Music, literature, chess tradition and fly fishing — a culturally and historically important place to relax we visit the legendary Powder Mill regularly during the festival season of Bayreuth. The Festival house is easy to reach from here (about 30 km) and the location, the quality of the rooms as well as the service make the guesthouse for us an ideal place to relax before and after the performances. The open-minded and friendly manner with which Michael Fink, the head of the house, and his team meet the guests, guarantees a lasting recreational effect and awakens anticipation for the next year's visit – with or without festival tickets. We can well understand that the participants of the Festival ensemble also appreciate the powder mill and prepare for their performances in the tranquillity of the Franconian Switzerland.
In addition, the pension is a historically important place: for literary enthusiasts it should be interesting that "group 47" had met here several times – for the last time in October 2017.
Friends of the chess game in turn will find it exciting to be informed on the spot by Michael Fink or by the information brochures on the long-standing chess tradition of the house. The international chess World went on and off here. One of the highlights for the powder mill was that even the world champion Bobby Fischer had hidden in this hospitable domicile for a few weeks.

Fantastic single location right next to the Wiesent. Very large plot with numerous idyllic seating, trampoline and small football field. The rooms are modern renovated and lovingly furnished. Great service, Good Franconian beers, an ideal place for active holidays or simply relaxing in the heart of the Franconian Switzerland. We have booked the complete hotel for a celebration, thanks to the dedication of Michael Fink, the owner, for all our guests an unforgettable experience!

We spent this year's family meeting in the powder mill. Our family is not exactly the simplest, all personality structures are represented — yet none of us was disappointed! It started with uncomplicated reception. All rooms are very tasteful with a mix of old (e. G. The old farmhouse beds and cupboards) and new (great renovated baths) set up. We really liked the many details that make life easier, e. G. The lint roll in the room, water and coffee in the room and much more. The breakfast was good and plentiful, the booked BBQ too! The property is huge and great for children. There is a lot of toys (Kettcars, sandbox, trampoline), animals (guinea pigs and hares) and lots of cuddly seating. The property is directly adjacent to the Wiesent, including a kayak entry point. Mr. Fink, his son and the breakfast/cleaning lady were always cordial, friendly and accommodating. I am sure that one day you will have a great time out again!

Absolute recommendation. The location of the powder mill is optimal and the team takes care of its guests exemplary. Soon it is again so far, Uschi & Co. Back on!

Good breakfast, comfortable beds. For children many possibilities, like the sandbox, the soccer field, slipping / climbing tower, basketball hoop, etc.

We lack a star powder mill just to rate this hotel, the variety of activities offered by the powder mill is super come large and small on their cost, as were the 14 days vacation too short so we have booked for this year for 3 weeks to can all enjoy. You feel just like at home

Top location and direct at a small river. Relaxed and cosy atmosphere, excellent beer, friendly staff! Explored that special place in summer last year and booked a room right for next short trip in october. Thanks "pulvermühle" for that special weekend. Room with riverview and balcony, bath, xxl TV — just amazing and new and clean — felt at home rightaway. BBQ and later at the fireplace with johnny cash music in the background hahaha we will remember in best mood. That small resort has our 100% perfect seal. See ya again soon — Christiana & Phat.
