Wonderful stay. Quiet and peaceful. Brigitte and Philibert were exceptional hosts, warm and friendly. Very good three course dinner and great breakfast. Highly recommend.

Stunning chateaux filled with history and elegance. Our hosts were warm and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious dinner which was accompanied by lovely wines. Definitely recommend this place as a stopover or a destination for exploring the area.

I stumbled upon this place completely by chance. After a long-overdue visit to friends in Villeréal, I was heading home when the engine light on my car suddenly came on. Late on a Saturday night, I decided not to risk it. A quick Google search for nearby hotels led me here.
Driving down a quiet country lane, I eventually arrived at the grand wrought-iron gates of a beautiful château. The place exudes history and elegance. There’s no formal reception desk—just a warm, authentic welcome. I was greeted by the owner, sitting in what looked like his family’s drawing room, a huge jigsaw puzzle spread out before him and his dog dozing on the rug. My French is embarrassingly bad, but he kindly switched to English, and soon his wife Brigitte appeared with a smile and the good news: they had one room left.
The room on the second floor was charming, full of character. I even discovered a hidden door that led up a wooden spiral staircase to a turret room above—magical! Throughout the house, every detail whispers heritage, from the décor to the old photographs, including one of Philibert’s grandfather, who served in the French Air Force.
Dinner was an unexpected delight—cooked by Brigitte herself. Perfectly roasted lamb, fresh green beans, and a unique bean dish that tasted like baked beans without the sauce. The family’s own wine from the southwest of France was the perfect companion to the meal—rich, smooth, and full of character.

We had such a lovely time in our brief stopover at this gorgeous bed and breakfast. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and spoke excellent English. It’s a beautiful, tranquil stop — perfect for a relaxing evening. It’s easy to access from the motorway so a perfect stopover if you’re visiting the south of France from the UK or returning home.
We booked the evening meal option which was a lovely treat! We enjoyed a three course home cooked meal out in the garden accompanied by great local wines. The food was delicious — as was the wine! And very good value too!
There’s a lovely pool and a garden to walk around and it’s very quiet as it’s in a small little hamlet off the beaten track.
We stayed in the rose room on the second floor up the spiral staircase in the turret which was very comfortable with lovely bed linen.
There was an extensive breakfast with eggs, cold meats and cheeses, croissants, bread, yoghurts, home made jams and a chocolate cake!
You can park your car in the gated garden outside the house so it’s nice and safe.
A lovely trip — I’d happily return!

We had a marvellous stop over en route between Spain and UK — a very warm welcome from our hosts and a much needed swim followed by a delicious home cooked dinner in the Chateau’s dining room, cooked and served by the extended family.
Comfortable beds and perfect breakfast before heading north to Calais.
Strongly recommend a visit.

Room was spacious. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was buffet style offering egg (s) of your choice with baguette, croissant, cake, yogurt, ham, butter/jam/honey and juice/coffee/tea/chocolate/milk.
Dinner was an add-on. Homemade cuisine.

My wife and I had the great pleasure of staying yesterday at this exceptional B&B near Chateauroux in France for an overnight stop. The house, a classical chateau from the 19th century, is extremely beautiful, as are the garden and park surrounding it. The French owners, Mr and Mrs d'Ussel, are charming, friendly and welcoming. They are talented cooks and wine experts and run their establishment in the best Swiss hotelier tradition. An elegant dining room, where guests enjoy delicious French cuisine and wine from the owners' AOC classified vineyard in the Languedoc, is set with crystal, porcelain and damask table cloth and napkins. The bedroom we had (a junior suite) was equally well furnished and equipped with a comfortable bed, fine bed linen and ensuite bathroom of a high standard.
All in all, we were exceptionally impressed by our stay at l'Abeaupiniere. Indeed, having stayed at many exclusive hotels over the years, we can firmly state that we have seldom, if ever, encountered such hospitality, attention to detail and concern for the comfort and satisfaction of their guests, as we did yesterday in the shape of the d'Ussels.
We warmly recommend their lovely B&B to anyone looking for a truly special place to stay in their region of France.

We were made to feel very welcome. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The food was delicious. We were only sorry that we could only stay one night.

A perfect location for an overnight stay close to the A20 — 250 km south of Paris.
Very nice B&B in a green environment. Only a few km"s from the highway. Very warm welcome from Philibert & Brigitte. Very nice breakfast with enough choices. We had a fabulous dinner prepared by our hosts (very recommendable for a very fair price). Swimming pool in the garden. Good wines available (also on sale) of the family estate near Narbonne.
One gentle warning : due to the historic nature of the buidling, there is no elevator for the rooms on the first an second floor.
