Villa Mitirapa is a magical place. My wife and I stayed there for 3 nights during our honeymoon in French Polynesia, and while each of the places we stayed was amazing, Villa Mitirapa will always have a special place in our hearts thanks to the beautiful location on a lagoon, the excellent and clean facilities, and the wonderful hospitality of Vaite Vivish (the owner). When we first arrived, Vaite greeted us with 2 gigantic fresh coconuts, cut open so we could drink the sweet juice inside — the coconuts were so big it took us 3 days to finish all the juice! And then she invited us into her home the next day to learn how to make poisson cru, a local dish that is raw tuna with coconut milk, lime juice, and fresh vegetables — she showed us the entire process, from scraping the inside of the coconut, to squeezing the shaved coconut to get coconut milk, to soaking the fish in salt water, to mixing it all together. The result was so delicious! And we got to each lunch with and meet her entire family, which was really special. The setting is beautiful — with a lagoon at your back door, you can go kayaking or swimming during the day and watch the sun set over the water and mountains in the evening. The location is also really convenient, right at the junction between Tahiti Nui (the larger/NW half of Tahiti) and Tahiti Iti (the smaller/SE half of Tahiti), with places to eat and shop nearby and easy access to many beautiful sights up and down both coasts of Tahiti.
