The hotel is OK, nothing more. The bar just accused us of not paying for a round of two drinks, snatched €20 from me. Firstly we were given a room that most definitely hadn't been cleaned. Ok, we complained and were given another. Despite being told that our cases etc would be moved, they were not — we had to do it. The new room had the shaving light broken, we left it out on the shelf but nothing got done. The shower has no curtain or handrail and is over the bath. We were putting up with this until we were accused of not paying for a couple of drinks — drinks where I had given the waiter/barman a 30% tip when I paid for it. He even snatched a €20 note from me when I was explaining how I had paid for the drinks. There seemed to be an belief that the English were deliberately trying to steal. Unbelievably upsetting after what should have been a nice night. Overall I most definitely find no reason for thinking that this could be a decent place to stay. No, not happy.

The Manager are very friendly the bed is very comfortable and the view on the harbor and just magical. There is a can of noise down the street with the 3/4 bar but it is the ambience of the place and personally its not at all disturbed.

Génial! Une vraie simulation de bar à touriste pour Rochelais. Direct sur le port. Avec tout ce qu'il faut : prix en salle et en terrasse exorbitants, mauvaise foi de rigueur (une seule remarque et c'est un revers du gauche "Jamais je n'ai entendu ça" en bonne et due forme. ), petites astuces mesquines pour faire monter la note… vraiment ils ont le souci du détail, on voit rarement ça en province, on se croirait à Paris place Saint-Michel. Non vraiment bravo Cinq étoiles, ça les vaut vraiment. Avoir ça à domicile, quelle chance! Si vous avez un petit coup de blues, si la vie va trop bien, hop, un petit café au comptoir et vous aurez la haine pour le reste de la journée! A ce prix là, c'est donné.

Très bon hôtel avec un restaurant qui a une très belle carte c'est très convivial les patrons sont super sympas et sont à l'écoute. Ce qui est génial aussi c'est la terrasse elle fait l'angle sur le vieux port de La Rochelle on y a une très belle vue qui domine. Boire un verre sur cette terrasse au coucher du soleil et un moment génial.

Excellent hôtel. La carte du restaurant est très bien. On y trouve des plats typiques brasserie et c'est super bon. Félicitations au chef. On peut aussi y prendre un verre en terrasse qui domine le vieux port de la Rochelle. La vue est vraiment superbe.

Run away! 7 months pregnant (quite visible so), I wait 5 minutes standing (while there are places) to settle down. Hello or smile… We're approaching a server that get docked us for our impatience. Run away!

Stayed in this hotel two nights for a business trip.
Below the list of what didn't liked in this hotel:
Half of the staff who made the face (especially the gentleman's arrival)
The shower pan that is filled (so your shower is timed otherwise its overflows)
The Wi — Fi that works even not.
Lunch bof bof.
Staff OK, but what is health frankly mediocre.
Noise, for those who are sensitive to noise (woke up whenever a motorcycle going on), despite the presence of a double window. But I also hear my neighbor in the next room.

Anyway I really recommend this hotel, I really have a bad memory.
Reading the comments I notice that people are saying that the rooms have been renovated, so either I had no chance and I came across a bad, or we have not the same notion of "renovation".

We did the restaurant
Very nice but could do better in organization.

Although the beds are clean, the hotel not too shabby. The service is really so so. If we can not with diamonds hornees suitcases, we used as shit. Anyway, for my part, I prefer sleeping in a less beautiful room, but being served appropriately. Rooms not done on time, an unpleasant reception and a mid-range server. By chance that the housekeeper was nice. I recommend this hotel.

Great stay at the hotel "Skalka". The home, the kitchen, the service, the cooks all staff without forgetting the very good warm atmosphere of everyone, very nice. A real treat in front of the pretty port of la Rochelle. We'll keep an excellent memory. So to conclude "A recommend".

I spent an exceptional stay at the hotel with my friends. The rooms come to be entirely renovated with taste, they are comfortable with a view on the old port of La Rochelle, in the face of the two towers.
The hotel has also a restaurant where we restored between friends in a family atmosphere with fresh products.
A must-see in La Rochelle. I highly recommend it! Thank you once again for this very warm welcome.

Hotel shabby, despite its location; What attracted me
The shutters, the tiling in the bathroom and handle broken, dirty baseboards, not soundproof walls!
The boss not friendly at all.
The breakfast, really minimum service (had to ask for a towel! I was told, there is one in the bread basket! )
I do not recommend this hotel.
