Review of gîtes la Jaurie 1*

This has to be one of the best campsites I've ever been to! The owners are absolutely fantastic and so helpful. Despite arriving late on a Sunday we were given the option of ordering a meal from them which we so grateful for as there are no shops open on Sundays. We were given a great pitch next to a brook which kept the children busy for hours while they made fairy houses, and pubs? And collected toads, fresh water shrimps and more. When they weren't messing about in the river they were swimming in the beautiful pool which is salt water, not chlorine. The owners are very particular about using eco only products and this applied to everything from shampoo, body wash and toothpaste down to washing up liquid — a decision which I totally respected and despite not having been prepared for that, I was happy to buy their eco products from the shop which were reasonably priced. As the swimming pool is not chlorine based you cannot apply sun tan lotion before entering, but the kids can wear UV protective clothing and if you've forgotten to buy it, the camp shop sells tops at a very reasonable price. There was enough on site to keep the children happy for days and there's plenty around the region to visit. We were lucky enough to go in late August and got to see the travelling circus which was fantastic. Highly recommend the Velorail nearby and also caves. The campsite also has rabbits, chickens, donkeys and the most adorable dog, Woof who we all fell in love with (and I'm not a dog person! ) This is truly a fantastic campsite, well run, always lots of hot water, really friendly and helpful owners. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
