This is a perfect place to stay in Bayeux! It’s a beautiful property, with very clean rooms, and comfortable beds. The staff made us feel like family. My mom enjoyed a glass of champagne each evening in the sitting room — it was a wonderful way to end a busy day of sightseeing! Most of the attractions are within walking distance of this hotel. We also really enjoyed Gloria — the resident pup!

We stayed here on the third night of our four-night motorbike trip through France, and it was such a lovely stopover. The house has been wonderfully renovated and is full of character. The breakfast area was especially beautiful, with stunning tapestries on the walls that added to the charm and atmosphere.
The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and kindly recommended a lovely place just around the corner for dinner, which we really enjoyed. Gloria, the resident dog (secretly the main reason we booked! ), was an absolute delight—so happy and friendly.
The location is excellent, close to all the shops, restaurants, and bars, yet still peaceful and relaxing. Private parking at the back of the house inside the barn was a huge bonus and felt very safe for our motorbike.
Our accommodation was in a separate area next to the main house. The only slight downside was that the view overlooked the back area with some bins, so it wasn’t quite as pretty as the rest of the property—but as we were only staying one night, it really wasn’t a big issue.
Breakfast was delicious, with breads, cheeses, meats, fruit, yoghurt, and more. Best of all were the big cups for a proper brew—not the tiny teacups you constantly have to refill! We also overlooked the beautifully tended garden, which made the whole morning feel peaceful and relaxing.
Don’t hesitate to stay here—it’s a wonderful place.

This is the perfect hotel in Bayeux. It is a short 10 minute walk to the Cathedral and downtown area. It has old world elegance downstairs with tapestries on the wall and chandeliers. The garden in the back is beautiful and relaxing. There is a full breakfast that we also enjoyed. The staff is all friendly and very helpful, including Gloria the dog. The room has a modern bathroom. It is an excellent value for the price.

We stayed at this hotel in October last year as part of our road trip to the Loire Valley. The property is truly stunning, resembling a small château discreetly tucked away from the main street in Bayeux. Rich in history, the hotel retains many beautiful period features, particularly in the guest rooms, which add greatly to its character.
The rooms were very quiet, and we had a wonderful nights sleep.
The hotel staff were exceptionally helpful and welcoming, and communication was easy despite our limited French. Adding to the hotel’s charm was a delightful small dog who happily followed guests around.
In the evening we went for a walk into the centre of Bayeux which was around a 10 minute walk where there were plenty of places to eat and drink if you wanted to go exploring into the town instead.
Breakfast the following morning was thoroughly enjoyable, with a wide and varied selection available. As we were travelling in a classic car, we also greatly appreciated the secure off-road parking provided in the inner courtyard, which offered both convenience and peace of mind.

Our family spent a great night here. Every staff is very kind and helpful. Gloria, the hotel's superstar, was also greeting us warmly ❤️ The room is clean and sweet. The breakfast was great. You can fully experience the charm of this 300-year-old architecture. It is also very close to the restaurant street. Though we visited in winter but still enjoyed the heartwarming stay here, and look forward to revisiting again in the summertime❤️

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel d' Argouges on our visit to Normandy. The staff was friendly and welcoming, our room was gorgeous, and you are literally minutes from the D-Day beaches by car. Bayeux is a beautiful town with great restaurants and attractions. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

It’s my first time in France. I spent a few days prior to coming to Bayeux in Paris. The small town is absolutely stunning. Quiet, calm, old feeling and very peaceful. The Hotel D’Argouges is so beautiful. Older building with all the modern comforts. It’s Autumn and the garden is still thriving with greenery and a few roses linger. The Hotel has a wonderfully helpful staff. Most of the staff I have encountered speak English. Which helps because my French is much worst than I thought. They have a breakfast offering in the morning that is delicious. The coffee was delightful. My room and bathroom are immaculate. I am very pleased with my stay so far…

We had a very nice stay at this beautiful historic hotel in downtown Bayeaux. Staff was friendly and all spoke fluent English, so we had no problems communicating with anyone. The official staff greeter, Gloria the beagle, was a highlight for us.
The breakfast in the morning was very good and served a mix of hot and cold items.
Location is central to the main downtown street in Bayeaux and we were able to walk to all destinations, including the tour bus pickup location as well as local restaurants.
Rooms retain that historic feel of the property but have renovated and modern bathrooms.
We really enjoyed our time here and in the town of Bayeaux and were sad to leave after only a few days. Highly recommend this hotel for your stay.

Pros: Loved it from the moment we drove in. Great location, great staff (shout out to Ice for her assistance and recommendations). Beautiful property (a converted 18th century home) with world charm. We were given a surprise upgrade to a larger room which was on the 3rd floor in the main building. Very clean and quiet. Fyi-there is no elevator. Excellent Wi-Fi. Bonuses: Free secured parking and a house dog named Gloria 😊.
Cons: For 15 eu expected a better breakfast. A kettle for tea or coffee in the room would have been nice.

The staff were exceptionally kind and welcoming. Most spoke perfect english as well, so it was easy to check in and ask for advice. Rooms have no AC and are quite old, but the price is affordable and the beds are fine. There's free parking in the back as well, and it probably doesn't fill up except in the busiest season.
Also 5 star rating just for the cute hotel dog, Gloria.

This hotel is all looks, no substance. Yes, the front looks impressive, yes, the breakfast room is very pretty. Apart from that, you get nothing.
The breakfast is the worst I've had in France — mini croissants and pain au chocolat that seemed to come straight from the freezer bag and scrambled eggs that resembled anything but. There's no personal touch at all.
We had a room in the annexe, where the door was fitted so poorly that you could feel the wind rustling through the gaps. It was around 7 degrees in the night, and we had arrived with damp bathing clothes that desperately needed to dry, but were told that they would only start up the heating on October 15th and we should dry our clothes in the launderette across the street. It's great if you do that in your own home, I do applaud you, but aren't you running a business here for paying guests?!
Miraculously, the second day the heating was on — I guess too many guests had been complaining.
The bathroom is apparently freshly renovated, and by an architect who apparently never had a shower in his life, otherwise I simply don't understand. Why is the shower without any partition, so you flood nearly the whole room whenever you shower? Why aren't there hooks or shelves for your things? And why, if the whole thing was renovated, is there still a hair dryer straight from a public pool in the 80s?!

I stayed at the hotel recently and it was a pleasant stay. The room was comfortable with fluffy towels and a really nice shower, despite being a century-old home. The entire hotel is charming and quaint, with a pleasant dining area and seating in the back garden which allowed us to enjoy the amazing weather amidst beautiful grounds. One word of caution for those who may have mobility issues: you must climb a flight of stairs to the entrance and to all the rooms in the main building. Our room was on the first floor, which was up about 4 sets of stairs if you include the entrance way. We had a lot of bags to carry — it took two trips — and there was no staff to help us, so that was a little bit annoying. However, once we settled in, it was not bad. Free parking is available on the grounds. The hotel is a little bit away from the main city center but it's only a short walk away from the majority of the shopping and dining, and there are also plenty of restaurants nearby. The young ladies on staff we very sweet and helpful, including Gloria, a sweet and attentive hound and the dog of the house!

My wife and I enjoyed our three-night stay here. The property has a lot of character, but also conveniences like parking. And it's very convenient to everything in Bayeux (which in turn is a great base for exploring the region). I'd highly recommend this hotel!

A fantastic holiday in Bayeux at this hotel. Professional and friendly staff and a wonderful location. Lovely room in the annexe (with a large walk in shower), free parking, hotel was very, very clean (they clearly work hard to maintain this standard), great gardens and interesting architecture in the grounds. Thanks to Frédéric, Ice, Celia and all the staff for a memorable stay, and, of course, to Gloria the Beagle (meet-and — greet dog) who made it all complete.

We stayed here in June 2025. Our first impression was a beautiful building with lovely windows and pretty grounds. We stayed in the "apartment" unit with two bedrooms. They were very comfortable; a nice mix of a historic, old-world charm and comfortable modernity. The owner was so kind, helpful and friendly! He brought us fans when there was a heat wave. He was very attentive to each guest, checking in to make sure everyone had what they needed.
The setting for breakfast was really nice! The decorations in the dining area gave the impression of being in the past, as if you were transported back in time. The best part was the back area, with lovely huge trees, flowers and tables. It was wonderful to sit out there, order a drink, and relax with the occasional visit from Gloria the owner's dog.

My family and I stayed at Hotel d’Argouges for three nights. The hotel was delightful. Our room was bright and cheery with a renovated bath. We had wonderful weather while we were there and were able to take full advantage of the garden in the back. After a day of touring it was a treat to come back and sit in the garden and have a glass of wine, or in the children’s case, an orangina while petting the delightful dog, Gloria. The staff was very friendly and helpful with dinner reservations and even an optician when my daughter stepped on her glasses. Breakfast was a very friendly experience with the best coffee we had in France. I would highly recommend Hotel d’Argouges for anyone visiting Bayeux and Normandy.
