Guest House Knarik

Knarik (the owner) and her husband live there with two friendly dogs. Comfortable, but basic rooms, and they made us a feast for dinner — absolutely delicious. Great experience — would recommend to anyone passing through on their way to Mestia.

Knarik and her husband Gurame were excellent hosts. My friends and I were well taken care of here, and their neighbour Sandro who spoke excellent English came to have dinner with us too. Knarik is an amazing cook and we were so so well fed. In total, a room with 3 beds + dinner + breakfast for 3 cost 140GEL. The room was really cute and the shower had hot water.
This is a homestay right in the couple's house and the price is very fair, we felt welcomed into the family and had a great time with them. The toilet is a 10 meters walk away from the room through a little patch of soil along their plants. It was very clean. I would definitely come back if I had the chance.

We are tourists “without pretensions, ” but this option, of course, is not for everyone. “Rooms”, that is, rooms, without locks, with old beds and the same linen. The toilet is on the street, and you need to go to it (and also know how), a quest at night in the dark.
Shower? No, we didn’t hear, although it seems to exist: the hostess didn’t tell us about it, and at the moment when we should have asked, we were completely overwhelmed by grandpa’s homemade wine: I really don’t recommend drinking it, no matter how much the owners persuade you. We drank about 1.5 liters of this potion between four of us (that is, actually 2 glasses each), and after an hour we had no time for a shower or anything else: I never thought that it was possible to run barefoot half the night call Ichthyander to the first bushes you come across (to simply vomit), forgetting about decency and mentally approaching the morning in order to quickly get out. There is no soul, or maybe there is, but somewhere in the master’s house. Washbasin, respectively, too.
In the morning we woke up and didn’t have breakfast, because the goal was to quickly go find the first mountain river we came across suitable for swimming, in order to at least wash ourselves and swim: we drank instant coffee and hit the road.

We stayed here one night after reading the other glowing reviews. We booked in advance on booking. Com for a price of 27 lari.
When we arrived the old lady offered us some food. We sat down at the table and she offered us some salad and potatoes. Then she brought some wine and told us it was a gift.
She asked us to fix the curtains in the room which we did to be polite, see attached photo.
The next morning she was suddenly very angry that we paid the actual price of the listing, calling us bad people and asking for 100 lari.
At no time did she mention that there was a cost associated with the meal and she kept telling us to drink more wine which we did out of politeness. She also asked us 20 lari extra for breakfast, which is shown as "free" on this Google page.
Finally she sent my girlfriend a nasty message later in the day.
The rooms had no air conditioner and the toilet is a long dark walk, and has no associated tap. The shower was cold.
Finally we paid 45 lari (all we had on us), just to escape this bad personality of the woman.
In short, avoid this place. Unfriendly people who dig at you for money when you leave.

But incredibly delicious food (dinner and breakfast, made to order) and homemade wine. Homemade chacha is treacherous, but good) )
The store next door is half empty, buy everything you need in advance.

As it is written in every review, we were fed soup upon arrival and given wine and chacha to drink. It’s very authentic to stay in a Georgian family on the one hand, but on the other hand it’s an old house with its own smell, the toilet is on the street, although the toilet is normal, but you have to walk through the entire garden, there is no hot water in the shower, so you couldn’t wash yourself in the morning, boiled for breakfast eggs and bread and butter. But this is all fine, but the fact that the price does not correspond to what was stated on the booking is simply a surprise of the highest degree, although the price is not high, but this is a matter of the principle of working on the platform, who told them to do this, I wonder? Overall we spent the night and moved on, but wouldn’t stay there again.

Pros: Kind, hospitable hostess, parking, hot water.
Cons: everything else. The toilet at the end of the garden has no light (but there is a flush toilet there, but there is a window without glass overlooking the garden). Shower in the owners' house (not renovated, everything is in poor condition). On the second floor, where we were accommodated, there are two Soviet beds with armored mesh (they press through and you sleep as if in a hammock, you had to move the bed to the next bed. The door has no lock. For breakfast for 5 GEL there are cold burnt scrambled eggs and scary-looking sausages (I haven’t tried it, sorry). Saved by tea bags and a loaf of butter and jam.

Meeting Knarik and family was one of the best experiences on my visit to Georgia. They made the tastiest food I have ever tasted.
