had yellow stains.
The hostel is currently being renovated, so the care of the old rooms is probably not worth much more.
Breakfast: The breakfast is perfect for this price range and sufficient.
Service: We have different experiences with the reception staff. A person became unwilling after we complained friendly.
Location: The hostel is located in the middle of Friedrichshain, close to the station Ostkreuz, from where you can reach all the destinations in Berlin well.

I stayed in an 8 bed dorm Plus Points Location is 'spot on' — 5 mins around the corner from Ostkreuz. I checked in at 12.10 am without any issues (24hr service) Staff were super friendly (spoke english) Facilities were acceptable i. E clean bed, bathrooms and showers clean. Attached restaurant and games room, next door is a 4 Euro Pizza / Pasta place. 24hr Bottle shop a couple of doors along and a Dutch Chip shop, Lidl and Bio supermarket all within a 2 minute radius. Internet, top quality and plenty of charging points Negative Points The place felt like a relic out of eastern European 1950's. I also had to cart my Lazy Ar*e up 4 flights of stairs. But Would I go back … YES (I'd probably take my sleeping bag as 3.5 euros a day bit expensive for a clean sheet and pillow)

Poor reception, no Wi-Fi given, room not cleaned, bathroom uncleaned, you are given rooms in a building in works, from the morning the workers work, a lot of noise, a lot of dust, staff not very pleasant, I do Not recommend this hostel.

The worst hostel I have ever seen. No reception, no staff… cleanliness leaves to be desired… To avoid!

The dirtiest bathrooms I've ever seen in a hostel. Non-existing cleaning service. Apart from that, Friedrichshain is a cool place, with plenty of original shops and nice restaurants. Besides, there's a commuter train station near the hostel that will take you straight to the city center.

One of the worse A&O hotels. Everything very dirty and come down. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are rather an imposition. Breakfast, as always in this hotel chain, simple but inexpensive. May be better in summer, because you are more than happy about the draught in the room.

The bed linen is filthy!
The bathroom is unclean and it hangs hair on the walls!
There is dust everywhere and the windows do not go up properly!
You have to get a permit at the reception to open the Windows!
You cannot use the elevator if you are not sick or cannot use a staircase!
The rooms look completely different in the photos than they are!
Toilet paper is also not renewed by the cleaning lady!

This hostel was okay, my room was clean and the staff was very nice and helpful. However, while I was there the men’s washrooms on my floor were being remodeled and out of service, which should have been my problem since I’m a woman. However, instead of going either upstairs or downstairs to use the correct facilities, a man walked in on me while I was showering. Though not entirely the hostels fault, I think they should have made an effort to make sure this doesn’t happen.

Surprisingly quiet location, which unfortunately did not help against the snoring neighbor. The bedding we had forgotten to reserve online. Because we were there for the first time, the friendly man at the reception gave us the fee. An overall positive experience!

Old 69 and 71 were all very friendly.
Interesting location, a lively area, but you can quickly get there by public transport everywhere.

Price/performance just great. For us pensioners-couple something "youthful loud" and alive — but that didn't bother us any further. Those who expect the comfort of the Hilton for the price of hostel, for that is nothing. But everything there, all clean — gladly again!

This is one of those cases where you get what you paid for. I stayed in an 8 bed room for three nights and paid 12€ per night. So even though there were not outlets by every bed or that I had to go down a flight of stairs to get to the bathrooms, I was still happy. The reason some of the bathrooms are closed for now is that they are renovating them, and they seem to be renovating a good portion of the rooms as well, so the hostel will probably be nicer in the future. Overall though, fine value for the great price and phenomenal location.

So we were on site for a short visit and were fully satisfied. Price —/power fits. Service always nice and friendly and our room was clean and accessible by elevator.

Cheap. That's the main advantage. The breakfast they offer is expensive, the building is old and the heating system sometimes makes a lot of noise, but the attention is very good and stays clean. The kitchen is functional but I found it practically deprived of basic kitchen elements. There's a little piece of the Berlin Wall in the yard, don't miss it.

Everything was so good. Fortunate enough to check in and out without crowd. Clean room, tidy beds, well maintained toilets plus very helping and smiling staff to help. It was a rememberable stay.

Cheap hostel, really great location, close to many clubs, restaurants and bars, Lidl around the corner. The metro station is 5 minutes away, you can reach all of Berlin comfortably. However, the room is not particularly well cared for, the kitchen is unhinged almost everything and is constantly dirty, the cleaning in general is very poor (in a week we saw the floor without crap only once), in the rooms of 8 turns very little air even with the windows open and in the corridors there was a constant but slight smell of rotten. If you only need a cheap roof over your head — and you're counting on staying in the hostel only and exclusively for sleeping — it's acceptable, but nothing more.
Maybe we just had loser though.

This is the worst "hostel" I've been to. The bathrooms are not mixed but it is not respected, there is no kitchen available or a common room. People smoke in the rooms. And given the size of the corridors there is a lot of passage and therefore of buit, cries…

I come over often when I need a place to stay near the Ostkreuz, it is a simple hostel which is for the price but perfectly clear. This is currently being built but you are only here at night if not built. I'll come back!

Very close to the train station, lots of restaurants and markets, clean rooms with nice space for 4 guests, big bathroom the hotel crew are very efficient and kind, really enjoyed our stay, very nice deal.

Double room with breakfast positive: The change from 6th floor to the 1st floor at all no problem, staff colourfully mixed and very friendly rooms: very basic, no closet, mattresses quite soft and well located but overall clean breakfast: was very disappointing, Very simple and for €6 just not worth it.

It is a nice quiet Hostel to sleep in as the rooms are inside the courtyard. There is a kitchen with a fridge and everything you need to cook. The place has Bar, with a day of the week with Karaoke. They charge you 3, €50 (in total, to part, stay). For the sheets. What they have to fix is the issue of the access cards to the rooms and kitchen, they always fail. The room was clean and the bathroom was very good. The Wi-Fi is a good sign and free. The location is good, surrounded by restaurants, supermarkets, cafes and minutes from the S Bahn of Ostkreus.

The rooms are quite small and simple. But to stay right there and for the price it is quite okay. The breakfast in hotel good with great choice.

Prima. In the midst of life. Short distances to the Ostkreuz-BHF. We actually had to book two houses, this has changed the service great. So we didn't need to move… Keep it up.

Fulfill what he promises. I give 4 stars for the relation price quality. There is kitchen (with the most basic) but it is tiny and has no refrigerator. Bathrooms pretty good. Clean. In a somewhat old building. Staff stood out for their kindness. Karaoke on Thursdays, outdoor activities, pool… not bad. Rooms (dorm 6 people) spacious for the average. Good location as far as places to eat. Two cheap supermarkets nearby.
Cupboards in the rooms. Enough for a medium backpack and a little more.
They offer several services. You can pay for everything with card.

Great hostel. We stayed in a private room for two people with bathroom in the room. The room was very clean ES offered the courtesy set. Good location, in 20 minutes you reach the centre of Berlin by Metro. The restaurants are a 10-minute walk or a 5-minute bus drive away.

It's a do it yourself hotel/hostel. At arrival we had to put the sheet covers etc on ourselfs. The beds itself are decent. The hotel doesn't provide towels for large groups (8 per room). You have to be silent at 10 pm. So if you are a loud drunk and plan on staying out late this is not the hotel/hostel for you. Alcohol in the room isn't premitted and if caught with alcohol they take your alcohol. The staff at the reception are very helpfull.

Very friendly staff, very good value for money, good breakfast but without any special features like fried bacon…, very good for school trips, some rooms are too small for 4 people but all rooms had toilet and shower. Extra shower on the corridors, the city centre is very well reached by the S-Bahn. There are many inexpensive food options nearby. There is also a volleyball field small.

I've really felt comfortable during my stay here. The place is always clean and anything I've asked at reception has been answered for me. It's also in a great area with everything in walking distance.

Quite average and a more than a tad impersonal. Good for undiscerning youngsters but that's all. Great neighborhood though, easy access to transport.

Nice neighborhood, clean bathrooms and showers. Small kitchen and frequented by zozzoni thieves, comfortable beds and bright rooms. In nine days of overnight they had come one time to do the cleaning. They just emptied the trash twice and cleaned the glasses one. Young and inexperienced Reception.

It's a youth hotel, so everything is rather medium. The beds are not too comfortiable, and the same god for the rest of the hotel. Nice staff, and an okay morning buffet. The location is good, it is in the middel of the city and you can walk for 5min. And you'll reach a train station.

Absolutely atrocious. Out of 67 hostels I have stayed at, A&O is the second worst one. > reception did not make it clear you have to purchase bed linens > I came in the room, saw everyone sleeping without linens and sheets, so assumed that's how its supposed to be. I was disgusted when I found out it wasn't. (no wonder the blankets stunk as hell) > Washroom on my floor was out of order, and others were disgustingly dirty > I found poop all over the seat in one of them, and a homeless bum sleeping in another washroom stall on the floor > Impolite reception staff, I got stared down when I asked for "water off a tap" > Good Wi-Fi in the lobby — and okay location — the only two things keeping this hostel from being the worst of worst.

Nice and fast home, room with twin beds clear, clean and quiet. Good value.

The hostel/shared bedrooms area is not very nice. Anybody can see you naked when you shower as the shower doors are transparent. It's okay if you have a room with a private bathroom. The location is good.

Very good value for money: clean and spacious room, functional bathroom, hearty breakfast. Top location.

It's one of those big hostels (obviously, it's a chain). The rooms were nice, location is good with plenty of little shops and cafes and good public transport options around. Showers relatively clean. The plugs in the room were really stupidly placed though and their system of checking in was just dumb, we had to wait for at least half an hour. Nothing to really complain about though, overall a good experience.

Nice Hotel also the area only flaws the staff not sympathetic.

Big disappointment, probably one of the worst places I have been able to stay in my life (and I travel a lot). First of all a welcome more than unpleasant that will bring you no information and no help in case of problems, a just non-existent security: Other customers have access to your room (and customers do not even talk about it, drugged or drunk) and for Finish a clean more than neglected! If you don't get sick from this place you're lucky. In short, in all honesty, to avoid to have a good stay.

Cold reception, non-competent staff. The rooms are small with a security more than scandalous (we had twice the Russians totally unknown who are coming into our rooms at night) really disappointed no relation with the photos of the site it is like in a 20th century asylum. Way too expensive for what it is. I expected to be with other young people in the hostel but nothing to see there were only Junki and old Poles totally drunk (we were there in New year)
Only positive, very well served by public transport.

On school trip here and we have found a room that meets the price, by far. The bathroom is not clean, in the ventilation of the shower head not evenly located (very healthy? ) mold, and it is a sticker available which States that you have to clean the room every day. In addition, the beds are decrepit, the varnish has peeled off part and the walls are dirty. Overall the room should be improved urgently.

Worst A & O in which I've ever been. Rarely so miserable slept like there. After all, my remote through mattress on my request was replaced without discussion.
Otherwise all beds quitscht and creaks, road noise, construction work in the hallway (March ' 16). All the walls are thin. Some only deer plaster walls.
No lift or for staff only. Up to four floors with quite high levels.

We were in a family room (Hostel) with 2 children and we were very satisfied, everything was clean, the bed linen was without defects, the only shortcoming was the door, which was not easy to. Friendly staff, safe at the reception and a very good location with plenty of bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood.

Class! Again and again. Location in the neighbourhood of Friedrichshain. Good breakfast and Nice staff. Just adequate for the price.

Single room costs €62 just far too expensive. You could go in sauna as well, since you can pay five and forty euros for sauna, then spending 24 hours. I would not even go in this hostel. There I go city to the Apollo sauna at the Zoological Garden. How can it be €62 costs the a night, and breakfast is not time. Even this star me is hard to Miss I want to be no mean. (To never see you again)
