The People - Lille Hostel

Gastama is up there with the best hotels I've stayed at. Alexandra was at reception to offer a friendly welcome and check-in (which was appreciated after my drive from Lyon). She was also happy to offer some great recommendations for visiting the city. Location is excellent and in a great area to explore the excellent bars and restaurants. It took me about 20-25 mins to walk to Beaux Arts and Gare Saint Sauveur. The Gastama bar has great beers, friendly staff and superb prices if you're staying at the hostel! Good atmosphere too and has a perfect mix of locals and backpackers. The rooms are modern and the dorm beds offer privacy with curtains. A perfect place to stay in an great city :)

The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room was very clean and the bathroom was clean.
The only downside is the music broadcast in the dining room during breakfast.
I had asked that the sound be lowered (even slightly) but in vain.
It is not the presence of a musical background that is disturbing but the content of this music (not) RESTful and this from 7. Thirty o'clock.

Not bad! The mojitos are very good!

What can I say. Brilliant staff. Clean. Kitchen is a bonus If in town again i. L be staying here.

Really a youth hostel apart!
It's modern.
It's fresh.
It's clean.
The atmosphere is really relaxed. It is warm as we know how to do it in Lille and even a notch above.
The bar and its terrace are really top.
Room level we had 3 dorm rooms with private bathrooms and toilets. It was clean and really decent level comfort.
The common sanitary facilities were also very clean.
The breakfast we took the cheapest formula and it was quite enough!
The staff is the icing on the cake.
The hostel is more conveniently located.
I would definitely go back.

I was here in end of July of 2017 with my friend. Beautiful hostel with nice rooms! The beds were very comfortable and gave us a sort of private life, while in a room with many. It has a nice bar with a pleasant selection of Belgian, French and other European beers. Easy to find when you are in Lille, in a nice street. The only drawbacks are the price and the kitchen equipment. A little expensive to stay in summer and not so cheap beers in the bar. The kitchen did not have chef knifes nor appropriate pots and pans to the magnetic induction cook-top.

Gastama hostel is definitely the best place to stay in Lille. It has great dormitories which are pretty clean. The bar and restaurant there is excellent. And also a great place to hang out. The welcome drink for the in house guests gives us the opportunity to socialise with our hostel mates and have great conversations. Would highly recommend this place.

A place I would recommend without any hesitation!
Very nice staff and nice family room with a common area to cook friendly.
I was able to enjoy when I arrived from a welcome jar in a colorful and musically interesting bar. ^^ I went there with my son from 11months and it was a nice stay.

Nice hostel with a nice setting.
A bar on the ground floor accessible to all offers preferential rates if you are staying in the structure.
The neighborhood is pretty nice and not too far from the Center even on foot.

Nice enough hostel, despite the bar it didn't seem like an easy place to meet people (in English). My bed locker wouldn't stay open and the light didn't work but the showers are warm.

Very bad experience since the establishment refused at 9.30 pm to welcome me, due to the forgetting of my passport. They refused to let me present a picture of this Passport on my phone. I had to sleep on the street like a dog in the middle of winter.

Nice place to have a drink, good music. Too bad it closes at midnight we would stay much longer:-)

Very well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. For The partiers there is a bar downstairs to socialise. The noise does not affect the rooms. Great.

My stay at Gastama was fun! There are a lot of young people and in the evening and night there is music in the bar area where you enter. Saturday night we arrived around 6 am and the host gave us water which was very kind. Rooms were spacious and tidy, however the beds were shaking like crazy whenever 1 of the 4 people moved (the 2 bunkbeds were attached to each other). I would really recommend attaching them to the wall so they become more sturdy.

The gastama is a very nice hostel, redone to new very recently in the middle of old Lille, essential even for a coffee!

Great place to stay in Lille, although I was only here for a night. Good bar activities like poker and darts, great friendly staff and clean rooms. A little less than 10 minutes from city center by foot, totally recommended!

Staff was helpful and nice. Kitchen/lounge area was great. The rooms were clean and had a lot of space. The showers felt a like they could have been cleaned better. Overall a great experience.

If you are in a week, you've had a good morning, and you're in the mood to eat light because at this point, need to know how to take care of you. And BIM, while you intended to take a small salad asked, here is that they will offer a Welsh, and the choices that you may have, it is conventional bread or gingerbread. Goodbye to the day job, and prepares you for a nap well deserved. The prices are really interesting, and they love it when you pass a little bit of wire before sticking around to eat!

The place is based in the old town. Everything about the hostel was amazing! Bar, rooms, everything. Definitely coming back!

Located near the Citadel de Lille but a bit far from the city centre. The room is spacious and has curtains and plugs in each bunk beds. Not many showers but I didn't run until any issues waiting for one.

Bar super nice with a good atmosphere. Pretty girls will not bother for the heavy bonkers! We spend very good evenings.

Nice hostel. It is indeed clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Often they organise poker evenings. Not really into the centre but not even far (15 mins walk), quite close to the citadelle and it's park.

Every hostel experience should be like this. I only would have liked breakfast included.
