Hotel-Gasthof Opel Bed & Breakfast in Q&A

Information is provided based on reviews and may contain inaccuracies.

How is Hotel-Gasthof Opel situated, and what is located nearby?

The hotel is conveniently situated in a picturesque location by the Red Main (Roter Main) river, adjacent to natural meadows. Transport accessibility is rated as excellent: a bus stop is located virtually right outside the door, making trips to Bayreuth very convenient. Additionally, the hotel is close to the "Green Hill" (Grüner Hügel), which can be reached in five minutes by car or in about an hour on foot across summer fields.

Does the hotel have its own parking?

Yes, Hotel-Gasthof Opel offers parking located in the hotel's rear courtyard.

How polite is the staff, and how does check-in work?

Guest opinions about the staff are mixed. Many describe the welcome as very warm, personal, and family-like, highlighting the hostess's attentiveness and readiness to assist even during late arrivals caused by traffic. However, there has also been an extremely negative experience: one guest reported speaking with a very unfriendly and abrupt staff member during a telephone inquiry.

What kind of breakfast does the hotel offer, and how is its quality?

The hotel offers a full breakfast that many guests describe as "top-tier" and varied, particularly highlighting the homemade jams. During the pandemic, a pre-order system was introduced instead of a buffet to comply with hygiene standards. Overall, the breakfast is rated positively, although one guest noted that the quality could have been slightly higher.

What type of cuisine is served at the hotel's restaurant?

The hotel offers authentic and delicious traditional Franconian cuisine prepared with fresh regional produce and herbs from its own garden. Guests praise the casseroles and specifically note the delicious sauerbraten. The hotel features a cozy dining room and a lovely beer garden where guests can enjoy food and drinks.

What is the condition of the rooms and furniture?

The rooms are described as clean, cozy, and spacious, although the building itself is historic and listed as a heritage-protected landmark. The interiors are tastefully decorated, but some guests noticed that the renovations appear somewhat unprofessional, leaving the furniture looking worn in places. The bathrooms are characterized as large and clean.

How does the heating system in the rooms work?

The reviews mention an issue with the room temperature: one guest reported that the room was very cold and took a very long time to heat up.

What is the overall atmosphere at the hotel?

Hotel-Gasthof Opel boasts a calm, family-friendly, and traditional atmosphere, which pleasantly sets it apart from chain hotels. It is a cozy country inn with a special charm, ideal for those seeking peace and tranquility.
