Fully satisfied with super friendly fast service, delicious food of high quality ingredients, perfect not very touristic location with charming quiet atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Large, clean comfortable room. Large bathroom with wash claths! Beverage refrigerator. No A/C. Excellent service and attentive staff. Excellent breakfast buffet and service. Spent an evening on the roof terrace, though it does not afford great views. We were on the second floor, and we did have some noise from the street below. But earplugs helped with that. Located at opposite end of island from the train station on the island. Rolled our luggage quite a way on cobblestones. Looks like bus 5 will get you from the Lindau Insel train station to very close to hotel.

We only ate here but the place was a beautiful establishment and the waitress was awesome. The service was outstanding for the party of 8. I had the Mixed Grill meal that came with pork, grilled chicken and bacon and some French Fries. My wife had Schnitzel and fries and the guy next me had Labercase and bratwurst. My daughter had the mixed grill as well and Crème Brule for dessert. Overall this was a great experience and I definitely recommend eating here!

This place probably saved our lives. We landed in frankfurt with zero knowledge of where we were going. By pure accident, we picked Lindau, and by pure miracle we found the Alte Post. We made a reservation online and got on the train.
We were very warmly greeted at the hotel which conveniently has a restaurant on the ground floor. They asked if we would be dining with them because we would need a reservation. After a quick review of our surroundings, we gratefully agreed and set a time. We returned at the agreed to time and once again was warmly accepted into the warm and cozy dining area.
The menu was fairly extensive with a good wine selection to pair with the courses. The wonderful ladies that took care of us that night was so helpful in guiding us through the wines and dishes. The food was excellent. So fresh, carefully prepared, and very well presented. The other diners appeared to be more local than tourists, and we even had our own little dog watching us eat from an other table.
Our room was on the 1st floor and I don't believe there was an elevator. The room was spotlessly clean and well appointed with some refreshments and utensils. We were even able to take a wine bucket upstairs to cap off the night. The hotel is very quiet and away from any real traffic.
We had the best time at the Alte Post and would definitely stay there any time we are in or near Lindau. Many, many thanks to the family that made us feel so welcome.

Described to us as “best in Lindau” before we went. Philip was an awesome waiter, very attentive, personable. No English menu but very helpful with recommendations and translations. Food was so good we came back 2 days later. Sat inside and outside; both great. Madagascar pork and the Hawaiian chicken were delicious. Recommend reservations.

Very good restaurant!
We were stuck in the rain and decided to check out this hotel /restaurant which used to be a post office. The lady was nice enough to found a limited time spot to sit us on a full booked busy Sunday night.
We ordered veal sniztle, very nice and tender, full of flavor! The boiled potato was good as well! Secondly we ordered inland fish, very soft however well fried as one piece, the toasted almond on top was nice and crunchy! Portions are big as well! Not on the economic side, but feel worth it. Quite happy to have made this choice!

"Down-to-earth Location, in particular in the outdoor area, a great "market-place atmosphere". The kitchen has convinced of! The Service was very good. I'll be back!
