Reviews of Aalto Inn 2*
Very excellent hotel. Very nice room. No oven in the rooms with kitchens, but there's a common oven on each floor.
Great brick architecture.

The first impression was great. The building is located right on the shore front and has well designed rooms and beautiful lounges on each floor. Our room had a balcony with a view of the sea. But since being designed and built things have gone downhill. When we arrived our room was 26 degrees Celsius. We soon found out that the glass panes on the balcony were broken and couldn't be opened, which made the balcony and the apartment super hot. Maintenance did fix that quickly, but there also appears to have been some problem with the ventilation because the apartment was still hot for several days after that. Water had damaged the cupboard in the bathroom making the wood poof out around the edges like a marshmallow. Water leaked from the faucet so the bathroom floor was continually wet. One of the washing machines broke down while we were there. Certainly problems can arise in even the best hotel, but here they seem to occur too frequently. It seems the place has been a little neglected, and as a result has been kind of run down. The only staff we saw around were the two cleaning ladies, and it seemed like they had their hands full. The common areas also had signs of wear and neglect. There were also still notifications up about window cleaning at the end of June, and by that time it was mid-August. All in all, I would not recommend staying here. From my understanding, this hotel is only for guests of the universities here in the Helsinki area.
