Chateau de la Segue

We stayed in Chateau de la Segue for a long weekend for my Friend’s 30th. It exceeded expectations with a resort style pool where we spent most of our days lounging about with cocktails. There was so much space for games and entertainment. The house has hidden gems galore including a pool table in a speakeasy style room downstairs, table tennis on the outside deck, hammocks to relax & nap in, cinema size TV for movie nights, outside covered dining & cooking area. The actual property is also massive. We walked down the backyard and kept finding more ponds, an orchard plus an open slopping field to play ball. Perfect weekend 😍 We will be back!

An imposing and truly enchanting chateau in the depths of beautiful rolling countryside, making for a delightful retreat from stress, noise and city life in general. Sadly I only had one night to spend here but I was supremely comfortable in my large, timbered, spotlessly clean and well appointed double bedroom and Felix was a perfect host, enthusiastically walking me around the grounds and along peaceful nearby lanes before graciously serving a delicious dinner in the elegant dining room. Strongly recommended.

We just had an amazing time at Chateau de la Segue with family and friends. Beautifully restored chateau had spacious living areas on the ground floor with views over the French countryside and on a clear day right across to the Pyrenees. We enjoyed the walks to the villages and exploring the shops and market.
The owner Felix welcomed us and made us feel at home. Our bedrooms were very spacious and beds so comfortable. Waking up each morning to see across the peaceful farmland. Breakfast in the amazing kitchen where we all met each morning had an island in the middle where we chatted while preparing food from the market. We would love to return sometime and join the dance classes.

From the moment we arrived this charming, beautiful chateau in the heart of the French countryside encapture’s our hearts, we didn’t want to leave! The lovely owner Felix was so welcoming, we felt at home straight away. The chateau was so warm and comfortable with beautiful floors and ceilings. The restoration work so sympathetic to this beautiful country house. The ensuite bathrooms in all rooms except mine — but mine had a bath which made it all the more comfortable after our long walks in the beautiful countryside. I am looking forward to a return visit to explore the Canino de Santiago walk near by and the beautiful villages. Memories of our family reunion will remain with us forever.

We cannot say enough about our stay at Chateau de la Segue — it was wonderful from start to finish! Felix really kindly welcomed us and showed us around. The chateau was magical and so much lovelier than the photos! It was an ideal spot for our book club retreat. There's a cosy sitting room with a fire and lovely walks straight from the property. We spent much of our time in the glorious kitchen, probably the nicest place I've ever cooked! It had everything we needed and we feel right at home. I especially loved the tranquil bedrooms with their atmospheric beams and comfortable beds. Everything was spotlessly clean and it felt surprisingly cosy to live in a chateau! We'd really like to return in the summer and enjoy the swimming pool and fabulous outside eating areas.

Sadly only stayed one night as this is a truly exceptional place. Wonderful hosts, beautiful and comfortable rooms, lovely pool and other things to do but best of all it just has a very peaceful and restful feel. I would love to stay longer one day.

A spectacular place to stay with a charming and enthusiastic host. Beautiful building with lovely views, very high standard of furnishings and cleanliness. Spacious and calm with a lovely swimming pool and meditation rooms. Felix the host has just the right approach to making one feel instantly at ease and welcome in his beautiful house. The stunning building has been sympathetically restored and is full of original features and spectacular beams in the upper rooms.

I spent a retreat weekend at Chateau de la Segue in early March 2024. The chateau itself is a perfect size for a group who want to spend time together in warmth, comfort and elegance. The rooms of the ground floor are spacious and full of light with expansive views over a wooded valley and green fields. My en-suite bedroom was beautifully furnished and the bed itself large and comfortable. In the corner the room also had the big timbers of the magnificent charpente that holds up the roof – quite the period feature! Every corner of the chateau was spotless and every need had been thought about.
Ours was a dance retreat and we had our sessions just across the courtyard in another fine stone building. The huge ground floor room where we danced is flooded with light from full-length windows on three sides and it also has a big terrace. I guess it would be perfect for all kinds of retreats, meetings and parties. On the two full days of our retreat we ate lunch just downstairs in an old stable block converted into a dining room, complete with kitchen and bathroom facilities. The three course lunches were beyond delicious.
The chateau and its surrounding buildings are set high above the valley and the grounds fall away in pretty woods – good for a ramble. The chateau also has a huge billiard room and a tranquil meditation room – though I didn’t have time to spend in either.
