Excellent hotel! Great rooftop terrace to enjoy after the sauna!

Stayed here for work literally for 6 hours, and then it was at night. The staff are nice at the counter, the rooms are clean, the Wi-Fi works with no problems, the TV — there are Russian channels.

Nice view on the roof top restaurant.

The hotel is good in general. It was a bit dusty and old, but everything worked well. The bed could be more comfortable and it makes me a bit discomfort that they had only curtains that blocked the light completely, so it is either dark or everyone can see you from the sidewalk and the restaurant infront of your window. Breakfast was really good.

Wonderfully located, downtown, all within walking distance. There's a kettle and cups in the room.

The hotel is well appointed, with access to two distinct restaurant tastes. The staff is pleasant and helpful and the amenities are as great for a business traveler.

Nice Hotel, well located, clean and tidy. Staff are 1st class. The steak is unbelievable, I cannot recall the last time I had one this good. Breakfast buffet is very good as well. The hotel has its own parking at €14 per night. I will stay here again — from choice.

Friendly reception, fast elevator, autumny views. edit: The mattresses are wider than the bed! They are put on top of the original (? ) mattress, so it'd make the bed look wider about 10 cm on each side. Interesting… (pls see photo taken from underneath). Hilarious! So if you go too much to the side, you will fall off the bed even though you technically are still on it. :D.

Nice hotel with friendly staff. I prefer the rooms in the new part with low room numbers, as the main street can sometimes be heard in the older part. No big issue really, but I nevertheless try to get a newer room, although the older ones are more cozy. The garage is somewhat demanding to park in as there are many pillars and not much room. Big cars, be aware! Get an S-card, it cost 25 EUR, but you get points and meet vouchers that pay back the expense in 3 days! I.

The room was very clean, the bed was very nice:) There's a nice sauna with a view of the city. There is a bar club at the bottom of the hotel, with discos, amateur music. The breakfast was very good.

Normally, Sokos, as always, at height. However, here, the Breakfast didn't look great, but they all were happy, and after a shower in the toilet is a big puddle of water, and clean up nothing…

I've been staying in hotels in the Kotka/Hamina area for a couple of years. The Sokos is the best. Front desk staff are always helpful and cheerful. Nice restaurant in the hotel but beware, like most Finnish restaurants, last orders are 8pm. They will throw you out at 10! The hotel itself has two parts, an older section to the front and a newer to the side. Beware rooms on lower floors of the new section. There is a nightclub that goes til 4am most nights. The bedrooms are basic, typical continental hotel rooms. Some have saunas. If in the area, I recommend it as the best of the rest. One star gets dropped for the quality of the beds. I've slept in better!

Very noisy in the night! Would not recommend this hotel. Guests can enjoy an on night bar (their own), where the noisy company and all night playing loud music. Sleep is almost impossible. It's amazing that a hotel of this standard did nothing to reduce the noise or increase the soundproofing of the rooms.

The restaurants bring my review up from 2 to 3 stars for the Sokos. Will start with the room, spent 3 weeks in the hotel and after the first couple of nights, the room got pretty claustrophobic, especially for the mrs as she spent all day every day here as I went off to work! It was comfortable but pretty small, with a decent bathroom, and not much else. It is in a good location in Kotka, right in the centre of town. It's a small town so you can walk anywhere of note from the hotel. The biggest negative about the room was the heat, we stayed in February, and it was — 10 degrees when we arrived yet still, we slept with the window open as the room was so unnecessarily hot with no way of controlling the heat. It had A/C in the room but it was like being blown on by an asthmatic. Another big negative was the cleaning, or lack of it. The cleaners didn't do a great job and made one hell of a noise in the corridor as they 'cleaned'. So, back to the restaurants, you have Amarillo and Fransmanni. Considering Amarillo is actually a night club, the food is surprisingly good, think along the lines of TGI Friday's or a Hard Rock Cafe — burgers, ribs, steaks, and all in big portions, and pints come in 1L frozen glasses and are particularly good, big portions of good food and drink, can't really go wrong there! Fransmanni on the other hand, I think is French cuisine, with a wide selection of dishes, one of my favourite things was the bread and garlic cheese they serve as an appetiser!

Central location, good food, Friendly staff, also next to a great mexican restaurant, (for big earers, the challenge is a must).

Reasonable rooms for a decent price. They don't have real double beds, just singles pushed together, which was somewhat unfortunate. Bathrooms and showers are quite nice though, plus there's a sauna on the 8th floor and several clubs and restaurants next door.
