Absolutely brilliant. Extraordinarily an out of this world experience.

This was an absolute pleasure. The owners were lovely and made us so welcome. As a whisky drinker I will say the wine was superb The honesty and acceptance of all my non related wine questions were met with smiles and much humour, this made our holiday complete. We will be back for an over night stay. Thank you, Slange.

My visit to O'Vineyards was a wonderful experience. The winemaker, Joe gave a very personalized and "behind the scenes" tour of his vineyard and wine making facilities. He is very knowledgeable and was happy to answer all my questions about the process of making wine. During the tour, we tasted several varieties of his outstanding wines. After the tour, his wife Liz hosted a multi-course gourmet dinner that was phenomenal. Each course was paired with a different style of "'Vineyards wine. The visit was a fun and enjoyable. I highly recommend the experience.

Joe O’Connell has been making wine now in the hills above Villemousstassou for fifteen years. He is a wealth of information about the region, growing grapes and turning them into fine wines. He gives an excellent tour in English or French; tours are kept small so that you can interact and ask plenty of questions. We tasted one white (Chasan) and a potpourri of red blends from various years. The winery is relatively new and was built by Joe himself so it doesn’t have the history of an older family chateau. But, if you want to learn about viniculture and making wines, Joe will make it entertaining and educational.

What an incredible experience! Highly, highly recommend! An absolute must if you are in Carcassonne. Our friends had told us in advance of how nice all of the people are and how beautiful the setting was at O'Vineyards, but it surpassed our expectations. Liz & Joe, we had an amazing time, please pass on our thanks and best wishes to all of the guys! We will definitely be back and will definitely tell people about the experience we had. As abovementioned the trip to the O’Vineyards was by far the highlight of our stay in Carcassonne — and overall we have a very positive stay in the city. We booked the 3 course lunch and tasting package and were blown away by the quality, and quantity, of food and wine that was served. Liz’ home cooked food is amazing, up there with the best food we have tasted in the city. The wine was also delightful, Gilbert and Darren were never far with a bottle (of both white and red) to ensure our two glasses were never approaching an empty state. We hadn’t quite anticipated that Liz, Joe, Gilbert and Darren (and the three dogs) would be joining us for the meal. Being quite a shy and introverted couple, this would have likely deterred us beforehand, but this enriched our experience even further. Everyone was friendly, helpful, full of knowledge (not only about wine creation and cooking) and insightful. Not only keen to share snippits from each of their unique backstories but also interested in hearing our experiences. We shared the meal experience with another couple too and this added to the atmosphere. This couple had been on the vineward, cellar tour and highly recommended this, they were also visibly tipsy indicative of Jo’s generosity with his wine samples. The Vineyard and their massive home, purpose built by Joe, is stunning and further adds to the experience.

Wow where to begin when everything was so delightful! The location is beautiful and peaceful, just ideal as it's just a short drive out of Carcassonne. A GPS makes it easy to find. The gardens are beautiful and exactly the setting you want to sit under parasol, sip good wine, appreciate the flowers, listen to the birds, and have a nice zen moment. And the wine…! We drank as much as we wanted and really liked their unique white wine. But the reds are their main production for a reason! Joe gave us a great tour of the winery and clearly knows his stuff because we peppered him with tons of questions. He even let us sample straight from the barrel. As good as the tour and the wine was, it might actually be eclipsed by Liz's cooking. We felt like we were part of their family. It was an amazing home cooked meal prepared by Liz (& team — here's to Gilbert). I still don't get how Liz is not a recognized chef. If she wasn't at O'Vineyards then no doubt she'd have her own restaurant. Both dinner and breakfast were as delicious as it gets. Good fresh ingredients prepared with care and experience. Best part of all, it is very difficult to find a winery in France that offers both rooms and a table d'hôte so O'Vineyards has carved a great niche. We are already recommending O'Vineyards to everyone going to the south of France. We would go back. Thanks again for a great stay! T & A PS. What a lovely afternoon and meal at the o vineyards. This is no big industrial tour, this is a family run experience, you get lots and lots of wine. Just waiting for the tour we had had two glasses! You get the local experience tasting from the tank and barral and followed by a lovely 3 course meal, with lots more wine. The hosts are lovely and have been making wine for years and so know their stuff. If you want the genuine experience then this is the place.

A highlight of our trip. The hosts Joe and Liz are hospitable, passionate and tallented. The interesting picturesque tour was finished with a genuine family-style dinner with over-generous portions and reffils (seriously, be careful or you will go to bed fat and drunk). Thank you for great day and night, keep up the great work.

It's taken me a few months to find the time to write this review, nevertheless I have always intended to do so and hey, better late than never! Especially when you've experienced and received the first class and completely natural hosting that Joe and Liz bestow upon you when you visit their fantastic winery. We arrived in Carcassonne towards the end of April when an unusually cold snap swept through the Languedoc. In terms of our plans of visiting loads of vineyards it was a disaster. However, we were so glad that we chose O’vineyards. When we arrived we were the only two people who were mad enough to venture out but luckily we got all of their attention to ourselves. Before we even went out for a walk amongst the vines Joe must have poured 4 or 5 glasses of wine down our throats! It was a great experience, Joe’s passion and knowledge of what he does is fantastic and he explains it all in lay mans terms, no wine snobbery here! I lost count of the glasses of wine in the end. Liz put on food for us and when we were finished they even drove us back Into the centre of Carcassonne! This is hospitality the way it should be, old school and completely genuine. Thanks for a great day! Oh and did I mention that the wine is excellent!

Fantastic wine and superb food, you must book and don’t leave Carcassonne without visiting. Joe is very passionate about his wine (brought back several bottles) and Liz’s cooking is amazing, looking forward to going back.

You have to visit here. Great vineyard with amazing, wine, food and views. If you are lucky enough to stay (always fully booked) you will experience large double on-suite rooms and top level cuisine.

Hospitality of owners is overwhelming.

We had a great wine tasting and vineyard tour — it was really the highlight of our time in carcassonne. The hosts are so welcoming and friendly and very generous with their wine which they are clearly passionate about. Don't miss doing this tour if you are ever in carcassonne it's just a 15 minute taxi out of the centre and is totally worth it!
